July 2005 Agree with everything Raddy59 has said - think we must have been there the same week as we had some lousy weather too! Campsite was great, when booking, with the aid of the site map on the website, we were able to choose a pitch away from the play area but quite close to all the facilities so our two children (aged 4 and a half and 7) were able to go to the toilet etc on their own (although there was a notice saying that children under 7 should be accompanied in the washroom, sorry but our 4 and a half year old is very independent!)
Can't really add to the review of the site so will recommend The Crown pub at St Ewe for a very nice meal. It's signposted off the road that the campsite is on. Not cheap but worth it for a treat. Best fish and chips in Mevagissey were found at The Central fish bar, just set back from the harbour. The Barleysheaf in Gorran was also recommended but was full when we got there at about 7 on a Thursday evening.
Good rockpooling at Porthpean and Pendower beaches. Portholland is exciting when it's a bit rough and the tide is in. It's also lovely when the tide is out and it's worth following the sea wall round to West Portholland.
All in all, a great holiday, if a little damp at times!!

July 2005 This is a lovely site with large pitches, a great pool and a great childrens play area - our little boy loved it. Nice and quiet - except when the kids are playing but that's a price worth paying when they are having so much fun. There are quieter pitches lower down the site.
The shop is well stocked, and not out to rip you off. Ice packs - their own - are £1 deposit each and 20p per re-freeze which is v.reasonable.
Staff are excellent; very friendly and very helpful.
Toilets clean. Washing up sinks clean. Dryers and washing machines available (£4 per wash, but dispenses washing powder for you - so leave yours at home and save some space).
Would we go back - yes, but with a 10+ hour drive from Liverpool due to traffic maybe we would choose a quieter time on the roads. Oh, yes, and the weather - wet and windy - we were wondering if Tregarton was Cornish for 'stormy'? :-)

May 2004 We visited in May 2004 & 2003 - our views & comments are exactly the same:
Friendly welcome from owners, clearly defined & good sized pitches, very clean facilities/grounds (caretakers are on the go all day long) & huge play area for children (& adults). Also a decent sized & warm swimming pool. My family (2+2) had a great time.
Highly recommended.

August 2004 Dear "Ricky1989",
Thank you very much for a positive review you gave of my park. I'm pleased you would return and that you enjoyed the facilities we offer.
I would like to take this opportunity to answer some of your comments. Our toilet block has 10 showers - 5 for the men and 5 for the ladies. The reason the Tennis Court closes at 6pm is because the planning permission has a "time" clause attached to it. The Swimming Pool closes at 6pm because of a recommendation by our local Health & Safety officer.
I hope I've answered your questions and that you can understand some of the "red tape" I face!!
Looking forward to meeting you again, Robert Hicks Proprietor

August 2004 I have recently visted Tregarton park for 11 nights. I enjoyed my stay there and would return again.
good points:
swimming pool, tennis courts, shop, friendly staff, clearly marked pitches, dog walking area, adventure play park, take away, good laundry facilitys, not far from asda and tesco, about ten minute to a small beach, sea view, hot showers, ice pack freezing, well layed out roads.
things that could be improved:
more showers (there is currently 3, some sort of pub or club, takeaway servive and shop opening later (currently shuts at 7pm), during peak season kepp pool and tennis courts open later (currently shuts at 6pm),
I liked the site but if you could move it over the other side of the countrie it would be perfect.

April 2004 What a fantastically friendly place. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and full of concern when our awning blew down (for the third time). The majority of people who were there return year after year and it was easy to see why. The toilets were immaculate and close no matter where you were camped. The new playpark was a huge hit with the kids. Even after having to drive 10 hours to get there, I know we shall be returning...... and very soon. Thank you to all the staff for really making our holiday.

About four times so far This is a great friendly site, we go at the beginning and end of the season when there is a special cheap rate, currently £6 inc. electric and awning which cannot be bad. The clientele then is almost entirely retired couples. There is a shop which does newspapers and a simple evening takeaway service, in polyboxes so no washing up. It is handy for beach about ten minutes away, and ideal for Heligan and Eden Project.
