Location of the site is excellent, with beautiful views across the Loughor estuary to the Gower north coast. It is ideally located right next to the Llanelli Millenium Coastal Path which is a good day's walking to get to the other end and back, with some lovely scenery. It is also quite close to Parc y Scarlets, which we visit for the rugby.

It is very much a park in development, with a new toilet block opened recently. Really hot nice showers, with plenty of water, and plenty of them. Cleaning is very good.

There is a clubhouse/pub on site which is an industrial type building, which is quite well appointed. It has recently had the addition of a child-free Lounge, separate from the function-type room, where there are plenty of big screen tvs (if you can't do without your sport).

There are a few little gripes. There is a fairly sophisticated entry barrier system installed (to keep undesirables out), yet there are no coat hooks in the toilets to hang your coat/jumper on when you are having a wash, and quite often the tops around the sinks were swimming wet - so where do you put things down?
It is also quite clayey under-foot, (although there are plenty of cinder tracks)so even where there are hardstanding pitches, you quite often get standing water around your pitch. Again, in contrast to the entry barrier, the water stand-pipe is just a polythene pipe sticking out of the ground, with no support, and no drainage around it, so the ground is muddy there.

My family had such a great time at this site. Lovely coastal location, good access, well signposted from the a484 bypass road.
We received a lovely welcome from the staff in reception, checking in was painless as we had pre-booked our hard standing pitch.

There's a lovely clubhouse with a terrific atmosphere. We watched a comedian 'Colin Price' who was really funny. There was bingo and an entertainer who kept everyone entertained with games and a brilliant disco. Also one of the best carverys that me and my family have ever eaten. A brilliant play area for the little ones.

The facilities are good, toilets & showers warm and clean, plus a new block is opening in April. The clubhouse (called The Gate Inn) serves good quality meals all day, both food and beer is very reasonably priced. We hired bikes and cycled on the cycle path which runs alongside the site. All I can say is that we are 100% about going again! A MUST VISIT!

Gateway caravan park is the ronseal woodstain of caravan parks. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

The staff are fantastic, the clubhouse is spot on, with entertainment on most weekends and excellent food.

The site shop is well stocked with all the necessary provisions.

Childrens play area is first class, only the siting of it near the entrance may seem a little strange or is that just me?

Fantastic views over the estuary and right by the millenium coastal path.

The only down side is the toilet facilities.

They are clean but small and jack and jill with the clubhouse, so get very busy in the evening. That said they are building new facilities which should be ready for 2009 season.

For my familly, this has everything you could want for a great camping holiday and what with it being in one of the most stunning parts of the world, with so much inspirational natural beauty on tap, what more can you ask for?

Gateway just keeps on getting better and better each year due to the constant investment they are ploughing into the site year on year.

A little difficult to find and no camping sign up at the roundabout. West bound on A484 over the Loughor bridge and upon reaching the next roundabout turn left and immediately left again. Do NOT follow the sign for Bynea you'll get well lost like I did.
Lovely location ovelooking the Loughor estuary. Flat grass pitches, well cared for with easy access on gravel roads. Entry to the site is through electronic barrier for which an operating token is issued for a £5 returnable deposit.
Although the details of the site given above states 60 pitches there are, in my opinion, probably about 250. First field is entirely hard standing, pitches completely filled with seasonal tourers. Second field, grass pitches where we were told to pitch, has one side, about a dozen, taken by seasonals and the remaining 40 or so electric pitches for touring tourers. There is still more than half of this field available for non electric campers and yet a further field still which is probably used as an overflow.
Lady in reception was very pleasant if a little vague and had to be prompted for information as to location of services etc. Reception doubles as shop which appeared to be reasonably well stocked.
Toilet/shower block attached to rear of the large pub/club house at entrance to site with access from both inside the pub and from outside. Were clean and tidy when I looked, but I don't think they were sufficent should the site become busy. Also it was a long way from where we were pitched. The Elsan tip and waste water disposal were in same area so had to cart them using car.

Most of the time we were there (seven nights) there were only 3 or 4 tourers in plus a couple of the seasonals occupied. By the Thurs evening aproaching the bank holiday / half term weekend, it started to fill up and by Saturday it was heaving. Kept well away from the toilet block as we use onboard facilities. Understand the pub does good reasonable priced food though didn't visit ourselves. Space for about 100 units on the field we were on with 2 water taps though didn't seem to be any queueing even when site was busy.
Was informed by staff that an extra toilet block is to be built in the corner of the second field and a swimming pool is also planned. None of this construction has yet started so I don't think it will be seen this year. Also planned are statics, though no sign of these yet. I think that should the plans all come to fruition this could become a popular destination for those that want this type of camp.

Trostre retail park is only a mile up the road with every imaginable shop which is convienient. The coastal cycle route runs alongside with access direct from the site. Ideal for walkers and cyclists if a little lax security wise as anyone can walk onto the site from the public path. Would have liked to have seen some form of security staff about during the evenings as some of the visitors seemed to totally disregard the basic rules which are displayed on the reverse of your receipt upon arrival.
Wouldn't rush to go back, but maybe have a look in a year or two and see how they are progressing. As a final afterthought, 'Gents' and 'Ladies' signs on the outside of the toilets would be useful too.

