We were booked in for two nights. We chose this site as it was the nearest to Bridlington. We could walk to the beach and down the prom to south and then north Bridlington easily.
When we arrived however, it had rained heavily and the site was more like a football pitch than a campsite. We had a hardstanding pitch with a piece if grass next to it for the awning. This space was a mudbath with the last occupant's cigarette ends, primark clothes tags and remnants of last night's tea floating in it. The pitches are packed together tightly and at one point we had to ask the man next to us to move his car so that we could peg the awning out properly.
The toilets had been cleaned but became muddy quickly and the shower curtains were mouldy and too short so the water went all over everything left outside the shower - dry towel, clothes etc.
There is a children's play area but it consists of two pieces of equipment and a football area. There is also an overpriced on site shop, chipshop, arcade and pub. We decided to give the pub a miss however as it was standing room only by 7.30. It was also very noisy, with other campers around us not seeming to realise that there was a noise curfew until about one o'clock in the morning.
As east coast resorts go Bridlington is a very nice place, however, South Cliff (in our opinion) isn't. We had booked for two nights, we packed up and left after one!

I usually just go to caravan club sites as you can always guarantee excellent facilities, however there is a shortage of caravan club sites in this area and after reading the previous reviews we decided to try this site. We were very impressed with how well the site was looked after, there has recently been a new toilet block installed and this had plenty of showers and was kept very clean apart from some messy people who cant clean up after themselves but no fault to the site owners. The pitches are a bit cramped together although it wasnt too busy when we went, towards the end of the week it did start filling up.Plenty of Water and elec hook ups close to all pitches. It had a very good playgound which my 6 yr old boy wanted to be at all the time. Didnt go to the makis as clubs not really our cup of tea. Good site shop and although it is a large site with loads of statics the touring area was kept quite seperate. You can walk to the beach from the site and walk from the south to the north side of bridlington on the prom or catch one of the land trains(but thats quite expensive). The deep in Hull is about 40mins away and well worth a visit. Lots to do in this area and Bridlington has something for all ages, but prefer the north side to the south.

What can I say, absolutely fantastic. Can't complain about anything from the kids play area, shops, toilet/shower block all A1. In the club you usually pay over the odd's on the beer, not here, very cheap. Me and my wife will definitely be visiting again very soon.
Ps fish & chips yummy.

Stayed at this site 4/5 times over the last few years and haven't had a bad holiday yet.The new shower block is excellent and the site is kept clean and tidy.A 5/10 minute walk off site across cliff tops takes you to seafront where you can take the 'noddy' train to Brid.We do this every time and never use the car when we stay here unless weather is bad.
I have to agree with the comments about Makis bar.It gets very busy and by the look of it half of the people in there are locals or off different sites, leaving you no chance of a seat unless you get in just after teatime.
Ever since we started going here they have been going to build a swimming pool, don't know what the excuse is at the moment for not building it,what with the revenue coming in from the bar but we are no closer to one than we were 5/6 years ago.
This is still a very good site and is no worse for the lack of a pool and we will return here without hesitation.
Staff are friendly and helpful, shop is ok and chippy is good.
Kids enjoyed the play area and can cycle around site in safety.
No dogs on site was a big plus point for us,not having to look out for the nasties and no incessant barking at all hours.
All in all this is a good site, needs updating in some areas but otherwise ok.

Went to this site on 21/04/08 and really enjoyed it, it's quite close to the beach and our 3 year old loved it. It's got a good club on site with good entertainment for the kids and adults , and a decent chippy on site too. We had a good sized hard standing pitch and were close to the water and waste point. The shower block was a bit old but we get showered in the van so it didnt really bother us, however they were building a brand new shower block which looked like it was nearly finished. We had a good holiday and we have booked to go again in august, the pitch prices are very resonable and the staff are very friendly. The site is in a good location quite close to bridlington town centre, and I would recomend it to anyone.

We have been going to south cliff for a few years now in both a tent and in a static caravan. My family all love South Cliff as it is an easy walk into Bridlington in the day time and at night the makis complex is excellent for all the family. I would recommend South Cliff to anyone whether you have small children, teenagers or no children at all. It is a good place to go and the food is brilliant. The showers and toilet block are cleaned regularly. The small shop on the site stocks everything you need and even does telephone top ups.
If you want something different to eat you can have fish and chips on the site, food in makis, or there is an italian restaurant on the next camp site.
The walk into bridlington takes about 45 minutes, but there is a land train you can catch along the front, these trains come every 20 minutes.
The only thing I would add would be an internet point for the teenagers to go. But this is not a problem as there are plenty of internet cafes in bridlington to go to.

We have been using this campsite for over 15 years, but have found little improvements. The toilets need improving and also the showers. ALTHOUGH to be fair they are cleaned on a regular basis. It is very handy for the beach and a nice stroll onto the rock factory. The club on site is good and the fish and chip shop is very tasty. The shop is very well stocked. My only complaint is that my little dog has to stay at home where as the static site on the other side of a gate are allowed as many pets as they want. Most caravan pet owners clean up after their pets so a doggy walk could be a bonus to this site. Who is to say that a static caravan owner loves their pets more than a touring caravan owner. It would be nice that if in 2008 pets were allowed to accompany their owners for a holiday at South cliff caravan park.

Just back from here, perfect site to visit Bridlington. On the whole we liked the site, the tent pitches are close together, with limited parking nearby (If all the pitches were occupied you would have to park elsewhere) They are also next to the children's play area. You could also hear the noise from the club. The shop was reasonably priced, The meals in the Club were OK. The shower and toilet facilities were clean but not pristine, Mouldy shower curtains etc. There was plenty of hot water all day and I never had to queue for any of the facilities. My wife did queue to use the bathroom once when she went to bath the children, but not for long. (This facility is obviously popular for those with little children.) The beach is a short walk away, It is possible to walk into Bridlington, There is also a land train service that can be used to shorten the distance

First stayed here in a static in 2004 loved it so much we came following year. This was the first place we stayed in our tourer for a weekend. It is a nice site, the club is friendly with great entertainment for the kids. Fish and chip shop and site shop both great. Easy walking distance to beach although longer walk if you like a dog free beach like I do. No dogs allowed in tourer section which I like. The showers are basic but fine and clean. The only down side is the tourers are too close together which is why we now only stay for weekends. If the pitches were bigger with more space between we would stay for a week. All in all a great site and we will be back.

We visited this site for the May Day Bank Holiday and we all were really impressed with it. The site is very clean and well looked after. We were on the tent field and this overlooked the park which worked well for us as the children (all 4 of them) could go on their own and we could see them from our pitch. The site shop is well stocked. The club-house was very nice and not smokey, prices were good too. The only thing this site misses is a swimming pool but we went to Bridlington Leisure World and it only costs £10 for a family ticket so what you save in paying for your pitch is worth not having a pool on-site and a little trip into the town.
