Agree with most previous comments as to the spotlessness and tranquillity of this site, just off the busy A5 but the road noise didn't bother me. As has been mentioned this site is remote with no pub or shop within reasonable walking distance but the area is quite good for cycling being not too hilly. By turning left out of the site and left again leads you to the many country lanes so with an OS map you can make your own cycle route. We cycled to The GBG listed Royal Inn, Edgerley overlooking the river Severn and with its own campsite then to The Tontine Inn, Melverley for a ploughmans to die for before the return leg back to the campsite.

Visited with friends (2 couples in total). Had read previous reviews & decided to try it ourselves.Very easy access, just off A5 at Wolfshead roundabout. Concerned about previous reviewers comments re road noise, but we hardly heard it. Roughly half way between Oswestry & Shrewsbury, so very handy for visiting N Shropshire/Welsh borders. If on our own would possibly have used public transport more, as there is a half hourly bus service to both Oswestry & Shrewsbury within 5/6 minutes walk-take your bus pass!We visited the museums at Ironbridge, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (need a head for heights!)& the RAF Museum at Cosford (completely free & a full day needed). Site shop sells basics, a fish & chip van comes on Friday teatime. It`s a bit pricey, but saves cooking.Local village approx 1 mile away.

Facilities on site excellent, a credit to the franchisees. Toilets & showers spotless, with plenty of hot water. Washing up facilities, with several sinks, each with a bowl. Laundry had a deep sink for hand washing, again plenty of hot water, a Bosch washer plus a huge tumble dryer.Washer paid for on honesty basis via reception, unusual these days. Plenty of tourist information leaflets, plus knowledgeable staff.

We did not see any play area, but did not need it, not having children with us.Site immaculately kept, with hard roads, plenty of hardstandings, very well draining ground, plus lots of flower beds & tubs. All in all one of the best sites we have visited. Definitely worth another visit. Not the cheapest, but well worth the fees paid.

We visited the Oswestry site during the May bank holiday weekend, and found it to be very pleasant.
On arrival the wardens Alan and Gail were very friendly and we were shown to our pitch and helped to manouvre into place. We had a grass pitch which was very well drained and almost level.

We were not too far from the toilet and shower blocks which were kept spotless. There is only one block for the whole site so these do get a bit crowded around the morning rush. The site has no play area for the kids but they do seem to make their own entertainment.

Overall a very pleasant and quiet site which we have already booked a return visit too as we did not have enough time to explore the area as much as we would have liked. Well worth a visit and well done again to the friendly club and the site wardens for making our stay a happy one.

A lovely clean site just before oswestry. Facilities superb but just a bit to remote for my liking ie. you need your car.
A chip van calls on a Friday which is a big help when I got there at 7.30 at night. Shall definitely return but just for a weekend break

A very clean & well run site. Good if a little remote location mid-way between Oswestry Shrewsbury. Facilities are clean & well serviced by the very friendly staff.
There is plenty of space both on grass & gravel pitches. The site slopes gently & is well drained with good gravel roads. There is a dog walking area, but I would have liked to see some play facilities as there were quite a few kids on site.
There is a bit of noise from the busy A5 road nearby, but this didn't keep us awake. The shop sells the basics & takes orders for morning papers.
Oswestry is nice & has a good range of shops. There is an Indian Restaurant within walking distance that we got a nice take-away from one evening, & a mobile chip shop comes on some nights. There is no pub nearby, but there are some nice local walks. We would certainly go back if in the area again.

The other reviewers seem to have covered everything about this site - spotless showers, loads of hot water, very quiet and friendly staff.

We used the bus to go to Shrewsbury (every 30mins) and Gail gave us a timetable and told us exactly where the stop was.

As we like walking and cycling the site is very well placed as far as we are concerned with lots of small roads round about and we are certainly intending to return. The reception/shop has leaflets about walks and cycle rides from the site.

Our second visit to the site this year, and we found everything tip top just like our last visit. The owners remembered us (I hope we weren't that bad) and again showed us to the pitch and pointed out the hook up post and so on.

