This was our first time camping. On arrival at highfields we had a very warm and friendly greeting, they were very helpful and showed us to our pitch.
All the shower and toilet facilities were very nice and clean, and there was no need for any 20p's for the hot water as it was free. The shop was well stocked and the staff were very nice and helpful.
There is a lot of wildlife around the park which is great to see, so don't be surprised if a hedgehog or rabbit comes to see you at night.
We would recommend this site to all and hope to return ourselves soon.

Just returned from a bank holiday weekend at this site and would have no hesitation in recommending this site. It is a great family site with plesant helpful staff.

There are plenty of signs up telling you why they charge for the showers. I think if you are prepared with plenty of 20 pences this is not really a problem.

The Tissington trail can be reached from the site. The site can also arrange cycle hire which we found really useful.

Great site, clean facilities, friendly staff in a beutiful location.

My wife & I recently (July 2003) stayed at Highfields Farm Caravan Park at Fenny Bentley. The signposts for the campsite are hidden in the trees on the side of the road. The best way of finding the site I guess, is to look for the steel (EX) railway ‘low’ bridge – which is now part of the Tissington trail – this crosses the main A515If you are travelling down the hill, towards Ashbourne, it is the first right turn under the bridge, obviously if you are travelling up the hill from Ashbourne – turn left just before the bridge.Very clean and tidy site - the loos/washrooms were spotless. On arrival the staff were polite, friendly & helpful. There is a large children's play area with slide & climbing frames etc, small shop with all the essentials, indoor swimming pool but no attendant on duty – the pool is monitored by video link to the shop. This is an ideal family site, which we have no hesitation in recommending. They accept tourers, motor homes, trailer tents and tents. Dovedale & Ilam are both close by and well worth visiting - if you've never been before. We read before our visit, comments about 20p slot meters for washing up water & showers etc., we found this to be true, but a notice does explain that the water consumption to the site has been dramatically reduced, as people are no longer abusing the use of hot water, leaving taps running etc. (Once again the mindless few, wrecking for everyone else a once a free service– but some people never learn!) We also read negative comments about the Bluebell Inn. Due to this we never ventured to this hostelry, but dined at the Coach & Horses instead – this is about quarter mile just down the road, on the left. I would highly recommend this pub for mealtimes; the beer is kept in ‘tip top’ condition. The food comes from a wide-ranging menu and is hot & delicious. In our experience, we believe the Coach and Horses excellent value for money regarding quality / quantity. Well worth a visit!

Just come back rom this site and have had a lovely time. We took 3 children and a dog with us, and the children really appreciated the great play area. The dog walk was also really handy and very clean. The site is in a great position for touring the countryside, and the pitches were very spacious. We were very lucky the weather was gorgeous, but we would have appreciated an on-site Pub with food available, and we wouldn't have had to cook. The toilets were spotless, (at least the Ladies were, I don't know about the Gents), we didn't use the showers .
