This was our first experience with a caravan after camping last year. After arriving at 8pm ish we parked up walked to the house to the reception after speaking to Jackie one of the on site wardens.
Easy book in and offer of various pitches we set up the van and got an excellent chinese takeaway. The camp itself is nice and flat and well spaced out being asked to leave 6mtrs between units.
Having never caravanned before we had a few problems and really appreciated the wardens who were seasoned caravanners and helped us out with advice and the loan of a water pump to check the water was working.
We stayed 3 nights and found all the campers on this site very friendly and the facilities very good. We didn't use the shop as Leiston has a Somerfields which had everything we needed.
The beach two minutes walk ideal for my fishing the toilets kept clean and adequate. We enjoyed ourselves so much we just booked another 4 nights at the end of the month and taking the dog as it is so dog friendly and ideal for sea and lane walking. Cycling paths and trails are all around and although we didn't see a childs play area I noticed kite flying ball games on the beach two minutes off the camp.
Quiet, leisurely pace of the camp might not suit everyone but I highly recommend it if you want a peaceful relaxing site close to the beach with local ammenities 5 minutes in the car.

We arrived at the campsite on a Friday about 7.30pm with kids ready to run around as they'd been cooped up in the car for two hours. Unfortunately no ball games allowed was one of the first signs we saw so that was out & we couldn't send them off to play in the play area as there isn't one. We quickly put up our tent so we could all go down to the beach & get rid of some energy.
This is the best reason to go to this site, the proximity to the beach, the beautiful views & it's surroundings.
The next day we walked to Thorpeness about 3 miles away a really pleasant walk with plenty to keep the kids going on the way, blackberry picking, hiding in the grasses to 'boo' each other.
The toilet & washing facilities were in need of a looking at. The sinks were only big enough for washing hands after the loo but no other sink was provided. Only 3 showers & no chair, hook, bag etc supplied to be able to put your clothes.
The washing up facilities were great with freezer & fridge facilities available for free.
All in all a good site not overly child friendly and quite expensive but the beach makes it.

What a fab site! We loved everything about this site, the location is excellent right on the beach. The facilities were spotlessly clean and tidy despite being a bit worn in places, toilets and showers cleaned numerous times a day, weather was hot but only smelled of bleach, amazing!
Owners and staff always around but not intrusive and a great welcome at the club house/bar. Couldn't do enough to be helpful and even when requests were a little more time consuming they were not too busy to help out.
All in all if you want a good family holiday in a great site by the beach with a friendly family run bar/kids room/terrace cafe, you cant go wrong. Highly recommended.
The only thing I would say is that its next door to Sizewell Power Station, so if that kind of thing puts you off then I suggest you look elsewhere. Saying that though if your ok with proximity of Sizewell then there was no disturbance or traffic or even signs of activity going on, though the 'alarm test' on Monday morning kind of makes you jump!
Plenty of good pubs nearby, child friendly and serving food too. The vulcan arms is a nice (10 min) walk up the beach and the dolphin just a bit further in the opp direction.
9/10 and **** on my scale and I'm not known for being overly generous.

First visit to this site and would certainly use it again.
The toilet / shower block was always clean and tidy.
Use of a freezer was very handy as we could freeze our blocks for the cool box and keep the milk etc cold.It was a very hot weekend.
Felt at home in the bar. The owners loaned us a hammer as my husband had forgotten one.
Beautiful location right by the beach. Lovely walks.
Not far from Leiston town.
We were given a pitch marker and could go where ever we wanted as long as there was 6 metres between us and any neighbours.
Excellent campsite.

Arrived on the Thursday pm, parked in the campsite, and after finding the 'white house on the seafront' checked in all OK. Very helpful. Small shop in the bar area.
We could pitch where we liked on the flat, open fields. Nice toilet block / wash area / fridge and freezer to use / laundry room. Lovely site with walk down to (stony) beach. Path along top is great walk / cycle.
Absolute quiet after 10pm wasn't adhered to, although laughter more than music. Amazing out of a campsite of 50 odd people there is always one crowd willing to make noise until 1am isn't it!??
Drinks in the bar overlooking the sea lovely. Food looked good for day-time meals. No evening meals I believe.
Didn't find the kids play area (if it still exists) so would welcome any help with that. Will return.

