Cherry Tree Caravan Park is a little gem within the Lincolnshire country side. The site is one of the best that we have stayed on in the uk and more than worthy of its 5* rating. When you arrive at the park you will be greeted with a smile by the site owners Geoff and Margaret and shown to your pitch, if your a little reseved about reversing your unit don't worry Geoff will have your unit on the pitch and sorted out before you can think about it, he never fails.
The site is very well maintained with more than generous sized hardstandings for your unit separated by grassed areas many of the pitches are fully serviced. The toilet/shower block is the best we have ever used always clean and tidy with plenty of hot water and even has piped music to shower too. There is a pot wash room and a laundry room with all the things you would expect to find on a 5* site.
The location of the site is very good with good access of the A52 and within easy reach of all the main attractions of the Lincolnshire coast. You only have a 20 mins walk via a footpath to the nearest beach and you can walk to Sutton on Sea in half an hour.
There is a golf course only 5 mins drive away at Sandilands and fishing is available nearby.
We have used this site many times over the last few years and never had a problem, some reviews state that the owners place to many rules, this is not the case, you do have to have rules, that's what makes the site what it is, a great place to stay.

This was our first time here and agree with gazza147's comments, and here are my points on the site and surrounding area.
Good Points;
• Lovely site
• Immaculate facilities
• Waldos Fish and Chips in Sutton on Sea lovely
• Lovely beach, we took our canoe, and the dog loved it as usual
• Dog walking areas – there are 2, one just outside the sight, which is has mown paths through, which is ideal for first thing in the morning and last thing at night, although this is right next to the A52, with no barrier from the road, so you need to take care and keep your dog on a very short lead at this point. The second area is a walk alongside the field again outside the site, which does lead [with a notice at the end], to a public footpath just along the road next to the bungalow which then takes you all the way to the beach, about 15-20 minutes walk tops, which is nice, and quite handy.
• No parking charges in the beach car park.
• Would fully recommend the Wagon and Horses pub for service, and food,
At Main Road, South Reston, about 5-6 miles away from site. Food was excellent, and for 2 adults with coffee, a main meal, and an alcoholic drink each was £21, which is not bad at all. The Rose wine, large was lovely, and the food I would have travelled all through the week for to go there. Hubby had the steak and ale pie with veg and new potatoes. I had the creamy turkey and mushroom pie, with veg and chips, and they both came with puff pastry topping, cauli, broccoli, sweetcorn, carrots, and swede for veg, and the chips were proper chips not oven.
If we could have fitted a desert in, we would have ha ha. But they also told us to bring the dog in, and provided her with a bowl of water, which they don’t need to do, which was lovely.
Bad Points;
• Pitches slightly closer together than we would have liked to be, no real grassed area to sit down on if you have an awning.
10 amp site which is quite bad for 21st century
• Male owner, is very regimental and quite strict with the rules.
• Whilst we were out, he did move our mat off the grass which was pegged down at the door of the awning, but it was only an inch on the grass, so we were not too chuffed with him touching our belongings, without asking. He could have come to see us when we were back in, or left us a little note, to ask us to move it slightly.
• Area – there is not too much to do really unless you have kids, so its really a beach/amusements type place, and there are a lot of run down areas in surrounding towns and villages. Needs sprucing up.
• Very close to main A52, so quite a bit of road noise, not a lot of peace and quiet really for the whole week we were there.
• Very close to a farm, and very noisy when he is ploughing. Not a lot of peace and quiet really.
• We went all over of a radius of 15 miles and there seemed to be a distinct lack of any nice places to eat, unless you wanted fish and chips, pizza etc all the time, and these were in abundance in the towns, but no real nice looking pubs at all apart from the Wagon and Horses[see good points for info].
Neutral Points;
• No shop on site, but Sutton on Sea only 10-15 minutes walk away, with Spar etc. A co-op and lidl are larger stores in Mablethorpe.
• No bank cash points in Sutton or near, nearest is Louth, but you can get an ATM in the Spar and charge is £1. 75, but they also give cashback for a 50p charge, but the Post Office do it for free in Sutton on Sea.
• There is some odd looking brown stuff that comes in on the tide, which looked a bit dubious, but it didn’t smell or anything, so we don’t think it was anything to worry about.
• If the site was in a different area we would probably come back at some point, but the area put us off, so we are unlikely to return here. We have had other places with lots of different things to do and see that are far better than here.
• 2-3 couples left the site early as they didn’t think much of the area either, so it wasn’t just us, and we are not that fussy. We looked at the reviews on the site on this website as we always do, and it all seemed pretty nice, there were not any negative comments, but they obviously weren’t seeing what we were. If you just want to sit on the site all day every day, then the comments are probably justified, but if you want to get out and about then there is not really anything to do or see, which is a shame.

We have just spent a week at this site but left a day early. Disappointed with the site and the surrounding areas. The owner helps you to park up but I think this is because it is tight for space. Also he (the owner) did not let our jockey wheel down enough and we wondered why our awning wasn't touching the ground!
In my opinion the site looked like a caravan dealership, with all the vans parked on concrete in a row. The photos on their website & brochures have been taken from specific angles to make it look as if there is plenty of greenery but this is not the case.
The dog walk was little more than a disused grass verge on the main road that was overgrown with brambles & stinging nettles but had a path of grass mown through it. Just before their camp-site sign is a council sign saying High Casualty Route, very relaxing !
At night the site is very dark, there is no proper lighting just a few low level lights about 4 ft high. Quite creepy walking round the site after dark.
On grass cutting day there was a sign saying to remove your stuff from the grass strips. On other sites we have been on they usually cut the grass after someone has vacated.
The toilets are indeed 5* but you don't spend your holiday in the toilets.

