This is our most local weekend getaway site and 99% of the stays we have had have been lovely. Pick an off peak weekend and you get a countryside location with a glider centre next door, plenty of dog walking areas and wide spaces for the kids.
There are two showers and two additional toilets on site plus a washer /dryer. This is a mixed unit site so it caters for anything from huge motorhomes to tents. There are EHU pitches for £17 a night plus plenty of space for tents. The ground is pretty level and well draining.
A word of caution, if you don't like large groups and noise don't pick a high season time to go. It gets very busy, the management are not very fussy about noise curfews and seem to actively encourage large groups who then make a racket.
The facilities are basic and are no where near capable of handling the amount of users that they get. Expect at least a queue several people deep just for the toilet.
We will be going back to this site because it is very convenient. We will just choose a quieter weekend and steer well clear during bank holidays and summer!

Lovely open site, good facilities for a quiet weekend. The kids loved watching the gliders come into land, (they swoop over the site) Helicopter noise was a bit of a shock on the first night, didn't notice it after that.
Campfires are allowed and so there are leftover fires on the ground which can make pitching a tent a little difficult as you have to fit into the space in between!
We drove into Market Harborough, (nearest spot I think for supplies) and then spent a lovely sunny afternoon at Foxton Locks watching the canal boats go through a stairway of locks (£2 parking for a few hours)
All in all, a lovely laid back haven that we will be returning to (with friends!)

Very good site, the owner is very laid back, didn't come to find us for the fees till after two days.
Very, very large site, with very few tents and caravans, lots of space. The toilets where good. Don't complain about the walk to the showers etc, if you choose to use the large space and pitch up 1/2 a milw away.
The fishing lake was good too, some big fish if you choose to wait. No one could tell me about small fish for the kids though. I tried 4 mtr whips a few feet from the side, in shallow water on size 18 hooks and single maggot. The kids where catching small carp, roach and perch nearly every cast. Kept them happy for hours.
The pub/wine bar in Sibbertoft was nearly empty when we went in wearing jeans and trainers. Asking for a meal. They told us they where full up.
We went to the old red lion in nearby Clipston. There we were made very welcome, a lovely old worn at the edges local pub. The landlord could not have been friendlier, and the meals were good, and very reasonably priced.
Will use this site, and eat at the red lion again, no problem.

Stayed at Brook Meadow for the Festival of History weekend. This campsite has a lovely lake and very clean and tidy lodges containing bathrooms with shower, sink and toilet as well as fridge, kettle, microwave, iron, hairdryer for everyone to use. It was a very busy weekend so extra showers and toilets had been brought in to help out. Although it was busy, there was plenty of room for all of us, including fully equipped caravans with their big awnings. We only had a small 3-man tent so we slotted in between them for some shelter from the wind. All in all a very nice campsite and very friendly owners. Will definitely be visiting again on a less busy weekend.

Recently stayed for 2 nights in our tent with a group of friends. A nice quiet site, ideal for a chilled weekend. The only concern I have is that the toilet/shower block is not big enough for the site. They were several groups camping that weekend and we had to queue to use the facilities at times. Other than that the site was clean and tidy. Kids loved just being able to play in the open space even tough there was no play area. Would definitely return to the site for another weekend. There are no other facilities on the site but there is a pub in the local village.

This is a huge site, pretty much divided into two, an area by the fishing lakes for the fishing folk and a large well drained flattish field for everyone else.
The facilities are not really adequate for such a big site, two shower/bathrooms and two other loos, so there were queues even though the site was by no means full. At £17 per night with HU we felt the facilities should have been better.
The ground was rock hard so heavy duty pegs were the order of the day.
The owner was friendly enough but only put in an appearance as we were packing up to check if we had paid on arrival (we had), which was a pity, he might have come in handy as there were quite a lot of noisy youngster, especially the ones with drum and base 'music' on loudly till 4. 30 in the morning! Beware campsites that allow fires, it encourages 'party' groups!
Dogs were allowed to roam free (including the owner's dogs) with the inevitable results of dog poo on the camping field so care had to be taken when kids were running about.
In all the site wasn't bad but I don't think it's for us so won't be visiting again

