Great site! first caravan and camping club site I've stayed on and I ended up joining! Facilities plentiful and spotless, wardens very helpful, we stayed on a spacious fully serviced pitch with a lovely stream nearby, a nearby footpath leads straight to a forest for the walkers and most pitches have views of the nearby lakeland fells and mountains. Will definitely visit again next time we go to the lakes.

Well first off we were worried that the site was not going to be up to much! we pulled down the ramp and all we could say was wow wow and wow, the views, the wardens, everything about the site was brilliant! The toilets showers clean and warm, the wardens pleasant. Then the day before we were due to go back the car broke down. to cut a long story short car was fixed under warranty within three days BUT as for the wardens they could not of been any more help at all nothing was too much trouble they helped out they could said we could stay there as long as was needed till car was fixed. Even offering to tow it elsewhere on site if they ran out of pitches no matter how hard I try and think about bad things on site there is not one hope you enjoy your stay there we are going back there this Fri for ten more nights enjoy :)

I would agree with all the comments, this really is a superb site. View are beautiful, it is very quiet, very friendly staff and facilities are excellent. The Troutbeck Inn, is about a 20 minute walk along the road (there are no paths). I would recommend the delicious food, the portions are huge! There is a bus service (X4,X5) once an hour into Keswick from the A66 which is near the pub. We cycled from the campsite towards to Dockray where there is also a nice pub. There are lots of walking opportunities close to the campsite. We walked from Aira Force over Gowbarrow Fell which offers superb views over Ullswater.

Stayed on this site for only two nights but will definitely be returning. There was nothing to fault toilets and showers beautifully clean and warm with underfloor heating ideal for this time of year. Unfortunately no pitches for tents. EHU and aeriel sockets guarantee a good TV picture. Good sized pitches for caravans. Games room for children with table tennis. Troutbeck Inn was about a mile down the road and we had a delicious meal there. Situated between Derwentwater and Ullswater with spectacular views of Blencathra from your caravan window what more could you want.

What a lovely site. We were there during some strong gales and rain, so suggest you don't choose a pitch on the lower area next to the activity centre and the stream if the weather looks bad!
Wardens were superb and the toilet blocks immaculate. I'm afaid our boys did break a few rules and they were kindly told not to climb the decorative rocks - no offence taken!
We would love to go back to this site soon. You can get enough food at the shop for a good meal. Recommend Booth's cafe in Keswick for respite! Stock up if cost is an issue as Booth's store aint cheap!

July 2005 Excellent site, clean, tidy, friendly staff. Shower and toilet blocks immaculate. Liked being able to pick our own pitch. Plenty to do near by, we visited with four kids and they were kept occupied at all times. Small stream on site for the kids to paddle in. Activity centre next door. Penrith and Keswick only 9 miles away. Well worth a visit, we will be back.

April 2004 This is a Caravan Club site. If you like fell walking with spectacular scenary then this is the place. The site is siuated just off the A66 Nr Penrith. On arrival we met the extremely friendly wardens who could not do enough to welcome us, we chose our pitch which had the most fantastic views. The wardens office stocks the usuals, bread, milk, sausages, grocery's, newspapers (to order,) ice cream, and maps and plans of local attractions. If you have kids then there is an activity centre next door which includes quad bikes, all terrain vehicles, horse riding and loads more. The toilet/shower blocks had privacy cubicles and were kept in immaculate condition open 24hrs. There is also a small playground for the wee ones If you travel just 5 minutes from the site you are in fell walking country and a good pair of walking boots are essential. We will definately be going back to this site and if you want peace and quiet then I highly recommend it
