We stayed at Fishpool Farm twice during May, once when the site was full and once when almost empty. We had a fantastic time both times - the site is great, really clean and well laid out. It was great to be able to see the play area from the tent - good to know the children were safe without standing next to them. Joan was lovely, really helpful. The bathrooms were spotless and with all the black and white tiles looked more like a hotel bathroom. The only gripe was that if we didn't get to the shower early enough it was not very warm, however, a new block is being built which should stop this happening.
You can buy fresh eggs in the shop - we recommend the goose eggs - we fought over the one we had!
Excellent - would recommend to all!

What a great find! This site is well laid out with plenty of space between units on the edges of the fields (perhaps a little closer in the middle; depends how many extra shelters / cars etc you bring!)
Generally flat all grass pitches.
Plenty of space for children to play.
Friendly helpful owners.
Clean toilets / showers / laundry and washing up facilities with more being built.
Yes the hot water did fluctuate at really busy times but hopefully the new block will help.
Electric hook-up and water points readily accessible.
Don't forget you are in the country so be prepared for the Cockerels and Geese waking you at dawn.
Good site for cycling to Delamere Forest - straight route approx 2 miles (caution if you have younger children as the roads are busy especially at the 2 junctions)
Limited shop on site but local general store 1 mile towards Delamere had a wide range of basics and in the car you're never far from a village / town.
Unless you are really fit and a very keen cyclist you would probably need to take the car to explore but there is plenty to do in the surrounding Cheshire Countryside.

Agree with all other reviews, that the owners are very friendly and helpful.
Mainly flat / gentle slope and some ground is uneven. Great drainage no problems despite a full night of heavy rain.
Toilet blocks are super, modern, warm and cleaned regular, however the doors on the shower cubicles were a bit tricky.
Great play area for the children and with the oneway system its really safe.
Only down side is the road, A54 very close and noise did disturb us, however if you are good sound sleeper it shouldn't put you off.
Overall a good site.

Stayed from the Thursday right through the Easter weekend.
Very warm welcome on arrival. And was allocated my pitch quickly.
Layout of the site is excellent with a one way system making it a bit safer for kids.
Positives:
Very clean modern site with plenty of electric hookups.
Clean facilities (most of the time).
Childrens play area.
Negatives:
The hot water kept going off at various times due to overuse. This looks like its being catered for by another shower block being built. I hope this has its own hot water supply and it doesn't just simply connect to the existing one as this would make the problem worse.
The toilet blocks have code locks on them that seem to be closed at night/evenings. I understand there needs to be some way of locking up the doors throughout the night but still providing access but this tends to happen at some times during the day. Its just a bit of a pain.
No site shop to speak of. A few drinks in the fridge.
The toilet blocks although spotless most of the time are cleaned once a day at 12. I'm not sure this is enough and there were some pretty grim findings during the evening that were not dealt with until the next day.

What a great Easter Weekend! Apart from the thunderstorm on Friday evening, but even then we managed to keep the barbie going.
Anyway - great site. Superb one way layout makes it really safe for the kids. Good play area and footy area. Smashing dog walk, it looks like the owners have cleared some scrub this winter to make the most of the space. Fabulous amenities block, I've never seen anything so good (or clean).
Down side? Be careful on the dog walk, loads of rabbit holes. The area isn't completely sheep fenced in so if you let Fido off his lead he could leg it under the fence.
Every pitch was full and this had an effect on the supply of hot water in the showers and pot wash.
However the owners are extending the block so hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past. I'm sure it was just down to the site being full.
What to do in the area? We only live 8 miles down the road! I would say walking and cycling in Delamere Forest.Have a look around Chester (catch the train in from Delamere station). A tip - Delamere stores, one mile up the road from the site sells Cowards' Pies, a local delicacy.
Only drawbacks - the road, we didn't notice any noise but if you were closer it could intrude, and paying £30 for a 4 man tent with EHU - perhaps £5 a night above the going rate.
But the best bit is the owners, lovely people, really trying to make sure you are having a great time. They even did a free Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday.

