We picked two of the best weeks of weather of the whole summer. That was pure luck. Picking this campsite had nothing to do with luck. After a lot of research and reading these reviews we booked for the last week of July / first week in August. Let's not mess about here, this site is phenomenal. Large pitches, quiet and relaxed atmosphere (even when the site was full), a magnificently warm pool, friendly and helpful owners and a well stocked shop. The tennis court has obviously been a rather expensive investment, as it is quite superb. Book early for the court to avoid disappointment! A big plus for us was that there was no "bar" or "club" and no "games room" either. This ensured really quiet evenings. Lovely! The children all congregated at the well equipped play area or rode their bikes/scooters round in the evening after a day round the previously mentioned splendid pool. All other facilities were to a high standard, being both clean and highly functional. We loved the fact that either Barry or Rob (the owner and his son) did a quick check round the site EVERY night just to see everything was OK. They would stop and chat to some and it just felt like they actually cared that everyone was having a good time. I cannot imagine this happening at Pentewan Sands holiday park (down the road) as it is completely packed and impersonal and looks like Hell on earth as you drive past it on the way to St Austell. The electric hook up was great (one for each of the pitches) and the supply never faltered once. There are extension leads available from the shop if you pitch your tent further away from the electric point than your lead will stretch (as stupid boy here did!). I do believe they have thought of everything! The food on site is all freshly cooked to order, tasty and well presented. It is not too expensive either and well worth a try on those nights when you really can't be bothered to cook. While we were there, we went to the Lost Gardens of Heligan- 3 miles ish- and were really impressed. Take sturdy shoes as there are some taxing hills. Attached to the gardens is Lobbs farm shop. Great meat, excellent veg, a small fish stall and bread, buns and cakes. Well worth a visit. We also went to the Eden project. As a technical achievement, it is stunning. As a way of relieving you of your "hard earned", it is unrivalled. As a day out, it is mediocre. No doubt there will be people who disagree with this, but hey, that's what we thought of it. (see if you can spot the 11,000 volt electric substation as you walk round this "environmentally sound" site!) Mevagissey is pretty, Caerhays beach is great but crowded and St Austell is a nightmare to get into at any time of the day. The shipwreck and maritime museum in Charlestown is well worth a visit, as is Caerhays castle. If you want a family holiday (we were 2 adults and a very active six year old little boy), you should read no further and just book this site. It is no wonder that it gets booked up early! I cannot stress enough how good this site is. While we were there, we booked for next year! It's THAT good. Don't think about it, don't hesitate, BOOK IT NOW!

We spent 2 weeks at this fabulous site. As one of the previous reviews we had a fantastic welcome with our tourer being pitched & leveled on our arrival by the guy in the 4WD, what more could you ask for. Everyone who worked on & around the site was very friendly. Again the showers were slightly cramped especially if you were showering one of your children, (I had to take my 4 year old out of the cubicle to dress her!) although extremely clean. The shop was stocked with the basics but the essentials like bread, milk, bacon etc. although the takeaway was great value for money & I even saw one of our neighbours having theirs delivered to their pitch! The site was very well kept/spacious but were a few problems with some nettles around our pitch & with a toddler was difficult at times. The childrens play area was fantastic & my eldest enjoyed herself no end as she did in the pool which was very adequate in size. The surrounding area is so beautiful especially mevagissey with its lovely little narrow streets & shops. We didn't think much of St. Austell town as there didn't seem to be an awful lot there infact just Woolworths, Argos & Boots but no little touristy shops that sell the normal little seaside town souveniers & trinkets. Newquay was around an hours drive as was Looe but within easy access of alot of the Cornish tourist places. All in all this site was just what we wanted & in a great position. Be warned though watch for some of the narrower roads in the surrounding area (although are traits of Devon/Cornwall) as if you drive a 4WD they DO scratch your car!)

Just came back from our first camping holiday, what can I say about this site except brilliant. The pitch sizes are lovely and big, we had a big tent and a cooking tent and still plenty of room all round for kids to play. I like the way that you can choose your pitch as you book. The site is very clean and well looked after, the owners and staff are very, very friendly and they took the time to speak each time they saw you. The toilets and showers were immaculate at anytime of the day or night. The site is well lit at night. There is a kids playground that is shut at 9pm on the dot. On a side note Flambards is well worth a visit we were pleasantly surprised. If you can get there for the air day (this year was the beginning of August) at RNAS Culdrose is well worth going to. I would give this site 10 out of 10 and have just booked to return next year.

I have been taking my grandchildren camping for five years now, always at different sites and Tregarton is the best we have stayed at. This year there were four children under twelve and me, and despite the most dreadful weather we all enjoyed ourselves, the pool was a godsend and very warm, the play area kept them amused with football and cricket, showers and toilets spotless, and as you get EHU no problem with the girls drying their hair. A well stocked shop and very good takeaway with no ripoff prices. There are some fab beaches close to the site and it seems very central to lots of places of interest. The pitch sizes are big and all well tended by the chap on the mower who never growled at us once ! All in all a very good site and we will certainly be going back.

