Just returned from here and what a great campsite this is, the pool was lovely and warm and very clean as was the whole site. The showers were always warm and toilet area clean. The playarea was enjoyed by our 2 year old who loved walking around the site seeing what was going on!
It's a shame you need to drive to get to most places it would have been nice to leave the car behind.
We liked the site so much we've booked for next year before we left. Would recommend this site to all.
A visit to Gorren Haven is a must lovely beach, but go about 12 o'clock so tide will be out, and a lovely fish and chip shop that cooks to order we spent our last day there and enjoyed relaxing before going home.
Dairyland is a place worth visiting if you've small children pay once and you can return for free over the next seven days, lots to do there as well pony rides, bottle feeding animals etc and a great indoor playarea.

First visit to this campsite. Pre-booked 6 weeks before holiday, and was able to pick the pitch from a map on web site, as it happens pitch 108 was very close to toilet, showers and washing-up facilities, and was a good size, separated by bushes and hedges from neighbours.
Facilities were good, I think there were 4 washing up sinks and 2 washing m/c & dryers. Staff were very friendly, and there were a few 'long-termers' who stay for a number of weeks at a time - a good sign? Location was somewhat in the sticks, with a drive to St Austell about 20 mins for major shop.
Nowhere to really walk to, but we did drive out to various villages and beaches. Site was reasonably quiet, despite a number of children around (we were just about furthest away from playground), it did go quiet around 10. 30pm
Site shop was OK, closing time could do with being later say 8pm. We tried the takeaway curries and were very impressed, and had them again (2 days later, they had a good heat to them).
Swimming pool did shut at 6pm, I think staff should extend this again until 8pm, it is not supervised, but does need covering at night, also an earlier opening (10am) would be better, but as it is outdoor, perhaps it would be too cold
Playground looked good, my 3 year old loved it. Didn't try the tennis.
Would visit again, like the food, our visit had poor weather, so we were really banking on a break in the weather to plan our trips to beaches, etc.
Eden project great, used the annual pass (comes with single purchase) to go for breakfast on following day, and lunch on another, great concept for serving food in the Eden bakery.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Tregarton, the site was a lovely and relaxing place to spend a holiday.
The facilities were very good, plenty of fresh water points etc so not too far to pull water or waste. Showers and toilets are clean and well kept; my only complaint in this area is about other campers who fall to clean shower floors after use.
The pitches are spacious, however they are not all very level, a fact you can't see from the map when booking but it didn't spoil our stay. The pool was exceptional, clean, warm and plenty of seating, in all the best I've seen even abroad.
The area around Tregarton is lovely, great beaches and charming small fishing villages. St. Austall and Truro are close by for shopping as well as plenty of other places to visit.
The site is good value for money and a site we would definitely return to.

Fabulous place. Very clean and friendly. Shop well stocked. Pool lovely and warm. Facilities clean, free and plentiful. Beautiful pitch not on each other's toes. Lots of caravans, tents and motorhomes. Massive dog walking area. Tennis courts and field areas.
My only grumble is we were very reliant on the bus's which in fairness stopped right outside the camp you just stuck your arm out! But! the last one back daily was around 4pm which spoilt your day out if you were having fun!
Mevegissey and Heligans Gardens lovely places both £6 return on the bus but missed lasted one back from Mevegissey so £12 taxi. St Austell £10 return we walked the 2 miles from there to Charlestown beautiful place.
Eden Project £20 adult but well worth it, take a picnic though the food is not for everyone! all in all really loved it. The beach is a good 2-3 mile all down hill and twisting roads it was hard work coming back up!
no TV reception, no Mobile phone reception I was orange, hubby on Vodaphone and my 3 dongle did not work on the netbook, However for £12 we got wireless from the site. I jokingly asked if he was blocking the waves! he laughed and said no. Some people did have TV on so maybe it was our aerial?

