2003 We like this site a lot. All the caravans are lined up with the park set in the middle. So you can keep an eye on kids from most pitches. Lovely food. Clubhouse ok. Kids ok - if well behaved, but not allowed at bar & dont like them running about and don’t sit in the chairs near kitchen door - they belong to a group of 'oldies'. Woe betide you if you sit in 'their' chairs. Been going for 3 years and have noticed that fees are slowly creeping up.

Easter 2004 This was the first time we camped at what I consider to be a commercial site with bar & pool, in spite of being seasoned campers & it will definitely be the last. Having read the reviews here prior to going I was a little fearful of a regimented site but how wrong I was! The staff were cheerful & polite in spite of being really busy, and how busy it was! The pitches are very small & close together & not exactly level & if you want a site that is quiet after 10.30pm forget this one, as it gets really 'lively' at pub kicking out time, with revelry ongoing unchecked until at least 1.30am! The 10mph speed limit gave way to boy racers at night too - not exactly reassuring when you hear them whistle past your ears with nothing between them & you but a few millimetres of canvas! There are 2 toilet/shower blocks which are very well maintained, but I resent paying 20p for showers & plug sockets when the site fees are not the cheapest in the world anyway. My children pestered mercilessly to use the pool & the area itself was warm, however the water is quite cold. I will question the health & safety regulations as children were allowed to swim unsupervised (although a lifeguard was in attendance at all times)& to my disgust the pool became contaminated with faeces which should have resulted in a 24 hour closure & water tests. This pool was simply closed for 30 minutes while the offending stuff was fished out! E-Coli heaven! All in all, too noisy, too cramped & too expensive for me.

Easter 2004 Just returned from a 3 night stay in a tent over the Easter weekend... very busy, very cramped/small pitches and sites not altogether level. Toilet/shower blocks were kept very clean in general, same for the laundry/washing areas etc. There were 2 toilet/shower/laundry blocks on site and in our experience the timing varied (you pay 20p per shower/electric socket for your own dryer etc) we used a hairdryer and straighteners in one block for 20p one night yet another night in another block we paid 60p for the same hairdryer/straightener usage! We tried out the pool and despite it being a fair size and warm with a seperate baby pool, the water temp in both is quite cold. A lifeguard is always on duty but this proved very insignificant to me after I discovered a 'contaminant'(faeces)in the water and despite reporting it and vacating the pool myself, found it was still occupied and not evacuated for an additional 30 mins..... it was then reopened within 2 hours! There are no extra charges for the pool but there are no changing facilities and despite the seemingly heavy rules, children are still allowed in unattended and I observed two children no older than 10yrs petting/kissing in a corner of the pool under observation of the lifeguard who reacted with nothing more than a smile! We found the site was not monitored/policed throughout the evenings as previous reviews had stated.....we as a family like to explore out surroundings and are usually exhausted at the end of the day and hope to enjoy a peaceful evening - this is not the site to visit if you have smilar views! Once the on site club closes at 10:30pm you can expect unchecked revelling until the early hours, and despite a 10mph rule around the camp for drivers and restricted night time access, cars were heard tearing around the camp in the early hours. We are not defeatists and would not say this is the worst site we have visited nor would we say it was the best.... albeit the noisy nights and seeming lack of knowledge/concern on the part of the pool staff re the hazards of potential contamination/disease factor, our overall stay was very enjoyable... are we killjoys or just plain fussy? you are welcome to visit and judge for yourselves, but you have been warned!

August 2003 Just did 2 nights here, mainly for the fishing. Camping wise the site is excellent, level pitches, spotlessly clean toilet blocks. You can't always blame the site for filthy toilet blocks, it's the filthy people that leave them in such a state who are to blame. Bar was good serving reasonably priced meals, no entertainment - who cares, I'm not too bothered about listening to some no hoper pub singer murdering popular music.
£4 charge for fishing the lake, no reduced price for half days fishing.
All in all, nice clean well run site.

July 2003 The shower and toilet blocks were spotlessly clean all of the time. The service in both the bar and shop was quick and friendly the meals served in the bar were reasonably priced and were very large portions, I seen no sign of petty rules or camp commanders. the vans and tents are lined up fairly regimented but othjer than that i found it to be a nice friendly site that i will certainly return to.

May 2003 Visited here before and like the site. The pool is really nice but no changing facilities a bit annoying. The bar gets very full bank holiday weekends and its very difficult with a baby as no pushchairs are allowed. We did, however, sneak ours in as we were right near the door. The showers are not the best and have to be paid for, nowhere to put your clothes. Two baby baths, but people do like to use these for washing up and are quite often full of food in the plug holes. The site can become quite waterlogged after heavy rain and on bank holidays everyone seems very close together.

May 2003 I found the site excellent with clean facilities, a good size free pool, large bar which served sensibly priced, good sized meals, with all the staff pleasant and helpful. There is also a camp shop which fulfills everybody's needs.
I have read the previous reviews and I found the camp rules to be quite sensible. Yobs are not welcome.
So I can't recommend the site highly enough.

June 2003 Staff are helpful and friendly. Good food at a reasonable price. As for previous comments children are not allowed at a bar its against the law!! excellent swimming pool. i think its a good idea that pets can attend the site as i have a dog and it offers a good dog walk.

High Moor is about 4 miles from Harrogate on the A59 Skipton Road.
Site fees were for a tent £10 per night (electric hook-up was extra). There are 2 toilet blocks which were very clean indeed as were the showers which cost 20p, (key required £1 deposit)
The site has a small shop, reception and a bar that offers meals from 7pm which are reasonably priced (11" pizza cheese & tomato £4), but it got very busy as the site was quite full and kids are allowed in, they were also allowed into the adjoining games room. There is quite a large indoor swiming pool. Fishing and 9 hole golf course were also on offer, but not inc in price.
One thing that annoyed me was that they closed the toilet block in the lower field, when most people left on Bank Holiday Monday, even though 4 caravans and 4 tents remained, the occupants of which had to then walk to the next block. As we were at the far end of this field, we had quite a trek to the remaining toilet block. The bar facility, which was also included in the £10 a night charge closed at the same time !!