We visited this campsite may bank holiday 2008. There is quite a good shop on site, the playground is really good, our little boy loved it. The toilet/shower block is very clean but unfortunately it is attached to the club house this became awkward because people using the club house also used these toilets and my husband and our little boy bumped into some men who were drunk when our little boy wanted to go to the toilet. Hopefully there will be more toilets/showers built soon. The site could also do with more dish washing facilities. The site it self is well looked after the owners are very nice and five mins away there is a fantastic retail park which includes Tesco, Morrisons, Spar and lots more.

We decided to stay at this site as after a few years of nagging I finally got my wife to agree to buying a family tent and this site is local to me (about 3 miles away).

As I already knew the area I knew where to go and what leisure activities are in the area.

If you do not know the area it is tricky to find but if your coming from the motorway and you get to Trostre you've gone about 2 miles too far, Just turn around on the roundabout and go right at the next one.

Trostre retail park is about 2 miles away which has all the usual outlets including Tesco, Morrisons, Boots, Halfords McD's Pizza Hut, KFC and many more.

When arriving at the site we were given a magnetic key to open the security barrier and told we could pitch anywhere in the bottom field, this suited us as this meant we could pitch right next to the gate leading to the millenium coastal path which runs along the estuary. From where we pitched it was only about 20 yards to the path.

I personally could not hear the traffic noise but that does not mean to say it cannot be heard from the top field.

The ground is VERY hard and I did not have hard ground pegs but with careful mallet work I had no problems (I did have to mave the pegs a few inches a couple of times).

The top field does get busy but the bottom field was empty, we were the only ones there and I had room to teach my 4 year old son to ride a bike without stabilisers.

The childrens play area is pretty good in fact I could not get my kids out of it, if I had let them they would have been there all day, but please use bug spray, my wife and I were eaten alive whilst sitting watching the kids.

The toilets were very clean but they could do with another shower/toilet block. There is portloos in the bottom field DO NOT USE THEM!

As for leisure activities there is lots to do in the surrounding area. The gower peninsular is just across the water, mayber a 10 mile drive. The Towns of Llanelli and Swansea are a short drive away. All leisure activities are well advertised in the area and are too numerous to mention here. I did not try the food in the club house but am told it's very good, in fact my next door neighbour goes there every Sunday for lunch.

Overall I could not fault the site, it's a friendly no nonsense, does what it says on the tin sort of place. It could do with some more activities to actually do on site but I know they are building a swimming pool which may be finished by now, but don't quote me on that.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the site but please do not use the portaloos. You have been warned!

I was disappointed with this site. Overgrown, unkempt and ruled by large groups of ‘resident caravans’ from the local area. The approaching lane was littered with rubbish, empty McDonald containers etc. There is still a lot of building work going on here with diggers everywhere; I assume this is for the planned swimming pool, among other things, as there are a few developments in the early stages, so I suspect it will continue for the rest of the season.

On booking in we were charged £5 deposit for a security key to operate the barrier on entry to the site, on exit it raises automatically. I think we must have been in the minority as key holders as I witnessed people parked waiting for you to come out and quickly nipping in before the barrier had descended. The same applied when you entered

The site allows tourer’s to site on the first field, on the earmarked pitches most of them have constructed flooring for their awnings out of ply, pallets and any old odd bits of timber. These are left down when the awning is taken away, what a shabby sight it made.

The toilet/shower block was clean during our visit, but it is shared with the bar and clubhouse/restaurant. As there are no vanity cubicles, this resulted in my husband having to shave with his towel between his knees and customers using the urinal right behind him! We left as soon as possible, forfeiting our remaining nights and deposit.

I have stayed here 6 times now and every stay I've had has been fantastic. The site is in an ideal place with Trostre Retail Park just a mile down the road with all branded shops, and the new Scarlets Stadium coming soon.

The site is situated on the Millenium Coast giving beautiful views of the Gower and great coastal routes for walking and cycling. The park even supplies a bike hire. There is an on site shop which has everything you need. The clubhouse and toilets are the cleanest I've been to. The food is excellent in the club and the Sunday Carvery is even better. The shows on a Saturday are always good I have not seen a bad show there yet! The site is family and dog friendly. My children absolutely love the adventure park I struggle to get them back to the caravan. Me and my parter enjoy our stay there so much we are thinking about putting our name down for a seasonal pitch. I cannot praise the site much more. Big Thumbs up.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights over the Bank Holiday(our second time), we requested a pitch on the back field and were accommodated. The pitch was surprisingly dry after all the rain recently. The site was quite busy but not actually full and the toilet and shower facilities seem inadequate for the number of people. In the club the food is not bad and reasonably priced and the beer was rather cheap. Great access onto the cycle path and the estuary for fishing. I was able to wheel my kayak from the caravan down to the water.

We stayed here for one night in july as we had just bought a caravan for the first time and wanted somewhere local to try it out. Well the site cannot be faulted! On arrival we were to told to park wherever there was space which suited us fine!

The kids playground was superb, ours are 5 and 9, although the weather was awful, wellies should have been on the list!

In the evening we sampled a few beers in the club house, which was quite full, with a singer, but thoroughly enjoyed it!

If you are thinking of going here, you must stay for sunday lunch, was out of this world, fixed price 2 course carvery was just amazing, two sittings, 12.30 and 2.30, you can smell it cooking through the morning!
