They say good things come in small packages,so very true with this site.We travelled from the Isle of Man to visit family,my husband was born in Nottingham and this site is 5min drive away from my sister-in-law's house. We didn't want to stay with her as we didn't want to leave the motorhome on her housing estate overnight so this site was ideal.

This site is close to the bus stop that took you into the city or Bullwell (that is a 10 min walk away) where you can catch a tram for £2 return. This was ideal for us as I am disabled and can walk short distances but use a fold up scooter for anything more and the tram has a disabled area and has a mark on the platform to wait on and the tram stops at that point. We didn't want to take the motorhome into the city and the park and rides had a height restriction so this was ideal.

There is lots to do and see in the city so this site is ideal for that and as a base for further away attractions. We did travel for a few days at a time and the twice we just turned up without booking Vick squashed us in. All in all a very clean, friendly site, great if you like fishing, and we will be back in 2010.

Just spent 2 nights here and can verify all other good reviews. We stopped for Sunday lunch and its well worth it - £6.00 and you help yourself to veg (which were well cooked). We had to share an 'Eton Mess' for dessert (£2.00) due to over eating the main course.

Not sure I could spend a week here due to its location, but its ideal as a stopover or for a weekend. Cost us just £30.00 for 2 nights (due to having 2 cars) so very reasonable. And those toilet and shower facilities have to be seen to be believed.

There is a pub quite close but no real ale served and the clientelle looked a bit iffy.

All in all - very friendly, clean place.

Met up with the In Laws for a relaxed 5 days of chilling and fishing. A great lake for all species (weed control an ongoing project). The owners are very friendly and facilities impeccable.

Brilliant breakfasts too, didn't get to try the Sunday lunch this time, but reports were outstanding.

Had a great time, and would love to return some day soon.

What a superb little, adult only, site. As you approach it by the side of the industrial estate, you could be forgiven for wondering what you have let yourself in for, but do not be put off. The site is marvellous, and it becomes instantly apparent that Vic, Shane and Cheryl, the owners, love it too. Everything was spotless, the toilets, shower and washing up facilities were pristine, as were the pitches - not a sign of any rubbish or litter whatsoever. I felt the need to be extra vigilant in my own attempts not to make a mess, as Vic's standards are set so high - quite rightly. He is rightly proud of his achievements, and everything he has done exudes that caring, homely touch. His soon to be enlarged cafe is to die for, the breakfasts were excellent, and the fishing was first class.

Sue and I fished for three and a half days in all weathers a mere twenty yards from our tent, catching carp upto ten pounds, ide, tench, roach and rudd, with no fish less than a pound in weight (even the roach). It's not easy fishing, but very rewarding. A nice touch was the facility to dry our clothes after a particularly wet fishing session, and the provision of unhooking mats. Vic even lent Sue his own fishing umbrella after hers proved to be unsatisfactory.

Although we didn't sample the delights of Nottingham, we nipped out to the local Aldi and chippy ( a bit expensive and they've never heard of meat & potato pies!), a mere five minute drive away. There is also a small enclosed patio on site where you can sit and watch the birds in their aviary or just nip into the cafe for brews. Nothing was too much trouble for Vic and Shane, who were superb hosts. To sum up, the only reason this site doesn't get 11 out of 10 was Vic's inability to control the weather!

I am on site as I type this, I just visited the toilets, currently 22:00, these are better than office toilets I have used in any building except for company head offices. The camp ground has a higher flat section shielded from the wind by hedge rows. Slightly below this is a slope on a slight pitch that I would still happily camp on. Tents over look the pond/lake (would class it as a large pond myself). There are picnic tables within 50m of my tent, and its at the furthest part of the field.

I am currently staying during the week, Monday night to Thursday night, I could imagine it getting a little uncomfortable of a weekend if more than perhaps 6-8 tents were pitched, unless they were smallish. The site is run by some rather friendly folks, the dog was a little too interested in my van, and I had to get out to stop him/her getting in the way of it. If they had the possibility of expanding into the next field, it could really open up this camp site, of a weekend I would think the next field could house about 50+ tents, although this would be at the expense of the current facilities. Perhaps a second tier shower/toilet block for a lower price. I am not sure what the demand would be for this though.

Very impressed none the less, and am thinking of investing in a caravan, if only all sites were as good as this.

