Nice views, spoiled by the unfriendly, morose owners and staff. The showers could have been cleaner and so could some of the grass areas. It is a pity when the shower block is obviously quite new, that more care isn't taken to keep them clean. There are also quite a few rats around the place: probably attracted by the owners horses: turn on your headlights late at night and they scatter! there are a lot of foreign student/teenage group staying in the static units who can be quite noisy until midnight
St. Ives is nice, but very quiet at nights as most of the houses are holiday homes. Some of the restaurants are a little pricey considering the standard of food served.
Overall, because of the cold attitude of the staff and state of the showers, we would not go back.

This was our first stay at Ayr and it wont be our last. The site was just perfect and gave us everything we required. The view from our unit over the bay was exceptional, the pitches are of good size, with a sand type hardstanding. We did go out of season and they had been quite a bit of rain so actually getting onto the pitch was quite entertaining with lots of wheel spinning! The toilet block was outstanding, the best I have ever seen and experienced. St Ives is just a stroll away, there are some great restaurants and pubs here and plenty of pasty shops. Well worth a visit....

Absolutely fantastic "all year round" campsite with the breathtaking views of St. Ives bay and town. Unfortunately this does mean that the campsite is a little exposed, which can batter the tent with high winds.
The toilet/shower facilities are the best we've seen - complete with radio! Not only are there the usual "comunal" toilet/shower block which are of the highest standard, but there are also combindation rooms which are equipped with toilet, shower and sink - excellent for families having to try and juggle kids in a potentially busy toilet block.
We will be using them again. Excellent.

Superb Site. Excellent on site facilities (ie water and electric points for each individual 'hook-up.') 'State of the arts' toilet block. Central position for easy walking to the beautiful Harbour Town, coastal path and beach. Fabulous views over the ocean and nearest beach. However, don't expect a warm welcome from the owners/staff - they are down right miserable - hardly any acknowledgement when you sign in, or indeed a cheery greeting. They need a course in 'people skills.' PLEASE SMILE AT YOUR CUSTOMERS AND MAKE THEM FEEL WELCOME! That said we enjoyed our stay and will be back - hopefully when the owners and staff are in better moods!

We stayed at this campsite for one night as we traveled around Cornwall. I thought it was very expensive at £19.50 for 2 people and a tent for one night. The tent pitches are very cramped and worn, ours was on the main road throught the site so we had people walking and driving right past the tent the whole time.
There are very modern showers and toilets but the showers are cramped and badly drained so you get the water from the showers either side of you coming into yours on the floor. Also they were very busy when we were there and people were having to queue.
The good things about this site though are that its only 10 mins walk into St Ives, which is probably why its so expensive, and the sea views are lovely.

Just returned from visiting this site in our campervan and had a brilliant time. New shower block is fantastic, with the best showers I have even come across in a campsite and the views are excellent. There is no entertainment on site apart from a games room for kids but a short(and steep) walk will take you into town for good food and drink! The only problem we had was with our pitch being turf laid on a concrete slab, so it was tricky getting the awning pegged in.

Really nice site. Fairly expensive but worth it to be able to walk into St Ives. Most pitches on a slope but with fantastic views over the bay, hook ups available. Toilet block ultra modern and very clean with great family shower rooms and even a bathroom - definitely a winner for me!

Great location and views overlooking Porthmeor Beach and only 10 minutes walk from town centre. We love this site. Nice enough facilities but these may have been upgraded since our visit. Nice play area for children. There are better facilities on other sites but for location, it can't be beaten.

Just returned from here, its a excellent site, with superb toilets/washrooms. The campsite can be v.busy and you are crammed in a bit, but its fine. Cracking views of the St Ives and the coastline, but can get a bit breezy. Overall would recommend it.

April 2005 We really liked this site. The location is great, 5 - 10 min walk to St Ives town and has amazing views.
The (new) toilet block was really excellent. Clean, modern.. music comes on when you walk in, lights fade on, it was warm.. brilliant. Showers were powerful and roomy. Even had an outside shower for wet suits.
Downside is - expensive. Also, the pitch we had was grass ( not good in camper van) and also was on a slope so not so comfortable.
But all in all a good site..