Well what can I say, booked again for next year. Well worth the 12 hour drive. Site is immaculate toilets clean at all times of the day and night. And they have space not tiny cubicles.
Showers hot, this can be a problem with young children as they are a fixed temperature. As a woman its nice to have a moveable head for nooks and crannies but its a small gripe. Playground tennis courts and pool very clean well maintained.
Guys working all the time cutting, cleaning and putting right. No lifeguard at the pool but its very shallow and cctv watching all the time. Lots of signage around sight to dirct you. Shop very well stocked and may items cheaper than local tesco/asda. Our pitch was on a slope, but most are levellish.
We have a large tent and its awkward to pitch fully level. Staff friendly my girls made friends with Bob in the shop. With so much to still see and do we have booked again.
Mevagissey an artists paradise, polgooth inn do good meals and the watermargin chinese St Austell best we have had in years. Cream teas at trevar house hotel to die for. If your not too precious about your car hemmick bay for a bbq. The hedges get very close.

Excellent a nice clean friendly site. Sloping pitches not a problem as a caravan was sited and levelled for us when we arrived, wicked pitches were large enough for two cars a caravan and an awning.
Some bushes or small hedging separates each pitch giving a little privacy. Clean well maintained toilets and showers.
Shop could do with opening more hours but that's our only criticism. And cheep at 99. 50 for a week. I would recommend this site to anyone, well done tregarton keep it up.
The only thing missing was a sea view.

We stayed at Tregarton for a week in June and were extremley happy with the site.
The shower facilities are the best we've ever seen on a site. Each shower cubicle has a shower cubicle within it, making keeping your dry area dry a breeze. My sole gripe (minor at that) is that there are no sockets to plug in your own hair dryer/straighteners. There is a dryer in the shower block which is 20 pence BUT it's not very good.
The on-site shop is very well stocked and we found the pricing very reasonable. They run a takeaway service which we used once and were very impressed with the quality. They also hire out ice blocks.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and made recommendations for places for us to visit.
The pool and tennis courts were very well kept although we didn't take advantage of either. The washing and laundry facilities were great and always clean.
I believe there is free EHU although we don't use it. There are regular water and rubbish spots and recycling facilities by the shower block.
If you stay at this site, the local Indian in Mevegissey is a must. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely.
I'd also recommend Lobbs Farmshop as the meat we got from there was very very tasty.
Lovely site which we will definitely visit again.

On arrival we were taken to our pitch and the caravan was expertly put on for us, which after a 5 hr drive was great.
The facilities were very clean and tidy but would of liked another hand dryer in the ladies as there was only one. The swimming pool was lovely and warm but only got to use it once as it closed at 6pm and we were never back in time, it was not too great for swimming in as it was not very deep and only 3' at the shallow end. The shop was well stocked and not too expensive.
We took our dog and yes they allowed them on the site but it was not too dog friendly. He was unable to go anywhere near the shop, toilets, or even in the tourist information room. Having a dog who is nervous of other dogs we were unable to leave him at the dog rings as he was to far out of site.
As others have said it was well away from most places and having no footpaths we had to drive everywhere but Cornwall is very spread out.
If we went to Cornwall again we would stay more Newquay side as there is more to do.

Just spent 2 weeks at Tregarton. We arrived and was checked in by the hicks family who then took our caravan and pitched for us within minutes. The site is very well kept and very well organised. The swimming pool is fantastic and is very warm no matter how cold the air temp is the pool is still 28c. The shop on site is very well stocked and has everything you need. The children's play area is fantastic and our children loved it, this is closed at 9pm.There are plenty of places to visit within a few miles. We liked gorran haven harbour and beach the best.
A few grumbling points.
There is nothing within walking distance and roads have no pavements. After viewing video we thought the beaches were within walking distance, but you need to go in a car.
We went to this site outside school hols as its cheaper. We felt most of the other caravanners didn't want children around (out of site out of mind comes into mind) even felt this from the site wardens.
Saying that its a lovely site and I do recommend it to all.

We went to the camp in June on arrival we were greeted by the owner (well at least I think it was) he booked us in and told us which way to our pitch which by the way was very close to all the amenities. It was a very large pitch surrounded by hedges and trees which was great for protection from the elements, there was fresh drinking and waste water just meters from the tent, plus refuse bins so we didn,t have to go far to get rid of our rubbish. The toilet and shower facilities were very good, clean and well kept.
There were some lovely places to see in the area, Mevagissy was a very nice place to visit their fish and chips were exceptional fresh from the sea (wicked).
The one thing we would have liked was a tv area where we could go somewhere warm in the evening to just sit and chat with other campers and exchange places to go and see. They had a good tourist information centre, a room with an enormous amount of brochures of all surrounding areas. On the whole it was quite but very enjoyable I would definitely return
