October 2004 Sorry, my comments on this site are a little less positive. The staff were friendly, but I was initially disappointed in the site due to my expectations from the pictures on the web site. I thought that we would see the river and marina from the site, but that is not the case. The level pitches are actually by the dry dock of the marina. The facilities were a portacabin converted into toilets and had 2 small shower cubicles that had seen better days. The walkway leading to the loos were made of pallets that also had seen better days and so didn't seem that strong ( but of course it is the end of the season).
On a more positive note the Bar and restuarant was nice and is great for watching the boating life.
The site is worth a visit for the nearby marina but don't expect a view of it from your camping pitch.

July 2004 Very nice campsite. Fist time ever had fresh cut flowers in a vase in loos and wash room! Wardens and reception very helpful and friendly. Tents packed a little close. Some diesels vacated at 6.00am on both mornings but apart from that fairly quiet. Lots of new campers so quite a giggle helping put up tents, make tea and amuse kids. Brilliant icebreaker! Next to a Marina with a restaurant but we didn't go in there. Everyone else said it was pleasant and friendly.

April 2004 Excellent site, well worth a visit. Friendly wardens, nice clean shower and toilet block. Ideal base for visiting Southhampton, Portsmouth and Gosport. The Submarine Museum is well worth a visit. We plan to do a return trip.

Aug 03 We stayed for a long weekend at this site with friends. We had never been to this site before and were pleased by the friendly approach of the staff. The site and facility's were very clean with no complaints there. The washing up was limited to 1 sink, but we never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. Only one small niggle is the size of the pitches. We were put onto 2 adjoining plots as requested, but the plot size was small. Our Khyam XXL only just fitted onto the plot and there was no real fire break distance between us and our friends. The pitch was fine for a 2 man tent. Some other pitches had a lot more room and would have been more suitable. As we only booked the week before I guess beggers can't be choosers.
The area has loads to do and the children had a great time. Manor Farm country park is well worth a visit ( 15 minutes away). This park borders the Hamble so make sure the children take thier crab lines. The farm is set at the turn of the 19th century and the children loved looking around the old farm house and feeding the animals. Royal Victoria Country Park was also worth visiting. This park borders Southampton Water. For those of us without a fear of hights climbing up the tower of Netley Chapel is well worth it. When you get to the top, 100 ft up, you get a pannoramic view of Southampton Water's ever changing scenery. The park has a minature railway and also is great for kite flying or just lazing in the sun. On the camp site, if you like fishing, there is access to the adjoining foreshore and Mullet were plentifull at 2hrs before high tide. It is difficult to fish at low tide due to the large tidal range on the Hamble giving a very muddy fore shore ( trust me on this one my shoe got stuck in the mud and departed my foot!!)
We will be returning to this site to explore the area more, but we will book well in advance to ensure a larger pitch.

August 2003 We were very impressed with this friendly, well kept site. Despite staying over the August bank holiday weekend, when the site was at maximum capacity, the facilities were kept very clean and tidy at all times.
We felt that we were lucky with our pitch however, with some of the tents being quite close together (but not so close as to be a hindrance). Don't forget your mallet though - you might also have to buy some new tent pegs after a visit here!
The site is about a 25 min walk outside the lovely village of Hamble with several restaurants and bars. There's plenty to do in the area to suit everyone.
This site is most definitely worth a visit!

June 2003 Great site. Nice ground for pitching tents (No bent pegs!), flat level & well drained. Facilities clean and well looked after and warden friendly & helpfull.
Quiet too - no noise from Major roads, railways or flightpaths/airports
Highly recommended.