Best ever little campsite we have been to. Vic, Cheryl Shane and Patch are extremely friendly and helpful. The toilets are kept very clean and they are the best we have come across, the shower room is also the best, its a proper electric shower that you can control yourself, just like a shower you would have at home. There is a cafe with homemade food, the Sunday lunch was wonderful. There is also an aviary with different birds in. Nottingham is only 5 miles away and is massive. There is a lovely lake to fish in and if you do not fish then just relax by it. They are in the process of extending the cafe and will also be installing tv aerials to every pitch. A lot of thought and effort has gone into making this site one of the very best we have been to.

Spent only 2 nights at this sight when visiting friends in the area. Absolutely fantastic site. Have never seen such fantastic toilets and shower facilities. We were greeted by Vic and Patch the dog, shown to our pitch, which was right by the fishing lake, and shown all the facilities. Vic and his son were the most friendliest of site owners we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our friends came over in the morning and Vic cooked us a lovely breakfast. I would recommend this site to everyone, especially if you like fishing.

We are almost to reluctant to review this campsite, hoping only to keep this little gem of a site secret. Home from home is not the word, from the moment you arrive you are given the warmest of welcome from Vic & Cheryl, they accept you as long lost friends & nothing is to much trouble. I have lost count on whether this is our fifth or sixth visit & rain or shine it has a uniqueness all of it's own.

We do not go for the fishing although it is most enjoyable to watch fish after fish being caught by fellow campers. We go for the relaxing atmosphere, although very close to town you have the best of both worlds, surrounded by trees & looking out over the lakes, seeing the horses & their fouls galloping in the nearby field is idyllic.

We recommend you sample the home made cooking, but if you prefer to cook your own breakfast don't forget to ask Cheryl for fresh eggs from the hens at the back of the farm. If you get chance, book Sunday lunch, after that you really will want to come again

We do not need to mention the shower/toilet block everything said in previous reviews is true, spotless, the best we have ever seen. Thank patch for making friends with our two dogs, but most of all thank you, Vic & Cheryl for your hard work in making this an exceptional site.

Well I've just got back from one nights stay and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Reasons why? Ok here goes.

We arrived at the site to be greeted by the owner Vic and Patch the dog, he was very friendly and gave us a tour of the facilities. The toilets and shower room are clean enough to eat your dinner off, and there`s a very handy little room with a freezer and a tumble dryer in(free) He then showed us to our pitch whilst explaining that the site had only been open since march and that he wanted to eventually have all the grass looking like a bowling green (we thought it looked pretty good anyway)

The first thing we noticed was a lovely looking lake in the middle of the site and at first glance we could see that there were some really big fish in there (although not a fisherman myself it was nice to see folks catching them) He then showed us a nice little aviary with a small, but again, very clean looking cafe next it (which we didn't use as we are fairly new to camping and wanted to sample the delights of cooking outdoors ourselves)

After we were set up we set off to Morrissons (about 4-5 mins drive away)to buy our supplies for the night/morning ,however we did manage to forget the eggs so I half heartedly asked if we could buy some eggs and was pleasantly surprised when we were given half a dozen fresh eggs and told to settle up in the morning! (the eggs were great scrambled by the way)

There is a pub about half a mile away and a chinese restaurant and a pizza place that deliver to the site if required and also a chip shop very nearby. There is also an aerodrome close by and the planes were taking off frequently during the daytime but they certainly weren`t a nuisance to us and didn't spoil the serenity of the place. The birds were varied in species and vocal with it,which was a nice sound to awake to along with the sound of running water into the lake

When the sun went down (and a few ciders along with it) we realised we had also forgotten to bring any kind of lantern but again ,along came Vic to our rescue who very kindly had managed to rustle up a powerful torch from somewhere. He was sat with us while I played my guitar and sang Beatles songs (`till a reasonable hour I might add) and a good time was had by all. Fellow campers came along and sat with with us which was nice,we were all quite merry but certainly not enough to drive people mad!

We will definitely be coming back here as soon as we get the next chance, thanks to Vic,Cheryl,Patch and Shane for making our weekend a memorable one

From the minute we arrived we were made welcome. Vic, Cheryl & Shane are some of the nicest people we have ever met. By the end of our week we felt as if we had known them years. Cheryl make a delicious Sunday roast and homemade cakes to die for. The shower room, loo's etc are kept immaculate at all times. The fishing lakes are very clear and full of fish (I must take up fishing one day)

A lot to do and visit in the area, I suggest a visit to the tourist office or have a look on line as there is far too much to do to mention on here, but I can recommend the princess cruise on the river trent, we had a brilliant meal/time etc. Also the visit to Jerusalem, we stopped to have a drink in the pub and was amazed by the 'oldness' of the building. We used the park and ride costing £2.70 quite a lot which saved us the hassle of driving in a very busy city. All in all we had a fab week and will be back in the future.