My wife and I have just returned from a six night stay at this site. I read the last review and was concerned about what we would find. I have to agree with some of what the reviewer said, but would say our own experience was fine overall.
We booked this site as it was part of the Tranquil Parks group and therefore adults only. It is quite a compact site and some of the pitches are a little cosy but the one we had was fine. The site was very, very neat and tidy and generally very peaceful and relaxed. We did not notice any road noise at night. The showers were clean although I found the shower cubicles a bit tight but not really a problem.
The washing machine and dryer were not the newest but worked fine. I found the owners helpful and did not not notice any evidence of them being overly fussy about the site rules. The shops were easy to get to but the Co Op in Mablethorpe was very expensive.
All in all we had a good week and the site was fine but probably wouldn't return only because we felt there wasn't that much to do in the area that interested us. One thing that I feel a site that is worth five stars needs these days is wifi and I missed not having that.

Extremely friendly and very helpful from arrival to departure. This site is definitely Premier League.
The complete site and all facilities are maintained to a very high standard and have never seen toilet and showers as good as these on any other site, never mind as clean.
No worries of mud, gravelled pitches with small grassed area and tarmacked roadways.
Visited Skegness approx 12 miles, Chapel Saint Leonards approx 5 miles, Mabelthorpe approx 2 miles and Festival at Alford approx 8 miles. Nice steady 20 mins walk to beach with dog. Brilliant !

Made a last minute booking at this site so could only be allocated a 'non-awning' pitch. The one we were shown to was more than adequate for our mid-size tourer and we were lucky to have a lawned area to accommodate our camping chairs, table and bbq.
Sutton on Sea was an extremely pleasant resort with wide Blue Flag beach and adequate cafes, takeaways and small shops ( The Dolphin fish bar even delivered to the site. )
We did not take bikes on this trip but we noted that you could easily cycle along the prom to Mablethorpe.
Alford was a pretty market town a few miles away and other caravanners suggested a visit to Louth was worthwhile. A bus stopped on request at the campsite gate and seemed well used.
There are a number of RAF museums to visit in the area, just a short car journey away and Geoff and Margaret have a well stocked information centre to meet most people's needs.
The facilities were well maintained and seemed adequate although the site was full when we visited.
A very pleasant well located site.

The Pitch was wide and of sharp shale with very little grass between pitches and you where not allowed to put a peg into the grass.
The photo on web site show the entrance grass area which is the largest on site. The facilities were excellent and yes 5 star. But the signs every where telling you what to do (step by step) were excessive.
We will not be going back and would not recommend it to anyone. the 5 stars only apply to the toilet block.
Sutton on sea is lovely nearest little supermarket. Mabelthorpe also nice with the beach going on forever and dog friendly.

We have mixed feelings about this site. On arrival, the owner was helpful and guided us onto our pitch. He did, however, outline some rules of the site which were reasonable but not necessary for responsible adults.
However, the site was quite claustrophobic. The pitches were large but had only a small grassed area separating them from the next pitch but some pitches were just continuous gravel.
There were lots of rules in place, which made us feel uncomfortable. There were rules about the use of heaters in awnings, restrictions on the programs which could be used in the washing machine and tumble drier and the request to put an extra 20p in the drier if it started on 40p as opposed to 60p. The washing machine was in need of replacing and the seal was black and stained. The limited programs restricted you to quick, light cycles and slow spin speeds. The drier was fixed so only the coolest cycle was available. My clothes came out damp and needed further coins.
This was a 10amp site but notice was given that this could be reduced to 5 amps at peak periods. We don't quite understand how this site has received top ratings.
The pictures in the guides are false as this gives the site a feeling of space which is not the case. These pictures are taken from the only angle which has open ground. If you are looking for a level site with very clean facilities, then this site will meet your needs.
If you are looking for this in a relaxed atmosphere on a spacious site, then don't go to Cherry Tree. Will we be returning? NO, most definitely not.

Have just returned from a 10 day stay at this site and I can concur with most of the previous reviewers that this is indeed a 5 star site. We were made very welcome by Geoff and Margaret when we arrived and had a choice of pitches as the site was not busy at that time.
Although the 'van is fitted with a mover, Geoff had us reversing onto the pitch and I am sure he could guide you onto a sixpence if required!
The toilet block was immaculate at all times with an abundance of hot water for showers, washing pots and laundry. The site is very quiet even when it was full over the weekend.
The nearby road presented no problems however a few pitches close to some building work adjacent to the site would have been affected by the construction noise.
The closest shopping is in Sutton on Sea, approx 2 miles away with a Spar supermarket, there is a large Coop store in Mablethorpe and the usual collection of small shops and cafes / bars you would expect to find in small sea-side towns.
The sea front area is very clean and there is a promenade stretching from nearby Sandilands (20 minute walk from the site) to Mabelthorpe for walking or cycling.
I would be happy to recommend this site and would be more than happy to return in the future.

This was our first visit to Cherry Trees (the photos looked lovely) and we were so looking forward to it but it will certainly be our last.
From the moment we arrived we were unhappy and felt we had badly chosen. In fairness, the pitches are large and the site extremely well tended but there is just no atmosphere. The caravans resembled a caravan dealership forecourt - with almost as much grass ! The only view - someone else's caravan ! The photographs were totally misleading of the layout.
The toilet/shower block was very clean and this is obviously from whence it derived a 5 star status but we've stayed on sites of equal cleanliness.
And so many rules and regulations to adhere to, not at all relaxing. The owners were pleasant enough when you arrived but soon lost interest and we thought extremely overpowering and at times quite rude and patronising.
The general area is very run down, Mablethorpe, Skegness and we were disappointed. Couldn't wait to leave actually and move down into Norfolk.
