This was our first time camping and we enjoyed the experience a lot. William (owner) was very friendly and helpful, chatted to everyone on the campsite. The washing up facilities were great, and the showers and toilets etc were always clean and well stocked. Recycling facilities were available and well used. Drinking water taps located around the campsite.
Only negative thing we can say is that when the campsite got busy there wasn't a great amount of space to park all the cars
Pub and shop in walking distance and Stonehenge around a 5 minute drive away.
We visited Longleat from here and was around a 30 min drive, definitely recommend a visit there!

We had a very pleasant stay at Stonehenge Campsite. We are from the U.S. , and came specifically to this area for the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge on Tuesday Morning June 21, 2011.
The site was easy to reach via bus from the Salisbury train station, although you have to be sure to walk around the corner when leaving the rail station, to find the bus stop. Also, the last bus is at approximately 5:30 PM on weekdays, and it's much more expensive if you miss it and are forced to take a taxi. Keep this in mind if you are coming, and don't have your own transportation.
The shuttle provided by the campsite specifically for the Solstice, was quick, easy, and reasonable. Got us there and back, while cars were still backed up leaving the Stonehenge parking lot. We did not use the showers, but they looked nice and clean, especially for a campground.
The owner of the site was pleasant, helpful in responding to email questions, and the other campers encountered at the site were friendly.
If we were coming again for the solstice, we would gladly stay here.

We visited this site for the Summer Solstice, not quite knowing what to expect but what a very pleasant 5 days we had. The owner, William, was there to greet us on arrival and show us around.
Extra toilets and showers were provided for this busy time, always clean with plenty of hot water.
Campfires were organised each night and he even shared his damson gin with the visitors, as well as laying on cheap coaches to Stonehenge, 4 miles away.
Good walks, nice pubs and a farm shop and garage close by too. It was less a camping trip among strangers, more a welcoming homecoming by old friends.
We will return!

We had a night here over the Easter weekend. The campsite was very quiet which suited us perfectly.
It is a fairly small campsite with space for a few motorhomes and then 3 fields for tents.
The site is very well kept with an excellent shower/toilet block and really nice landscaping.
It is very well looked after by the owner/site manager who couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful in setting us up and directing us around the local area.
The closest village (Berwick St James) is a short (10/15mins) walk and well worth a visit. Very glad we stayed here and not on one of the larger campsites.
Not sure how good the campsite would be if it were crowded. The shower / toilet facilities are fairly small so there may be long queues.

Great little site, nice location and suprisingly quiet bearing in mind busy A350 was less than 1/4 of a mile away.
Owner, William, is a lovely chap and very helpful, he even sorted out an electric hookup for our Gazebo.
Site is great for children with plenty of space to run and play.
Shower and Toilet Facilities are a little basic, but were kept nice and clean and well stocked with loo paper etc. Could do with more showers for busy times, but didn't really cause too much of a problem.
Washing up area is very good, we also liked the fact that there were facilities to recycle virtually everything.
Some lovely footpaths for walks which can be accessed directly from the site. The Village of Berwick St James is a short 10 minute walk away, and has a lovely pub, and a very well stocked Farm Shop.
Would we visit again? Yes we would and are already booked in for next year.

Check prices before booking
We normally use CL’s & CS’s & other 5 van sites, paying on average £10 per night.
This site is a beautiful well maintained site with loads of recent plants/hedges/trees planted. It has 5 hard standings and a separate camping area.
The owner is really friendly & helpful.
The site is let down by poor toilet/shower facilities, only 1 combined shower/toilet for men, & 1 combined shower/toilet for women. This was not used.
Lots of good walks and pubs nearby.
The weekend visit was spoilt on the day of leaving, when we were presented with a bill of £54 for 2 nights. The tariff consisted of everything that is possible being added on as extras, electric, awning not used, dog, hard standing, etc, etc.
£27 per night for a site that offers nothing is ridiculous.
The owner offers a bribe of £10 credit on your next stay, for each positive feedback/reference that you provide on given websites.
We will not be going back.

We stayed at Stonehenge Campsite on the May bank holiday weekend and had a thoroughly great time. William is a very relaxed host who appears very passionate about his site - although 'baby' might be a more appropriate term!
We hope very much that his planning issues are resolved which will allow him to improve the site facilities in the way he wants. If you like a campfire this is the place to come!
Facilities are absolutely fine with a permanent block and extra portaloos as required. Even though it is only 10 miles or so from our home we will definitely be returning soon. Have marked down a couple of ratings but only being ultra-critical!
Site location as there was a little bit of noise from the A303 and facilities as currently there are only 1 male and 1 female shower. Value for money marked down as this is a site where you pay for extra people in tents etc - not a problem, but you have to lose points when there are sites around that just charge for the tent.
Oh, the wife says the washing-up facilities were really good! One piece of advice for visitors - take a saw as the firewood is wonderful but big!

This is a small but very friendly site with a most helpful owner, space for caravans and camper vans and a more secluded field for tents where you can enjoy a real fire.
The amenities are simple but clean and functional and there are full recycling facilities. Gas bottles are also available for sale (both butane and propane).
The location of the site is also wonderful, just off the A303 but with very little road noise, and Stonehenge really is just a few minutes drive away. There are also lovely country walks immediately from the site. Highly recommended. We will be going again!

What a super find! A perfect, friendly and picturesque site, william is such a friendly chap full of local information and cannot do enough for you! Trying his best to landscape the site to a high standard with many shrubs, trees, flowers and herbs. Great hot showers, and plenty of hot water in the wash up area. Its situated just off the a303 but far enough away that traffic noise is not a problem, the site was just great for us along with our dog as there are superb footpaths directly from the site, we walked for miles and miles! Stonehenge is approx a 4 mile walk each way, which we did! There are 2 pubs within easy walking distance also a farm shop in berwick itself. Don't know why I'm telling you this as I want to keep this little gem all to myself! I would be totally gutted if next time I want to go its full and cannot get in! Please go and support william as he is working tirelessly to make this wiltshire best caravan site and totally succeeding!

We stayed alongside a caravan on the Caravan Club part of the site. This was a pleasant, small site although some traffic noise could be heard. There were 2 ladies toilets and 1 shower, and in the gents, there was just one toilet/shower cubicle for sole use, so it could be a long wait for the men. Washing up facilities were OK, although very high. Each site had a picnic bench which was useful.
There were good walks directly from the site, and The Boot pub nearby served excellent food. The farm shop nearby was also useful.
Overall, it was a good weekend stop but it was very pricey for the facilities available, especially in peak season. William, the warden, was very friendly and helpful.
In addition, there was a tenting convention at the same time with loud music playing into small hours. Check before booking, unless you want to party late too!