We have just returned home after a great stay in Cornwall. The campsite is well positioned for local areas to visit and is very well run. I would agree with other comments about the strictness - the gentleman who mows the lawns could possibly do with a little advice.we arrived and he had a few comments to make about us being early even though we had pre-arranged this with the owners. On our departure day he arrived at our pitch before the 11am kick off time and sat with his mower breathing down our collar, it did leave a little sour taste with us and we felt it was totally unnecessary. Overall we had a good time, the site is clean, the play area is safe and our children didn't want to go home which is always a good sign. The food in the takeaway is good value, the toilet/showers are clean if a little cramped bit it would have been nice to have hadt he facility to dry your hair in the laidies with a power point as the one hair dryer is very low powered. There is an on site laundrette which was very useful but at a price, £4 per wash, even though this included the powder we felt it was very overpriced. The owner and his son are friendly, the son being particularly helpful and polite at all times. All in all we would recommend this site without hesitation especially if the green keeper could relax a little!

Tregarton Park is an exceptionally well run site. The pitches are all very spacious. Despite the poor weather, most pitches were usable, just a few were apparently not being used as they were water logged. When we arrived we were shown to our pitch and the man offered to pitch our van - it was done in no time, unhitched off our car, hitched to the front of his 4WD and pushed into place, levelled and off he went. Same when we left, he pulled the caravan off the pitch.
The toilet block was clean and I didn't see a time when people were queuing for showers.
The pool was warm and clean.
There is a children's playground, which is shut on the dot at 9:00pm. There is also a dog exercise field. There are plenty of points for water, waste and chemical waste disposal and recycling facilities. There is also a shop on site.
The site is always busy with staff doing jobs: mowing pitches, strimming hedges, emptying bins.
They have rules which they strictly adhere to and if you stretch the rules they will pick you up on it. This is very good, although no-one likes being told off! We were told off twice, once for carrying a scooter where you're not allowed scooters (my son needed the toilet and I had gone with him not realising scooters weren't allowed, so rather than walk back to the caravan as he is young and was desparate for the loo, I carried the scooter, but they spotted me and told me off) and another time our dog escaped under the awning and chased my OH and son to the toilets. OH picked the dog up and carried it back, but not before they told him off for having the dog off the lead. We're not complaining as it is good that they enforce the rules, but make sure you stick to them!
One final word - the only reason we booked this site was firstly the good reviews on this website, but also the ease of booking. Their website allows you to pick your particular pitch and book online. It was so easy. We sent an email first with a query and it was responded to straight away (evening time) and in a friendly manner.
Without doubt I would recommend this site and would definitely return.

We stayed for 5 days for the 2nd week in June, overall an excellent site and would strongly recommend it! Good size plots, nicely divided with hedges etc and the whole site, including loos and showers spotless. The pool was a good bonus, may not have been the biggest I've ever seen, but still very nice. We were child free this time round, and fitted in fine, but there were plenty of kids around and wouldn't hesitate returning with our 11 year old. The only slight down point were the size of some of the shower cubicles, but as it was never busy enough to cause a problem. Mevagissy is a lovely harbour town, with some cracking places to eat/drink with views across the harbour and sea. An ideal place if like us, you want a bit of tranquillity, but still want some comforts and perfect fir sightseeing, Helligan and Eden in particular.

My husband and I, 2 children and 1 dog went here the 1st bank holiday in May 2007. Well what can I say, what a beautiful clean site one of the best I have been to to date. The toilets and free showers were outstandingly clean with plenty of room in the shower that also had hooks and a ledge for sitting on, plenty of toilets and wash basins for all. We were situated near the park which was perfect for the kids. There was a large field to exercise the dog in. Well kept pitches which all had a hedge to separate you off from each other, there was also hard standings for caravans if required. Unfortunately the shop and pool were not open but it does state this in the brochure anyway. It didn't matter as there was a well stocked shop and pub about 5 Min's drive away. Very central to lots of attractions, walks etc. All in all I could not fault it one bit, a very friendly superb family run park that we would definitely go to again without a shadow of a doubt!

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Tregarton Park. The site is beautiful, peaceful and had everything we required. The on site shop sells just about anything you may need and they also serve breakfast and food in the evenings if you want a rest from the cooking. The pasties are wonderful too!
The toilet blocks and showers were kept immaculate and though the site was full we never had to wait for a shower, and the water was always warm. There is a tennis court that can be booked and racquets/balls can be hired. The children's playground is a lovely area where children of all ages can play in safe surroundings. The outdoor heated pool is wonderful, even on chilly days, Lot's of seating and picnic areas by the pool.
The pitches are large ,and well spaced out. There is a dog excersise meadow with a lovely wooden swing seat where you can chat whilst keeping an eye on your dog.
The closest beach is Caerhays (I think!), we walked it, about 2 miles I think, but you can park the car right by the beach.
We will definetely return.

Unusually private for such a large campsite with so many facilities - the hedges around and between pitches make it feel much more tranquil and secluded than you'd expect. It's a great site - clean, quiet, brilliant location for lots of fab things to do, places to visit etc. Would definitely go back.
