First impressions were very good, very clean and nicely kept with lovely views. We stayed on the Adults only field in a tent with hookup the pitches were large but were to far away from the toilet and shower block and for such a large site only one shower in the male and female blocks. Why do sites put tourers near the toilet blocks when they don't need them as much as tents? My opinion was that £20 per night seemed a bit steep? We will not be using this site again.
People with children however, may have a different view they were a lot closer to the shower and toilet block near their field the play area was spacious I must admit I did not look at the pool as it was to far away from our field. The site is not in a bad spot for the tissington trail and surrounding area.

At first glance, Ashbourne Heights is like many other camp sites. The Facilities are good, the fields very nice, the children's play area is fine also. The surrounding area is beautiful with Dovedale and Ashbourne very close. Unfortunately for us our stay here was spoilt by the amount of rules and regulations which my family and I either fell foul of or felt constricted by.
No children on the playground after 9.30am.
No noise at all after 10.30am (I think, it may be later but we were asked to be quiet at roughly that time. The noise in question being talking and laughing.
The tiny swimming pool was pre-book only but you could not book on Saturday afternoon for Sunday morning.
Also, I was told that if my party made noise on the second night, we would be asked to leave in the middle of the night. On our second night we were all very subdued after 10.00pm, but noise from other campers went on until 2.00am, but we aren't one to complain and don't mind others enjoying themselves. So if you are the type of people who think that camping is all about early nights and peace and tranquillity at all times then you will be welcome at Ashbourne Heights. On the other hand if like me and my family you like campsites were people are having fun, socialising and kids are playing, making a bit of noise then don't go there.

I visited this campsite over the weekend with my Son & Daughter-in-law and Grandchildren. I found the facilities up to standard, and when visiting the Toilet block I found this to very clean. We went to the Coach & Horses pub in Fenny Bentley for a meal, I can highly recommend this venue as the meals were piping hot which makes a change from some of the pubs we visited, and were cooked to perfection, and the staff were very accommodating. My grandchildren were delighted with the playground too and they used up some of their energy which they have plenty of. There were plenty of hookups and plenty of room. We shall certainly revisit A.S.A.P.

This was our second visit to this site, the first being in July last year when it was rather wet to say the least. This time the weather was fantastic and we were able to sit out until very late.
We had a pitch with electric hookup and were joined by inlaws on the first night who were allowed to pitch right next to us. The 2 kids once again enjoyed a session in the spotless swimming pool (prebooking for hourly sessions required).
We walked into Ashbourne via the Tissington Trail which has direct access from the site. Lovely walk, 3 miles each way. We bought some great salads and baguettes from a small shop in the town and sat in the park by the river to enjoy them.
The toilets and showers were lovely and clean and they are now open without the need for a key which is better if you have kids that are prone to losing things! We didn't use the on-site take away this time but it looks to be being manned by the same guy as last year so I imagine it will be up to the high standard it was last year-bacon and egg rolls to die for-especially after packing up in the rain!
We took our new dog with us this time and found that although the site dog walk itself is quite small, it is on a public footpath network that goes for miles. All in all I highly recommend this site to all. Enjoy!

Lovely site, well run and very friendly. Loved the pool, kept lovely and clean, showers in the changing room let it down a bit though as they are very dated push button types.
Toilets are plentiful, dog walks are also available and there is also a well stocked shop on site.
The only problem with this site is the drive up into the park. It is a blind corner and very steep, caravans beware. I personally preferred to turn around in the courtyard of the Bluebell pub and then approach from a different angle into the drive.
Bluebell pub up the road (turn left out of drive) is lovely, caters for all kinds of tastes and even allergies, not very big though so get there out in a popular time and you may have trouble finding a seat!

This was our second time at this site. As before this is an excellent site well positioned for the local area, clean site and great facilities (but at £23.00) a night for caravan and hook, inc. 2 Adults 1 paying child and 1 under 4 you expect that). We visited the pool this time (£2 adults, £1 Children for an hour - Pre booked) this is a big plus to this site, very clean and the kids had a great time. We went to the Bentley Brook for evening meal , not extensive menu, but we all enjoyed a freshly made and very tasty meal. Quite expensive but worth the money. Definately coming back here again. As others have stated the Tissington trail is a big bonus running through this site.

Visited this site on first weekend opened, very busy site is very well maintained, and the staff
Very friendly. The pool was an added bonus and very clean. The toilet block now is open to all without a key! the hot water in the showers was very hot but having to keep pushing the button to
Keep the flow was a bind but only a small problem
The surounding area is fine for walkers and cyclists. Plenty of good pubs about .The Coach & Horses in fenney bentley serves fantastic food
As a family run pub it is great,Even has Hendersons relish in shefield wednesday colours!
The tissington Trail can be accesed from the camp site and a walk into Ashboure this way is a lovely walk. All in all the site rates high in our book. They are dog friendly but lack a decent
Dog walk. The one at the side of the Shop is not well sign posted but just ask Mick or Paul and they were more than glad to show me.
The hot food at the shop was great value and well recieved. We will be back.

This is twice now we have visited highfields and on both occasions it was fantastic, the site is clean and tidy the play area is good and the pool is a blessing. The new owners are great and the take away food is good.
But for one night it cost me 23 pound,i was there 24hrs.A pound an hour.Suddenly camping is not a cheap holiday anymore.
Will stick to CL's I think.

Visited this site at the weekend, wardens were very helpful and sent 2 helpers to manoeuvre the caravan into position as the grass was very wet (as you would expect given the last few weeks of rain). Site was very clean, toilet blocks were very clean. Play area is large with table and chairs so you can watch the children. They have an on-site takeaway shop selling food all day from breakfast to evening meals which were reasonably priced with plenty of choice. They have an indoor swimming pool which you can book at reception, we didn't use this on our stay as the pump had broken down but had been fixed as we were leaving. The wardens were always around and asking whether everything was okay. There is plenty to entertain you in the surrounding area, the tissington trail ( for cycling or walking) goes past the site, Carsington Water is a short drive away, which makes a great day out, Ashbourne is only a few miles down the road, which has plenty of shops and Market. There are plenty of pubs within a short radius which have children's play areas and serve food. Overall we would definitely return to this site as it is clean and friendly. I had to cancel my booking originally due to poor health but the Warden told me to choose another date and moved my booking instead of cancelling.

Ok this site has not had any reviews for some time, we have just got back from a weekend from here. There was 3 families , 2 of which were in caravans & us in our tent, its not a bad site but its not great either. They are quite expensive for what they have! the shower blocks are quite dated you have to keep pushing the button for flow of water & they are no longer coined as per previous reviews. The guys from the caravans had quite a far walk to empty the chemical waste as we were on the pitches next to the park! the toilets are a pain for the kids like us who are in tents, you need a key to open the doors so they can not get in on their own! at night there is not lights so take a good tourch. The shop on site is quite well stocked the swimming pool is clean & warm and the kids did enjoy the park once they could get on there from when the rain stopped. Would go back on the grounds that they lower the prices!