We stayed here for 3 nights during the May half term school holiday (so the site was quite busy), as a group of 3 families (one tent, 2 caravans). It wasn't cheap by any means but we would say, all things considered, we were all very pleased with the site and would all go back which is the best recommendation of all really.
The laid back check-in and pitch 'where you like' system appealed to us (but for those worried by such things, there is no way there could possibly be 6 metres between each unit).
The site was very quiet during the day and at night after about midnight-ish (this did not bother us at all and made us feel comfortable having a good time outside until late). There seemed to be lots of police which bemused us but didn't bother us.
The site is well looked after by the friendly owners who were helpful, accommodating and very, very dog friendly! No full meals available in the on site shop / bar / cafe but kids reported toasties and scones were good.
The sea view wind protected seating area is great on a windy day. Directly on the beach which was great. An easy walk along beach to Thorpeness with all its attractions one way and the same to the tea room next door to the power station the other.
The only small nitpick we all had would be that the toilet blocks are long overdue for an overhaul (especially given the pitch prices) but with free hot showers all day and plenty of loo roll and soap, it really isn't a big deal. Go and enjoy it - we did and will again!

Delightful site, well maintained. Very busy over the bank holiday w/e & minimum stay of 5 nights required.
Toilet block somewhat dated, showers are fine, but the ceiling needs attention. All very clean & no charge for showers.
We had a fully serviced pitch, so no continual treck to re-fil the water barrel, only the waste.
Sight pretty much silent at 10pm, which was a refreshing change.
Lovely walks to Thorpeness & dog-friendly pubs.
Will definitely return

Just returned from our first visit to this site, what more can I say than FANTASTIC!.At £19.00 p/night which included FREE, yes FREE electric, spotlessly clean toilets and showers, enclosed laundry and pot-wash facilities we were more than happy.
The site itself has a wonderful location with direct and easy access to the beach. There is also a 10pm noise restriction which was impeccably observed, and from where we pitched we were able to fall to sleep to the sound of the sea lapping the shale beach.
Made some good friends with people that have used this site for many years and, like us enjoyed the overall friendly, family atmosphere that consumes this site.
We were lead to believe that the site is now under new ownership and is a family-run affair and as such is much improved from several years ago,we must say that ALL the staff were very friendly, happy to talk and nothing was too much trouble.
As you can gather we SHALL be returning having had a terrific time there.Well done to all concerned.

Spent 5 lovely days here, in spite of the weather!
Being able to choose exactly where to pitch took a little time, but the site was flat. There had been a lot of rain the day before we arrived so the ground was good for putting in the pegs. Some parts of the site became a little muddy towards the end of our stay.
I agree with a previous review in that the showers need updating, however there was plenty of free hot water. There was a mop and bucket to clean the floor after use, which was not always used by other visitors.
The open door into the toilet/ washing block looked straight onto the basins, so if you just wanted to have a wash instead of a shower, then you had to lock the main door to the whole block. There should be a screen fitted just inside the ladies door to enable privacy of washing, as the men had to walk past this doorway to get to the gents facilities.
We were disappointed in the lack of restaurant facilities, as this has now stopped apart from toasties/ light snacks. However the cider served was very tasty!
It is a lovely area to holiday in, and the shingly beach was a pleasure to walk along, in spite of the presence of Sizewell! There were many fishermen every night trying to fish for bass, although we never saw any being caught.
There is a Christian Centre next door to the site who, perhaps because it was during the holiday season, were very vocal every evening. They had a singing session each night which could be heard but did not go on too late.
There are no facilities on site for children, and ball games are prohibited, although the beach and dunes are close enough to cater for them. It is therefore not too noisy!
I talked to other visitors who came to the site every year, and had been doing so for many years. I think that this speaks well for both the site and the area.
Leiston is good for food shopping, especially the greek butcher with his lovely olives and sweet desserts!

Mmmm. If I had realised the nuclear power plant was directly next door (left)and the singing and music from the religious hall next door(right) was so loud, I may not have booked this site.
The toilet/shower block is dire. The 3 showers are in great need of refurbishment and the toilets never had toilet paper when I visited (as little as I could). The site owners were indifferent - even when the site was totally flooded, no-one came to give assistance with the flooded tents or offer to help in any way.
I was pleased to leave and we won't be returning. We agreed with a fellow caravanner that we must have mixed up the site with Cliff House holiday Park further up the coast.