We booked this site at the last minute - waiting to see what the weather would do! Lovely lady got back to me very quickly and Friday at work went much better knowing there was a weekend getaway ahead!
The site is new and looks new, but that's not a criticism at all, everything about it is so good, I really can't think of a criticism.
The toilet/shower block is lovely, smart, black and white with free hairdryers, a few pretty touches and extremely clean. One suggestion we have is that a stool or chair in the shower space would be very helpful, but bravo for providing plenty of good hooks and somewhere sensible to put shampoo etc.
There are a few things on sale in the reception/shop - basic useful stuff and some earrings and things too. There is a play area for younger children, which has now been moved to where the picnic area was, away from the entrance. There are loads of hook up points and it is not far to any water point.
We didn't try out the pub, but did get a pizza from Winsford (i think it is called winsford kebab shop) nice pizza and a good price. Winsford has all the things you would expect nowadays, a few take-aways, most standard high street shops.
There is a large morrisons the far side of the town. If you go left out of the site, and straight over the next two crossroads, delamere stores is just a couple of hundred yards further on (5 mins tops by car). A nice little village shop with some decent quality bread, pies and nice picnic type things available - keep going straight on and you can enjoy your picnic in Delamere Forest.
For more 'touristy' shopping experiences there is blakemere craft centre, or tarporley village centre, a good deli, butchers, specialist chocolate shop, with a huge range of sweetie goodies, plus nice pubs and places to have a coffee.
There's a good bookshop, just down the A556 to the right (past the discover caravan place - very handy if you forgot something/it broke!) where you can also enjoy a free tea or coffee, decent range of books and a lovely atmosphere.
There is loads to do in the area but it is also a nice site to just relax on. There are tourist information leaflets on site and a tourist information centre 10 mins away in Delamere forest (parking charge I think).
The lady warden is delightful, friendly, helpful, remembers your name etc.She offered to see if she had any spare butter when we mentioned forgetting ours. It's a very warm welcome which really makes a difference. She said my ancient folding camper looked like an old fashioned sweetie shop, which lifted my daughter's spirits about being in the oldest unit on site quite a lot!
There is a bit of road noise at times and there were some very selfish motorcycle users roaring past early on Sunday morning, so maybe this is not for those who like utter peace and quiet, but everything else about it is so good that if silence is not a major factor for you this is a really nice site. We will be back!

Third visit to the Fishpool as handy for where we live. Good play area, lovely toilets/showers (which would benefit some heating), very friendly owners. More showers etc being built.
Never been in peak season, but defo recommend it for a quiet weekend 'off peak'. Play area would be better where picnic area is in my opinion. Not convinced about locating it at site entrance!

This is one of the best campsites. I have camped on. As all the previous reviews have stated. The campsite is first class. Facilities superb. All the toilets and wash /drying rooms immaculate. Spotlessly clean. Lovely oval layout, track with designated pitches with plenty of room.
The campsite has a nice user friendly look to it.With a wood in the background. After a hard day's cycle on the 19th November a lovely winter’s day, I arrived out of the mist in the cold freezing fog. To camp for one night.
I received a warm and very friendly welcome, from Joan the Warden. Who made me feel like I had been on site before and showed me all the facilities and the best place to pitch my small tent. It was a very cold Icy freezing foggy night. But Joan's helpful and friendly manner put me at ease. It was not a pleasant night for camping 1C then zero overnight. The next morning Joan came to see how I had survived the night. Nice personal touch. There Is a local pub very close by. And Is In a good area for visiting Cheshire sightseeing and recreation.
This Is the nearest you would get to 10/10 rating. But for the noise from the main road. 'This should not deter' Campers / Caravanners as this site Is a credit to the owner and wardens striving to achieve a very high standard.
I would highly recommend this Campsite. And hope to return In the Spring /Summer for lots of visits.

Three night stay at this site. Pitches are pre allocated but any pitch would have been ok. Toilet blocks the best we have seen in over 20yrs camping and have a combination lock for extra security at night, lights on sensors to conserve energy when not in use, modern vanity units free hairdryer showers are an individual changing room with clean modern shower (more being planned). Pot washup in heated room again with combination lock and laundry in an adjoining room all very clean. Lots of electric hook up points and site well lit at night. Nice dog walk in a small wood that overlooks the Site. Rabbits and squirrels seen in the evening and sightings of badgers. A hog roast was put on by the owners on sat, lovely sunny evening very relaxed atmosphere. Not much nearby to do but if you want a quiet getaway this is an ideal site.

We stayed at the campsite for three nights from the 1st September 2010. We were warmly welcomed and shown where to pitch the tent. The site is very well maintained and has a new and very well appointed toilet block including laundry and washing facilities. The small office also has a range of local products such as milk and eggs and some campsite essentials, ie Heinz beans, etc
Some people have complained that the grass is too long, I think this is not so it's just as it should be. 95% of the site is on flat ground which seems to be well drained. For those using electrical hookups there seemed to be plenty. Whilst we were there most pitches were for tents but by saturday quite a few caravans had arrived and there seemed to be plenty of space for them, even the larger types with twin axles.
The shower block is free to use and there was plenty of hot water. It was kept very clean during our stay and this is not something that can be said of other campsites we have visited in over 20 years. Definitely up there in the top five I would say.
Road noise is not really a problem although I think a motorbike meeting at Oulton Park nearby meant that on Thursday and Friday evening we could hear the visiting cyclists 'enjoying' the local roads with their 1200cc machines.
We visited Delamere Forest and did several sections along the Sandstone Trail all only a few minutes drive away. The Fishpool Inn adjacent to the campsite is worth visiting but you may need to book as the food is excellent and the whole place very popular. We had Fishcakes with chilli dip and duck breasts (2 each) with an orange sauce which was very well cooked and cost £33 which we though reasonable for two adults.
Overall, a very pleasant well managed and cared for site clearly run by people who want to do things right. We paid £15 per night which we think is about right, other sites charge much more but we are unlikely to go back or recommend them. Fishpool Campsite is definitely worth visiting.
Overall 9.5/10
