We had hoped for a lot more than there actually was at this new site.
On arrival at reception and while we waited for somebody turning up to talk about our pitch choices, I asked the receptionist about the tables and chairs in the area at the window overlooking the loch. Is it going to be a cafe I asked. The lady mumbled something about a coffee machine?
We chose a pitch on the hill overlooking a little section of Loch Ness. We were then told 'that's an extra £3. 20'. This was because it was a super pitch.
The Club advertises a farm shop. Don't know where it was hidden.
The lovely shower cubicles (the ones with w. C. Wash hand basin and shower) had a very small stool and one door hook inside which made it difficult to find anywhere to keep your clothing dry while you showered. The floor was very cold so I don't think the underfloor heating was working. It was quite disappointing compared to other sites we have visited.
The site is recently opened and I realise things can be improved over time. My observation re the footpaths and hard standings is they should be more user friendly. People could easily slide on the steep rough path leading down to the toilet block. My husband had a bit of a fall when stepping out of the caravan as the step tipped to one side due to the rough gravel.
I expected to see more of Loch Ness from the camp site in general.
Be aware that Craigdarroch Hotel described as being 10 minutes walk away is uphill once you've crossed the bridge at the entrance to the site. We gave up when we reached the track leading up to the hotel as we did not know if dogs were allowed.
I hope that as time passes the camp site will steadily improve.
A member of staff was close by as we were leaving. He didn't even bother to ask how we had enjoyed our overnight stay. They need feedback from customers surely?

As others have mentioned, this site is quite new, so has not yet 'grown in' as a result, I agree it is a little lacking in vegetation at the moment, don't let this put you off this little gem of a site !
On arrival, the owners were both very helpful, and chatty, the new reception building is really nice with some great large scale benches and chairs scattered around.
The site is on two levels, the upper level is a few pounds more expensive but has water, power and drainage on each pitch and better views.
The toilet block is exceptional, spacious, spotlessly clean and has hot water in abundance with shower taps that don't turn themselves off ! The whole site is eco friendly with water coming from a bore hole on site and heated by some sort of pixie magic system that is super efficient, with solar power too.
There are wooden bothies on both levels, these and all of the other pitches are well spaced and well plotted. There is a child's play area on the upper level and a covered picnic area on the lower one.
Surprisingly, Loch Ness can only be accessed in very few places and this is one of them. A small pebble beach is found behind the reception block and you can launch boats from here or just sit on the beach in peace and quiet watching the world go by.
Access to the site is via the quiet side of the Loch, as some have mentioned, the road is narrow, but we took a 7 metre motorhome with no problems at all. The hotel on the hillside behind the site is worth a visit, it is a good 15 minute walk and uphill, but worth the effort. At the moment there is no shop on site, so be prepared before you arrive.
The site is new and planting out, the reception, access, etc are all a work in progress but even now this site is superb - when I go back next year I expect it to be even better !

WOW! When this site is truly finished it will be fabulous.
We stayed 6 nights on a fully serviced pitch which is on the higher level with truly stunning views. I don't know if the views would be so good on the lower level.
The owner of this new site is such a great help as are all the staff.
The toilet block being brand new is great with good showers a great family room and some all inclusive wet rooms.
The site when we arrived at the end of July still had to have its landscaping done so the grass in some areas was not great, however in the camping area it was just fine. The drainage on this site is great, we had some heavy rain and both on the hard standings and grass area you would never have known it had rained.
The play area for kids is the best I have seen, away from the caravans with a climbing frame and a great field with removable goal posts.
This is a great area to explore with some great walks and places to explore.
We arrived from the Inverness side which is approx 16 miles from the campsite and the road you drive along is narrow with passing places, however all traffic coming towards us when they saw we had a caravan they moved into the passing places, it is the same coming from the Fort Augusta's side.
We are looking forward to returning to this site and seeing the landscaping finished.
There are lots of things that make a good site and on this site it has got to be the owner who is there from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, his wonderful staff and the location with spectacular views and sunsets.

Excellent new camp site. Facilities very good. Two levels with play area for children on top level. Right on the loch so views superb. Pods available and plenty space between pitches. Site shop due to open shortly and hotels nearby for meals. The staff and owners were friendly and helpful and ready to give help if required. Dog walk very nice and by the shore. Many walks for different levels.
We will certainly go back.

Very nice site that's in a fantastic location right on the loch shore (hence the name!) The site is not yet totally finished due to a problem with the builders but all the important things are complete. The site is split into two main areas; a lower field with hard-standings for caravans and motor homes and grass pitches for tents. Most if not all have EHU. This area also has the amenities block, CDP and Reception. There is also an upper field with more pitches and the play area. I was told that this will probably be where most families are sited leaving the lower area for couples. The ground is very hard and rock pegs are essential. It was hot and dry but I don't think that made the ground so hard.
The amenities block is new and as well as the usual washbasins, toilets and showers there are also two wet-rooms that comprise of a shower, toilet and basin in a single private room, nice touch. There are separate sinks for both dish-washing and for clothes washing and there is also a separate laundry. All the facilities are kept up to the usual high standard of cleanliness.
Reception was not yet finished but there should be a shop shortly. The children's play area was also not yet complete but it looks to be of a high standard.
One thing I should mention are the staff who were first-class and were polite and extremely helpful. An example of this was when the upper field was unexpectedly ready just after we had pitched. One of the staff said we could move if we wished and he gave us a hand to move the tent. He lent me a hammer as I'd managed to break my mallet! 3 days later when we were taking the tent down they offered to lend me a claw hammer to remove my rock pegs as I'd left mine at home.
Finally, there is a hotel situated halfway up a hill over-looking the site that serves excellent food. It only takes 15-20 minutes to walk but the path is overgrown (I suspect it will become less so after a while!) The effort is definitely worth it if the weather is nice (as it was when we visited) as it has a nice beer garden.
Excellent site that is recommended and we shall be visiting again.

This new campsite is ideally located on the South shore of Loch Ness, with direct launching access from the site. There will be 99 pitches, many of which are serviced, when it is fully opened which should be in the next week. The facilities are excellent. We enjoyed a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
There is some work still required around the site but that does not detract from the location. The owners have great plans to provide a small shop, cafe and other services in the near future. The area is quiet with much wildlife including Red Squirrels. The best access is from the Inverness direction, though both ways are ok with the right vehicle. If approaching from Fort Augustus, there are some 1 in 7 hills and narrow roads with passing places. There are a playground and football pitch which will be open next week.

With this being a new site we were not sure what it would be like, as we have visited a lot of sites where there is wigwams. However the staff were very friendly & helpful, they were also keen to know what we thought about the wigwams & if there was anything different from other sites. Toilet & shower blocks was kept clean also they have a laundry on the site at the other end of the shower block.
Once everything has settled down I think this good be a very good site as it will have a shop etc. On site which will be be good.
I would highly recommend this site & we will will definitely be going back there.

Sorry if a site is open, it is open not a building site. The dust and noise from the ongoing building work, and the overcrowding, I assume due to the site not fully open, made this not a pleasant visit.
We had a tent pitched right behind us far to close to be safe and certainly not comfortable.
I discussed this with the owner who shrugged his shoulders and walked off.
The facilities are good the location is good too, except you need to be a mountain goat to get to the only shop in village. Lovely walk up for the fit and able.
We left early having paid for longer could not stand the dust and claustrophobic feel.
