Stayed for 3 nights and found the warden extremely friendly. We are a tent but asked for electric and were given a choice of places to pitch. It was quiet when we visited but even if it were full there is a large area of ground available for children to play ball etc without bothering other campers. This area to play (including the mound that the children loved) was clearly visible from the tent so made our stay very relaxed. The most relaxed we've been on any site with 3 young children.

The toilets were adequate - 4 toilets in all but I never had to wait. I loved the shower rooms with their own toilet and sink, one of which was large enough for our whole family of 5 to go in together.

The toilets and showers were immaculately clean. The shower was hot all times of the day.

10 min drive to nearest shop to buy food.

Market Harborough was a nice place to visit with several independent restaurants. Easy trip to Leicester.

We are planning to return.

Cost: £36 for two adults for 3 night: reasonable.

We have stayed here a couple of times before and found the site peaceful, grass well tended albeit slightly sloping.

The new reception/shop and entry barrier are a great idea and an improvement on our last stay.

Interestingly there seemed to be two main family groups on site during our stay. One group of families set up an America flag pole (great idea for kids being able to locate their tents) and we watched enthralled as this great group of people dressed up and played cowboys and indians with quizzes with their children.

Whilst other family groups played rounders.

They seemed to respect others around them and children and dogs were well organised and supervised both during the day and night.

Sadly the second group of parents just seemed to allow their children/teenagers to run wild, their screams and shouts could be heard long after dark. I doubt that any fish were caught on those nights.

On such a large site as this perhaps a security petrol would be of benefit for all of us.

The toilet/shower block took quite a hammering and it was unusual to find that two of the light bulbs were not working. These bulbs were not replaced during our stay. Extra toilet paper was found in one of the store rooms. One of the difficulties with so many children on site is the problem they seem to have using the flush handle on the toilets.

Whilst open fires are no longer permitted, bbq's if raised of the ground still are. The EHU are a bit of a nightmare /health hazard as the trailer tent had to trail a long lead down the path to the toilet block. There are EHU pitches along the hedge rows but these are marked with overgrown numbered stones.

DW is available from one standpipe in the main field, and one in the hedge by the left of the toilet block or from the tap in the washing up sink.

The site itself is quite open with little shelter from the prevailing winds although the owners have made some progress in planting new hedge rows.

Overall the owners take great efforts to see all groups and mixes from couples, to those with families, single sex couples and large groups feel welcome. With such an eclectic mix this is not necessarily going to meet with success everytime. Perhaps one idea would be to separate couples and to allocate family groups their own area.

Sadly the best flat, sheltered areas for camping with a tent are restricted for 'the Syndicate'.

We arrived on the site and were given a pitch number, however when we got to the pitch there was a tent next to it that had spread out leaving very little room for us. I went back and asked if we could change pitch and the lady was helpful and agreed.

The site is uneven and we had to use several blocks to get level. The toilet block - I had read it will be updated this year so wasn't expecting the ritz!

There are currently two rooms each having a toilet and shower in them. One of the rooms was very small and difficult to access, both of the rooms were dirty and smelt of urine - not a pleasant experience.

The site is okay but certainly not worth £17 per night. We could not find the where the waste water etc went and when we went looking for someone to ask there was nobody around.

Overall the site was of poor standard and when the new toilet block is built would be improved as would better marked pitched and levelling of the site.

On a positive note the pub down the road does nice food if a little pricey

Visited over Jubilee weekend along with another family - both in tents. Due to the rain the site was not really busy and got 2 pitches with EHU next to each other.

After braving the torrential rain pitching the tents we had an enjoyable 2 night stay. As relatively novice campers we haven't had too many trips to compare facilities with however the facilities on offer here were more than adequate. As mentioned in other reviews there are plans to upgrade the toilet and shower block.

As local people we didn't venture from the campsite but would highly recommend a trip to Foxton Locks if visiting the area from away.

The owner was really helpful and showed us some local walks on surrounding farm tracks - which the kids loved.

