 Not great, especially considering price

So, I'm a singleton camper and am still on my holiday. On arrival the signage was a bit confusing about checking, but that was easily resolved and I was given very good and clear instructions as to where I should pitch. I had a choice of pitches so of course spent 20 mins working out where to go.

So what's good, and not so.

Pitches are a good size, don't feel crowded and nice soft ground to get pegs in. Amenities are a good size as well and reasonable number, but I suspect they can get busy. They are very tired though and in need of a refurb. Cleaned often enough though.

Beach is adjacent to site, and there is a nice car park as close as possible, but it's a steep walk.

Went and had breakfast at the bistro one day, food was average fair for the price, the table had to complain that there's was cold more than once, eventually they got a refund. Mine arrived and was also cold, fortunately I like my food cool. Parking at the bistro is very limited as well.

Logistically they seem a bit broken, enquired about late checkouts and was told they don't do them for camping, emailed to book extra night, no reply. I fact another camper tried to book a few extra nights to be told they are full. Seems a liitle strange considering the field is at most one third full. I think they maybe trying to rundown this part of the business.

Maintenance is also hit and miss, reported faulty shower locks, still waiting.

Gardeners seem to be determined to spoil peace and, quiet, 3 days now, petrol tools run for an hour, stop for an hour, run for an hour. So close to season end just seems to be bad and disrespectful planning. Tents are not insulated static vans and I was often feet away from these workers.

Street lights don't appear to be working, which is imperative as cars drive far too quick.

Good size pitch great views two play areas OK, club seems too be based around bingo everything else seems to come second.

Showers / toilet block 9 tired needs updating, showed heads needed unblocking - asked maintenance said will look into it - but still the same when we left,

Prices in the bar and cafe are high

Well set up here we have been several times before as foster carers and have bought many children to this wonderful place with lovely memories for all of us,

We would personally like to say this is one of the most stunning sites the uk has to offer with all amenities catered for

Well done park dean holidays and many thanks.

I have got to give this site top marks. The staff were lovely and the site and facilities were spotless.

Also a massive bonus was a bus going to St Ives town centre every hour and returning every hour.

We will definitely stay here again.

We didn’t take children but if you do there is a wonderful park for them to play in.

Thanks for a wonderful stay

Great location, good facilities but much more expensive since recent buy out.

Prices have doubled over the last few years for statics and in restaurant.

Great shame as I love the site but it’s out of my budget now.

Great facilities, toilets and showers were extremely clean.

Only criticism is they allow too many in the pool and tourers and campers dint get told about the entertainment guide.

We will be going back:-)

Location is great, park is set amongst the sand dunes. Sunsets are amazing at the beach end of the park. A bar and terrace overlook a children's playground with great views down to the beach and over to st ives bay.

We stayed on a pitch located in the centre of the park. Pitches are large enough and are generally divided by small hedges (this was the sun-sun ehu section)

Toilet and shower facilities were good and were cleaned a couple of times daily by an outside company. The club featuring entertainment is at the entrance end of the park,

Close to reception and a nisa shop (expensive) at the beach end is the sands bar which used to be adult only but is now open to any age.

Also located here is 'bay bistro' don't be fooled by the name, this is over priced cafeteria food at best but it fills a gap if needed.

An indoor pool is also located at this end of the park, as well as a surf school where lessons, boards and wetsuits can be hired. The beach is stunning, miles of golden sand and is also supervised by rnli lifeguards during the summer.

The walk down to the beach is severe to say the least and is completely unsuitable for people with disabilities or that generally have problems walking.

The park is now under the ownership of away resorts and consequently the prices for food and drink reflect this. They will no doubt be flexing their corporate image on the place soon enough.

All in all we had a lovely stay, met some great new friends both campers and tourers and the kids had a wonderful time.

I would recommend the park to young families and older couples alike.

The park is actually located in Hayle and not St ives as the name suggests. A bus departs every 30 mins from outside the park to st ives at a cost of £18 return for a family of 4.

The park is located well for travel to other parts of Cornwall as the A30 is only a 2 min drive. Hayle town is very close and offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants as well as supermarkets etc