Stayed on this lovely site for the first time for two nights and had a great stay. Met by the very friendly, helpful owner and given a choice of hookup pitches.
We chose the one in the upper field as it was quite crowded near the lake. Found the toilets clean and the showers were hot! The site wasn't too busy though, maybe need more toilets if it were busier.
Had a lovely walk around the lake, our dog loved it! Very quiet overnight, no light pollution so the stars were beautiful.
Lovely countryside, Market Harborough the nearest town is great for shopping and cafes. The Naseby battle field sites in the area are well worth a visit.
All in all a great weekend, just hubby, the dog and me, we will return!

Just returned from a great weekend at this site arrived on Friday late afternoon no-one around so good job I was meeting people as would not have know where to pitch. Picked a lovely spot just by the lake as did not require EHU, between some trees as quite windy. There are cut of signs stating no campers but only found them later.
Had a good basic facilities which as there were only a few of us were not tested to any limits, however after a bad night with my son the washer and dryer came in very useful as did the fridge. Shower and toilet block were reasonable clean.
Lakeside views are great with some fabulous photos of sunsets taken. The walk around the lake was somewhere to chill and kids had a great time round the lake and in the nearby woods so much to keep them entertained so no need for any play area.
The bird life noise is slightly off putting but that's nature just wish they did not get as early.
Only off putting thing about the weekend was the shooting but only as my dog was scared and ran off.
As only a small group of UKCS members all of whom brought dogs the kids and dogs roamed free (we did clear up after them) and the fact that we were allowed fire pits down by the lake made the weekend wonderful.
A superb site to which I will return too and which I would recommend highly

While the site is very attractive and the £12 price charged for our tent pitch was very reasonable, we stayed over a Saturday night on a bank holiday weekend and the facilities were inadequate for the number of people.
Children had to queue for 15 minutes in the morning to use the only toilets. The toilets and the shower cubicle looked dirty.
This put us off staying the extra night and coming back in future.

We decided to try out our new tent at this site as it is very local and very reasonably priced - £17 with EHU, £11 without per pitch.
We pitched on the camping field, they have recently rehedged the field so now there is a view of the fishing lake from this field. The field sloped slightly and you seem to be able to pitch where you like. There are a few picnic tables and metal bar b q drums scattered about and a fire pit in the middle of the field. This is our kind of camping and while Oscar the farm dog and our dog Charlie played tug of war with a stick, we pitched up.
The toilets are in a wooden cabin and are very clean. There are 2 bathrooms with a toilet, sink and shower in each. There are also 2 washing up basins, table and chairs, an ironing board, books, a kettle and a microwave in the cabin to use.
There's no play are for the kids but there is plenty of space to explore. There seems to be a few pathways around the lake and beyond (I only walked around the lake, which was a pleasant short walk). We are not fishing people but if that's your thing then the fishing lakes for you, I assume it has fish in it and there's some pictures in the cabin of some whopping great fish.
Locally there is lots to do within a short drive: the campsite is next to The Gliding Club where you can enjoy a coffee in the cafe and take a flight for £20.00. A five minute drive away is the village of Arnesby and it's fabulous Indian restaurant Little India and there are plenty of pubs locally serving pub grub. Further affield there is the Brampton Valley Way and Pitsford/Brixworth Country Park and Reservoir, all fabulous for traffic free cycling and walking. There's Foxton Locks, Stanford Hall and Hatton Farm. Market Harborough is a lovely town to visit and Welland Park in Market Harborough had a new fabulous adventure play area for the kids. The Buddhist centre at Kelmarsh sells Illey coffee at a reasonable price and fresh vegetarian snacks and the fabulous Kelmarsh Hall is also open to the public on various days. I could go on as I am a Leicestershire lass and love my county, a hidden gem and this campsite is ideally placed for exploring the Shires.
