Just spent a very enjoyable week at Southerley after managing to make a very last minute bank holiday booking with the very nice and helpful site manager Rob.
We loved the small scale of the site and it’s back to basics feel.
Our pitch behind the toilet block was much larger than an average pitch and we only shared the site with a handful of others for the entire week. We were so glad we got turned away by the larger sites in the area that we were packed full.
The site has a perfectly adequate shower and toilet block with some of the most powerful and hot free showers we have experienced in many years of camping. They were regularly cleaned every day by the site manager throughout our stay and mops/ disinfectant provided for self clean up after use.
There was also a good indoor pot wash area and a washing machine if required.
We enjoyed a good meal at the New Inn (an easy 5 minute walk away) and made use of the spa shop at the local garage.
There is also a fish and chip shop near the pub that we didn’t use but was doing good custom. Also seemed to be good access to buses nearby.
There is a small playground for younger children in the village and you can walk your dog in the woods and fields behind the playground.
For the price we paid we could not fault this site at all. It isn’t 5 star manicured luxury or the place to come for a party weekend but if like us you just want a bit of peace and quiet, clean basic facilities and some good local amenities within walking distance without breaking the bank you can’t go wrong. It won’t be there much longer so make use of it whilst you still can.

We enjoyed our visit and had our circumstances allowed we would have stayed longer, overall its a pleasant, quiet, adult only site, mainly short grass pitches with a slope, a hardcore road and one hardcore pitch
It is looked after by a warden who tells me the rest of the season will be at £25 a night inc electric.
The toilet block is starting to need a bit of TLC but as its due for demolition if the plans go through its not a priority but its perfectly pleasant & functional.
I and the other 2 people on site were at a loss to understand why it isn't more popular especially as its cash on arrival and given the price of other sites in the area.
We had a lovely reasonably priced meal at The New Inn pub about 300 yds away and there is a fish & chip shop opposite.
It's about 4 miles from Cromer but as its holiday season it was packed after dinner, we also visited Sheringham, Mundesley, Norwich and Felbrigg Hall.
No lights on site so take a torch and enjoy the night sky

A very quiet site, apart from the odd RAF manoeuvrers.
Needs a little bit of tlc on the pitches,
Good value at £25 per night including electric at 16amp

Site was very well situated for easy access to the Norfolk coast, sadly that is really the only positive thing to say?
For £25 a night, (to be fair it included EHU), although should have been £30 per night but we didn't require the wc/showers, we thought it was expensive.
Two main criticisms were, in this order, there was absolutely no lighting around the site, it was pitch black, and secondly, there was no signage anywhere other than 'dogs on lead' sign. (No indication of the Elsan point, or what went in each bin for recycling), plus our 'hardstanding was inadequate for our caravan.
The site appeared lacking in TLC although given the time of year, we accept that it wouldn't look at it's best. We arrived on a Sunday and left the following Saturday, we didn't see the owner until the Friday, and our payment wasn't collected until as we were packing down to come home!
We felt a bit underwhelmed after reading the reviews, would we visit this site again, I doubt it, but for the benefit of others, it was well situated.

Great little find, basic site but location allows for fun and adventure.
Quick stroll to nice pub, awesome chip shop and playing field for the children.
The shower and toilet block were unbelievably well kept, the cleanest we have ever seen, absolutely perfect.
Cromer beach and multiple supermarkets a short drive away.

This is a great site! We have been coming to West Runton/Cromer area for years, but the prices have gone up too high over the last few years so we thought we'd try elsewhere.
We have done a few years without electric on another site, but this year the difference between this site with electric, and the other site without was negligible, so we thought we'd take the risk, and we are so glad we did!
This is a quiet, clean and generous site. The pitches are a generous size, our pitch was flat and out of the way and, in the main, the other guests were like-minded and went to bed when it was dark, so it was great for us with an 8, 9 and 53 year old who need their sleep!
When you get on site, there is a blackboard outside with a welcoming message and note to let you know which pitch to set up on, but there is also an extremely helpful caretaker on site who is on hand as well.
The loos, showers and washing up were scrupulously clean. The showers were also fabulous and not the annoying dribbling button press ones you get at some places. We never waited for a loo, shower or the washing up sink and have had an amazing time.
Thank you so very much xxx

Good site well managed and kept spotless by very friendly site manager Hussein.
Site close to a pub and chippy and near to places such as Cromer and Felbrigg Hall.
Very good value for money and ideal as a base for touring North Norfolk.
