Myself and my wife just wanted to thank you both very much, we had a lovely stay at your site in Sutton on Sea. You both do an excellent job keeping the Cherry Tree Site immaculate, both in cleanliness, and attention to the important details on the site. Both owners are friendly, helpful and informative which is very refreshing and made our stay very enjoyable! Our black lab was calm and content here too and loved the short, easy walk down to the beach. The dog walk created by the owners was extremely useful too. Sutton on sea is a great seaside destination, we would have no hesitation in coming back and staying at the Cherry Tree.

So to all caravan owners who are looking for a great location and polite and pleasant owners please visit this site.

Once again thank you both.

This site is immaculate and well kept with the added bonus of being child free. On the down side there is NO privacy whatsoever and barely any space to sit outside your caravan/camper. We did not have an awning (thankfully) but still nowhere to sit and relax. Facilities were good and clean and plenty of hot water for the showers. Owners nice but very patronising and myself along with other 'new comers' were not too happy being constantly directed how to reverse and where the car must be parked etc etc. The 'Dog walk' is actually a small layby with a few grass paths and just about enough for a very small short mid-walk break - it is at the side of a very busy road so be very very careful. Dogs cannot be exercised anywhere on site at all. The 'fully serviced' pitches are not worth the extra as they are very cramped and on very sharp stones with no grass to sit.

This was the second time we visited this site and I have to say that it will be our last. The first time we stayed here we were made to feel welcome but did not like having to follow the owner who walked in front of us to the pitch.

When we booked we asked if we could have the same pitch as last time to which we were told that it should not be a problem so when we arrived and saw the the pitch that we had asked for was not occupied we thought that we were ok. The owner told us that the pitch was not available so we said that we definitely wanted a sunny pitch (of which there were plenty available) but instead we were made to wait whilst the owner moved a caravan off a pitch next to a very tall hedge and then walked us to this pitch. This pitch went into the shade at 2pm which was completely the opposite of what we had asked for. We also paid for 2 extra adults who were coming the to stay for one night which we thought was ok but were then quizzed why we hadn't been to give the owner the car registration when our visitors arrived. We replied that we weren't asked to do this when we booked in.

Just wish I could pack up this site and take it with us every time we go away in our van! Facilities were spotless and the tumble dryer was an added bonus as the weather was very inclement when we stayed here. We played golf at 2 lovely courses - Sandilands links in a gale force wind and Kenwick Park in a hailstorm. However it was a lovely holiday overall. The site managers were busy bees all day keeping the site in immaculate condition and it is a credit to them. Highly recommended 5star!

We have been informed this park is under new management from 2013. Sue and Kevin Lannen have acquired Cherry Tree Site from Geoff and Margaret Murray who have retired. Best wishes to all from UKCampsite.co.uk

Was told about the owners being very strict on this site by a friend, on arrival we discovered that new owners had taken over. Very relaxing site, well maintained and clean. Its a little far from places so a car is needed. There is a hotel with a bar and restaurant in walking distance but be aware if you walk on the farmers footpath and its has rained then you may pay the price with a new pair of shoes like my other half!

Just spent 4 days booked at the last minute. Chose the site purely for it's location and unlike many previous reviewers the fact that the site is adults only was not a priority for us.

Read the reviews on this web-site and although some were quite negative we decided to book. However, after having visited we have mixed feelings about the site.

There is no doubt that the owners work extremely hard to keep the site immaculate and it is a credit to them but on arrival we realised that the site was not our cup of tea. The site is too regimented in it's layout with the only views being of your neighbouring caravan.

The manner of the owner was quite patronising at times with all the unnecessary information given on arrival - we are adults after all and more than capable of disposing of waste water correctly and using the barrier key to access the site! We are also quite able to park our motorhome centrally on a wide hardstanding pitch without the instructions 'left hand down a bit'!

Previous reviewers mention the 5 star shower block and indeed would give it 5 stars for cleanliness but did feel that the lighting was very dim in the showers, the cubicles a little on the tight side and the water pressure very low.

On the positive side the site was well located for walking to the beach and Sutton on Sea but we never really felt relaxed. Would we return again? A definite NO.

Just had a very pleasant four days at this site.

The site is very well kept.

We were on a Hard standing full service pitch. It had plenty of room and was not to close to the other pitches at all.

Lovely and clean toilet block with background music playing. Closed between 11am to 12 for cleaning.

There is a small dog walk just outside the site or a grass path around a field to the beach.

The owners were helpful and friendly.

Nice site for a quiet Adult only break.

Sutton on Sea is a delightful little seaside town with an excellent Spar shop and lovely walk along the beach.

Mablethorpe is very run down and I wouldn't visit again.

Louth is a very nice town with a great market.

First class. The site is very neat and tidy (is that grass real?). The pitches are plenty big enough and well spaced out so as not to be overlooked by neighbours. There is an excellent information hut where you can get the low down on all the local eating places, things to do, walks, maps, etc. There are even a few bits and bobs for sale. I got a really good mini vacuum for just £2. There are books to borrow or swap too.

The toilets and showers are immaculate and a pleasure to use.

The dog walk is just off-site within the lay-by at the entrance. I would describe it as adequate for its purpose. It is kept mown and tidy so that there is a definite path. It does edge onto the road but shouldn't be a problem if you keep your dog under control.

Despite being so close to the road this is a very quiet and peaceful site. We kept so busy each day by going for walks in the fresh sea air that we slept totally undisturbed at night.

There are some excellent walks to the beach (well signposted), into Sutton and also into Mablethorpe. If you follow the beach in the opposite direction from Mablethorpe through Sandilands to a large parking area, there are snack bars and an ice-cream van. Bit of a treat after a long walk.

In Sutton there is an excellent bar called The Marisco Inn, good food at reasonable prices and very dog-friendly. We were told that the Beach Bar is also very good but we didn't get round to trying that one out.

Geoff and Margaret (owners) do run a tight ship, but when so many people are using and sharing the same facilities on a site then some form of order needs to be kept. The number of sites we've been to where general order is sloppy is definitely reflected in the condition of the site and facilities.

Would we visit again - YES most definitely. The site is a credit to Geoff and Margaret. The general area has lots to offer for walking and for those who enjoy the seaside towns.

Good all-rounder.

After a very busy summer season, I have now had the opportunity to sit and read the reviews on Cherry Tree.

I do appreciate that we cannot please all of the people all of the time, however could I just point out some of the facts :

The nearest shop is only 0. 6 miles away - usual type corner shop, milk, bread etc - but lovely deli with homemade pasties etc.

Nearest pub, restaurant is 12 minutes walk. Dogs welcome in bar - do take a torch if you are returning after dark.

The site is NOT very close to a farm - simply surrounded by fields. Harvest occurs in August in this part of the country, so lots of tractors around!

Whilst some feel our pitches are close together, please be assured that Cherry Tree NEVER abuses the '6 metre rule', which is paramount for safety - this leads on to the comment about heaters in awnings - we simply ask that they are not left on whilst van is unattended - the reviewer missed out the last few words which change the meaning completely.

Comments re 5 stars - it may be beneficial for people to contact the Quality in Tourism Board to see exactly what requirements are necessary for 5 star grading - certainly not wi-fi or 16 amp hook-up - in fact you do not even need a laundry to qualify. We were inspected in September this year, and are proud to have had our 5 star status confirmed for the next 12 months.

We know we run a tight ship here at Cherry Tree. This is appreciated by many of our customers who know exactly what to expect, but sadly it does appeal to all, and we are sorry that some people have not been happy here.