My only criticism of the weekend was that unthoughtful dog owners had not cleaned up after their dogs which meant you had to plot a careful path across the field to the toilet block and constantly watch where your kids played.

Lovely site, clean and tidy and spacious. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return for more relaxing days. Beautiful views of the lakes and lovely for dog walking. The shop could really do with a bit more stock but the basics are there. Not tried any of the local attractions because to be honest it so nice just to fish and relax on the site. The only bad point is that there could be a few more rubbish bins around the place but I suppose this would encourage flys, so forget that point.

Lovely little campsite with some great views, made better by having its own lake.

Staff seemed very helpful as one would expect, prices in my opinion are very fair.

As already mentioned the site is fairly level with a slight downward slope towards the lake.

The site does have planning permission for a new toilet/shower block which is great, as there are only 2 toilets and then 2 shower rooms with a toilet in each. Although only 2 showers we didn't find ourselves having to wait around. Facilities were always clean and tidy. Plenty of hooks for hanging items in the shower rooms.

Its a shame that the new shower blocks won't be shower rooms, as its so much nicer to have individual shower rooms with shower, toilet and sink.

There is also a microwave, iron/ironing board and a kettle available to use in the lodge which is a nice idea.

Overall a great site, for good money, I can't wait to go back, but maybe when its not raining.

I have recently stayed here with my family and 2 other families. The owners could not do more for us. The site is in a beautiful location. The shower blocks will be updated this year (the plans are on display) and will provide more shower units, toilets etc.

The on site facilities are great - tumble drier, washing machine, hairdryer, washing up facilities (some additional charge for T/D and W/M). There is also a small shop on site which stocks basic essentials.

The only downside for us was the weather and we were flooded out during the usual bank holiday torrential downpour. We would all definitely return to this site. In the group there were 2 tents and a caravan.

Previous comments have remarked about the noise on site. This year they have taken those comments on board and are resolving the issue. Fantastic - cant speak highly enough! The children were able to run around without ruining other campers enjoyment

We went to Brook Meadow for our first camping trip as a family. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the warden who told us where was available to pitch. We chose a spot next to the lake so my partner could fish close by.

The site was very safe and we felt comfortable for our young children aged 10 & 5 to wander the site and explore. They enjoyed the freedom the site has to offer and we felt assured they were safe knowing they would come to no harm.

For a camp site I was surprised at the facilities. There were 2 shower rooms and separate washing facilities as well as a kettle, microwave and washing machine/dryer. There was 2 sink areas for washing up also. They were cleaned daily.

Local villages have small shops and a pub that serves food.

There is a glider club and off road experiences next door.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. They gave us advice on good locations to pitch the tent and told my partner good spots to fish and best methods of bait to use as to what the fish were currently feeding on.

There are site rules which the staff maintain which meant any noise was dealt with after certain times.

Overall we had a fantastic weekend despite it raining.

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at this site. Although there were plenty of people about, the site was not over-crowded, nor too noisy or dirty and we were very impressed.

The shower, loos and washing up facilities may be limited in numbers but they were very functional and we did not have to wait to use any of them. The added kitchen extras were very welcome and the free wi-fi was a bonus - the washing machine, tumble dryer, baby changing area etc make a family stay so much easier than other sites we have been to. We understand that a new ablution block will be be constructed for next year.

The fishing was good fun and there was loads of space for games of football, cricket and kite flying.

The manager and warden were very helpful and welcoming and the shop saved us leaving the site for milk and ice creams. The other campers were very friendly and the children had a great fun playing together.

We look forward to returning later in June.

Easter 2012 - Spent a very cold but peaceful weekend by the lake, the free hot showers were a godsend. A real shame that camp fires are no longer accepted.

The welcome was warm and friendly, and agree with the new policy of having to check in at reception on arrival.

More attention to the toilets could have been made, as only One was working at the time of my stay.

Overall a wonderful site to spend the weekend, would recommend a stay at Brook Meadow to any one.