We used the local bus to Shrewsbury and found this bus service to be very good. We were not sure where to get off though on the way back but fortunately the bus driver shouted 'campsite stop!'

The grounds are very well kept and clean, despite the autumn weather.

We did make use of the washing up facilities on site and there were several very clean sinks available with hot water.

The motorhome service point gets 10 out of 10 from use for ease of access for a larger van.

We hope to return just after the New Year, if only to stock up with more of the local rapeseed oils from the shop on site. We are using the lemon flavour at the moment and it is delicious. We think we will plan our future visits to the site around how much oil we use.

We choose this site as it was close to relatives that we wished to visit. 2 sisters and 3 children between us. My first impression was not very welcoming, as my uncle had driven down with me to help put the tent up was, lady in reception wasn't very pleasant.

I was a bit put off about paying for an extra car as if we had taken two small tents, instead of 1 to accommodate us all we'd have used two pitches paid the same price as it's per person and not the extra car.

We pitched near the top end of the site, very windy to put tent up needed to peg it first, relatively flat. Showers very clean, though closed for two hours at lunch time. Site very clean, good recycling facilities. It was quite a small site so nice and quiet, the only noise was from Nescliffe army camp, first night at 11pm thought it was fireworks, but when they are going off at 6am you realize, this disruption is going to be permanent.

We already knew the area as we have relatives in Oswestry, but went to Chester Zoo one day and from childhood memories Ellsmere was always nice but it poured down the day we planned to go there.

The only down side was nowhere for the children to play, not even a patch of grass, fortunately after the first night there were two pitches free in front of us to play on.

When on this site make sure no rubbish is left out there are quite a few Voles about.

We arrived at the site without a booking and were immediately pleased by the fact the staff were not frightened of our American RV. The motorhome is 34 feet long and has been refused at too many sites in the past, even though clearly we could have pitched. Anyway, we were offered a choice of pitches and after we made our minds up, the staff showed us the hook up connection, water points and so on. The site is very GREEN in that there is recycling for glass, cardboard and tins but also the local community group collects used newspapers.

We extended our stay and made use of the motorhome facility whereby we can fill with fresh water, and get rid of waste. The faciity at this campsite is easy to access even for a bus like ours.

We did not make use of the showers and toilets etc as we prefer to use the RV, but the building was very clean and tidy.

From the site, there is a direct bus to Shrewsbury or Oswestry town centres. We went as far as Ironbridge by changing buses at Shrewsbury - no point having our granny passes if we don't use them.

Newspapers are delivered to the site everyday. We also liked how well this site is supporting the local area by selling local products such as bacon, icecreams, jams and allsorts really.

There are lots of local walks and bike rides near to the site. We ate out several times at a pub in the next village. The pubs are within walking distance of about two miles, but we caught the bus back from The Three Pigeaons as it was easier and free with the bus pass, and we did have a few too many with our lunch.

The site is really quiet and peaceful and is ideal for those like us who like walking with the dog, cycling or just being busy doing not a lot.

This site is very pretty, very quiet and perfect for people with dogs. There is a little path just off the site for dog walking.

The toilets were new and spotlessly clean and there was a great sized family room for taking the kids to the shower with you. The shower was the best I have ever had - not just on a campsite! There is a hairdryer in the ladies for 20p per time.

The site was nearly full and was 90% caravans and camper vans.

We found it a little quiet for us but this is the first site we have visited which hasn't been mainly for tents. We like to watch other campers playing with their children and this site seemed to mostly be retired couples - our neighbours went to bed at 8pm!

There is a shop on site which doesn't have alot but does stock the basics.

You can leave a deposit and use their frozen ice packs for 45p per pack (first time I have ever been charged for this).

There was a fast food van on Friday evening which I think is a weekly event and was handy for us as we got their about 6ish - the fish & chips were very nice.

We would not visit this site again because as I said it was a little too quiet for us but for anyone wanting a nice quiet spotlessly clean site which is dog friendly I would recommend it highly.
