Although new to caravanning in 2008, we have visited many sites throughout England. The best by far is Trewethett Farm. Our main priorities are excellent showers and plenty to do for our 2 border collies, Jake and Bruce. To say that our expectations were exceeded at this site is putting it mildly.
When we arrived I was slightly disappointed to find that the only space available for us was in the field at the far end of the site. We were told that as other pitches became available we could move. However, it turned out to be perfect for us as access to the cliff top walks was just yards away from our pitch, the sunsets were magnificent and we fortunately had storm straps for the awning! Needless to say, we did not move.
In respect of the showers and toilet blocks, we did not use the temporary showers in the field as it was only a short walk to the main block, they were in excellent condition and always clean.
We had a number of trips out around Cornwall, but we were more than happy just to stay on site on sunny days. The walks for the dogs are fantastic, the views are stunning and the site is lovely.
We had intended to finish our holiday at another site nearer to home, but we cancelled this and stayed on at Trewethett as we thought that going somewhere else would have been an anti-climax to the holiday.
None of us wanted to come home, we could have stayed forever!

Our third visit in as many years, this is a remarkable site situated right on the cliff top on the wild and beautiful north Cornish coast between the little seaside villages of Tintagel and Boscastle.
The reason for visiting is simple - the area is gorgeous, and the site is set right at its heart, ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching etc, and there's a small beach (not accessible at high tide) about 15 minutes walk along the (very steep and physically demanding) cliff path. Both villages are also within walking distance, and an hourly bus service passes the site gate (last bus is about 6pm).
Facilities on site are of the usual excellent CC standard. The shop on site is very basic (bread, milk, eggs etc).
On our latest visit we suffered from wild weather - heavy rain and high winds - which is always a risk on such an exposed site. Many of the grass pitches were unusable for several days, and the wardens had to contact some people to delay their arrivals. We had to move from a grass (mud!) pitch to a hardstanding, but it was all handled as well as possible by the wardens.
Awnings must be pegged down and tie down kits are essential! Even though we were fully equipped, we opted to do without the awning due to the winds.
The area is not overly commercial, and has a terrific 'alternative' vibe. There are plenty of places to eat locally - a favourite is The Cobweb pub in Boscastle, which offers great beer and good value food.
Many people return to this site time and time again, and for good reason. It's a fabulous place!

This is the first time we have had a view of the sea and what a view! the sunsets were amazing and just a short walk to lovely Bossiney cove where dogs are allowed. The toilets and showers spotless although did close for cleaning quite early at 10.30am. The coastal walk into Boscastle had the most amazing views and great cider in Boscastle made the walk back much quicker! Will be visiting again.

I visited this site for two nights at the end of July/beginning of August and this was definitely the cleanest site that I have ever used. Despite being quite busy, the toilets and showers were always completely spotless and there was never any rubbish whatsoever around the site.
The field for the tents is quite exposed on the top of the cliff and is therefore prone to being windy but the fantastic views are definitely worth it. There is a portacabin on this field with toilets and showers, which sounds worse than it is, as once again, the toilets and showers in this were just as clean as the main block. I do not agree with the previous comments that the water was too hot. Yes, it was not adjustable but the temperature was just perfect. Perhaps they have since adjusted it.
The site shop is basic but sells the essentials. The pasty shop in Tintagel is fantastic and there is also a Spar and a Londis plus a butcher, which also sells fresh fruit and veg in the village. There are wonderful cliff walks from the site and a great sheltered beach for kids and dogs, down the cliff at Bossiney Bay.

Another fantastic holiday at this site.
It was full when we got there (it always is) we were told to pitch up in the top field, glad we did as you really do get the best views and sunsets from there.
They put portaloos and showers up there to save a 2 minute walk to the normal block, the loos are perfectly adequat and always spotless, though I wouldn't recommend the showers in this block, the water is far too hot and you can't adjust it.
The shop sells the usual basic items and the wardens are more than friendly, they have the best job in the world on a sunny day, no wonder they are always happy.
We had 5 days of unbroken sunshine, we were able to watch the Peregrine Falcons that have been coming back for the past 25 years, feeding their 3 chicks on a daily basis just outside the campsite on the costal path.Fantastic to see them hunting and feeding.
Boscastle is 2 miles away and they have almost completed the flood defence work, they really have recovered well from the floods, and Port Isaac (where they film Doc Martin) is only 7 miles away are both well worth a visit.
You really have to visit this site to appreciate how beautiful it really is, we haven't found a site anywhere like it in this country.
You need to book in January to ensure you get a summer slot.

We used this site in the summer holidays. Have walked through site recently though to get to coastal path. The site itself is very good and has clean excellent facilities. It is in a fantastic position overlooking the end of a valley that runs into the sea. The sea views are outstanding especially the sunsets and you can walk from the site directly along the coastal path to Boscastle or Bossiney. there is no pub within strolling distance, but Boscastle only about 1/2 hr walk and Tintagel similar. The downside of the site is the regimental nature of some of the staff (seemd to be bosses). We go on holiday with friends and whilst understanding in fairness that you can not save pitches, the staff wouldn't even allow us to ask people around us when they were going, to see if we could arrange for friends to arrive or move to their pitch. When you have young children you really need to be close by. The site can get very windy for awnings as on cliff tops. Fantastic beach at trebarwith strand only about 10 minutes drive away with toilets and cafe and car park. Everything you need at a beach with rock pools/caves/nice sand/ waves and good swimming with lifeguards.

Mrs MG and I stayed here for a week in August 07 (I think) - put simply, this is the best campsite I have ever stayed on. Incredible location, with wonderful clifftop walking in either direction. A lovely secluded swimming/boogyboarding beach is 15 minutes walk away along the coast path. The tent pitches are spacious, level and well kept and we were pitched right by the path so we had uninterrupted views out to sea.
The showers and toilets are fine, always clean. The laundry and washing up facilities are excellent. The shop is well stocked. A bus service which stops anywhere on the road following the coast. I really cannot find anything to grumble about! Tintagel is a bit touristy but that's fine, you don't have to spend much time there other than for groceries. On a good day, try getting the bus to Crackinton Haven and walk the cliffs back to the campsite having dinner at a pub in Boscastle on the way: it doesn't get any better.

I stayed at this site years ago before the club aquired it and although the amenities were rubbish have alwats wanted to return - well this year we did and I am more than impressed with the improvements ! the pitch was level , the view was fantastic , the wardens were helpful , and the strawberry man that delivers to your pitch once a week was a bonus !
There is fresh fish delivered to the site on thursday as well although if you take a rod you can get it fresher and for free !
There are two small beaches very close by but take care on the way down .
Tintagel to your left and Boscastle to your right or if you want to go a bit further out try Crackington haven - Good beach and not a bad pint (foods not bad either but a bit pricey)
The showers are fine but they do close them a bit early for cleaning
Bring your tiedown kits in case it gets windy and try it out for yourselves - youll love it !
I wont wait so long next time to go back
Show me a better view to wake up to

This site is a real gem with terrific sea view from all the pitches .
The shower blocks where spotless and warm.
The site does however suffer from strong winds so please if you are putting up an awning please use your tie down kits as they are needed.
You can also buy scones and clotted cream from the wardens at the reception which I can vouch for.
The roads down to the site are quite narrow and steep so follow the caravan clubs directions and take care.

Wonderful site overlooking the North Cornish Coast and right next to the coastal path. Usual Caravan Club excellence, site well managed and clean. Get pitch No 47 it's the best. It's a bit of a hike to the beach but worth it - watch out for wind I lost the awning when a 40mph gust took it over the top of the van. Lots to do in the area go to Padstow
