Far too crowded - if you like to live in a shanty town full of static caravans and listen to TV blaring out from all the caravans and mobile homes, and enjoy showering in other peoples' filth before coming home with verrucas and athletes foot, then this is the site for you. Clubhouse full of drunks. Got a nice little play area that kept the kids happy for 5 minutes. Very over-priced local shop. Ideal for beach access, and not far to Monkey World. Nice Chinese restaurant up the road. Would not recommend, however, for someone who wants a proper camping holiday.

Firstly a very important point for GPS users, On reaching Bridport ignore your GPS as it will take you down an extremely narrow country lane (1 car wide only) and there is hardly anywhere to turn around with a caravan! A local on a motorbike tried to get to us before the point of no return. Luckily having a 4x4 I managed to perform a u turn in a rough field and get back to the main road. When checking in, I mentioned what had happened and the girl stated it happened frequently and that they had been in contact with various GPS and mapping companies to get it corrected. The park itself is very well equipped and all the staff are very friendly. The swimming pool is fantastic especially for young children. It never seemed too crowded even over the weekend. The pitches were quite narrow and we ended up having to park the car in front of the tow hitch. Even though we were close in, privacy wasn't really compromised. The other campers seemed to be even friendlier than normal. There are only 2 bad points to this campsite. Firstly the ablution blocks were either not being cleaned, or not being cleaned enough, although bog roll and hot water always seemed plentiful. This didn't make sense as the warden was seen litter picking frequently and there seemed to to be an army of cleaners zooming around in their little golf buggy's. Secondly the prices in the shop were horrendous but with a Morrison's only 5 mins away it didn't matter too much. However these 2 points would not put us off staying again. Another point to note about West Bay itself is dogs are banned from the beaches, from start of may to end of September.

Just got back from a weeks holidays at Westbay Caravan Park. On arrival we had to get the wardens to move cars and tents because the pitches are so small that they all over lapped each other. We were assured that this will be rectified next year and bigger marked out pitches will be available. The touring site is over several tiers on the side of a hill. We were on the front tier which was sheltered by the hedge from the wind. But unfortunately the pitch was on a slope which meant it was difficult to get the awning to fit properly. The toilet / shower blocks were not pleasant. When we used the toilet facilities we were not sure whether the showers were leaking into the toilet cubicle or the toilets were leaking. Our 3 year old daughter kept saying these are smelly toilets. So after this first and last time we used these facilities we used our caravan for both showering and toilet. The swimming pool was really good for our two children aged 3 and 6. Lifeguards were available at all times. Excellent play park facilities. We had good weather during our stay so the children were quite happy to go and play there most days. Clubhouse was very good, something for the children and something for the adults. Drinks prices were very reasonable. Overall we had a good stay and may consider going back next year providing that the pitches are sorted. Site itself 8/10 Toilet/showers 4/10

Have just returned from a week's stay at West Bay Holiday Park. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. All had a smile and the evening entertainment was very good for both children and adults. Didn't use the day time entertainment as we went out and about. Swimming pool facilities are very good. Shop is a little expensive but stocks a wide range of items. There is also a Morrisons 5 minutes drive away. The Park is situated nicely to get access to other area's along the Dorset Coast. I only have one complaint which was the toilet/shower block. I complained to the staff at the constant waterlogging of the toilets but this seems to be an ongoing problem. There is no channel for the water to run away at the front of the shower cubicles and it therefore soaks the floor. As people walk through it gets very messy and dirty. The block is only cleaned very early in the mornings when it is in most use. Therefore not really cleaned at all. It would be better for a twice daily clean at approx 11.00am 5pm. The showers also soaked everything and everyone in the adjacent cubicles. When I complained about this also, 2 days later 3 of the cubicles were fitted with new shower heads which were much better although the water seemed very hot. Young children would not be able to stand under the hot water. There is a family/disabled room which provides a bath but you have to be lucky to get in there, or go in the middle of the day. Both hairdryers in the ladies were broken all the time we were there and no sign of being fixed/replaced. The pitch was on a slope, so for those with tents prepare for uncomfortable nights.

Have just got back from a visit to the site. On the whole it was a very good experience. West Bay is very nice, but a bit restrictive if you fancy eating out other than the numerous hot food huts dotted about the harbour. The kids (8 & 4) loved the site and we were happy to let them have a bit of Independence. Good activities on site for kids, Morrison's is 5 minutes away by car and for the last minute bits there is a Cost Cutters on Site although it does seem a tad expensive trading on a captive audience. The touring facilities were fine, for a peek week they were relatively clean and tidy. If I had to complain then it would have been over the size of the pitches. I've a Vango 900, I'd booked a 10M pitch and turned up to find I'd been allocated a 7M. With the tent and a gazebo it was a bit of a squeeze. You definitely felt as though you were living in your neighbours pocket. I'd definitely return

Just got back from 2 glorious weeks at West Bay Holiday Park. We would recommend it to anyone - though obviously the fantastic weather really made the place wonderful!
The site warden was brilliant, and most accommodating. He couldn't do enough to help. Our only minor niggle was with the small size of the pitches, though apparently next season these are going to be enlarged. The small pitches weren't a problem in themselves, but we did feel rather squeezed in at the weekends! Even so, this was far preferable to our Haven holiday last year at Mablethorpe, where the site warden had a piece of rope 6m long, and was measuring to the mm the distance between units!
The entertainers were also excellent at West Bay - very friendly and some of them were very talented! The view from the campsite was lovely - looking out over the harbour and the cliffs - the higher your pitch the better the view! The toilet and shower block was kept nice and clean, though it got a bit scruffy at weekends - still it had endless hot water and toilet rolls - always a must!
West Bay itself was charming. Lots of little huts around the harbour selling various foods and drink, and a couple of cafes and 2 pubs. Everyone very friendly. The main beach was lovely, though rather full of litter at times. Morrisons supermarket was only a one mile drive in Bridport.
All in all a beautiful place and we will definitely return at some time in the future.

We stayed at West Bay for a week in the middle of August. The pitches are tiered and the site was extremely busy. For our liking, everybody was too crammed in and you felt as if you had no privacy. The people in the caravan behimd us had noisy BBQ's every night but the security guards were very good and immediately asked them to turn down the music etc. We didn't use the swimming pool or nightly entertainment as the weather was gorgeous and we tended to take the children for a walk around the harbour in the evening etc. The shop was quite expensive so we only used it to buy milk. The toilet blocks were reasonably clean and tidy although the last two days of our visit were out of commission due to having been set fire to. However, portaloos were quickly installed which caused the minimum of disruption. The shingle beach is literally five minutes walk from the camp site and the water was wonderfully clean and warm. Our only complaints of this site were the number of children zooming around on scooters and bikes at hyper speed who we regularly had to dodge in order to avoid being injured which is difficult with a double buggy and two other young children in tow plus the number of people who let their dogs roam off a lead. We'd use the site again but only for a weekend break as it was a little too hectic for us.

We stayed at west bay for the half term week at the end of may. There were 2 tents and one caravan all with hook ups. We were on the bottom of the site near the wardens hut. (which seemed to be manned constantly and always willing to help) The site is excellent if you have got kids (ours ranged from 3 to 16). There is a small arcade on site and an indoor pool. The club was very busy early doors but after 9.30 started to quieten down (so we could all get seats!) The entertainment was very good. The toilet block seemed to be waterlogged. couldn't work out if it was the showers leaking onto the floor or leaky toilets. West Bay harbour is very picturesque with fishing boats leaving throughout the day (4 of our party went on a deep sea fishing trip and even came back with tea!) We went on the Lime Bay rip which is a speed boat which holds around 10 people. Far better when the sea is rough! Booking again for next year so highly recommended.

Visited West Bay during school half term end May/beginning June. The campsite are was well equipped with taps, waste water disposal areas and electric hookups. The only problems we had was the electric cutting out occasionally but this was soon rectified and the water from the showers seemed to run into the toilet area in the ladies wash room. The tiered pitches enabled us to have a good view over the harbour area. Which we visited on several occasions. Can thoroughly recommend the butcher's across the harbour for burgers and sausages for your BBQ. Seemed to have a shortage of chicken though! Visited Weymouth and Portland while we were there. Weymouth has the best sandy beach and Portland is a great place to sit in the sun and listen to the waves crashing on the rocks. You can also visit the lighthouse. Evening entertainment in the Riverside club was excellent and kept our five year old entertained the whole week. He also enjoyed the swimming pool and adventure playground. All in all a very good week, a lovely place to visit and we would certainly go back again.
