We spent a few nights here in 2009, and then again in 2010. We love the location of the site, it's an easy 10 minute walk down to the beach from here (if you're willing to climb down the rocks) and we have spent many relaxing evenings staring out at the harbour with a glass of wine.
The toilet blocks are excellent (even with the piped music) and the van that comes around first thing is very convenient, though there's a small shop just up the road from the campsite that stocks the basics anyway. There's also a Spar and a Co-op a bit further away.
The first time we stayed here we were away from the path so we slept well the whole time.
The second time we stayed here we had a lot of trouble with noise - we were right on the path opposite the playground and it seemed that there was always car and foot traffic keeping us awake at night. We also had a few noisy neighbours and only then realised that there is no 'quiet time' at this site.
Also, this is a very commercial site, not the kind of place where you are welcomed by the owners, but it's not like any of the major 'holiday clubs' with activities and performances -- this is about the most commercial site we can tolerate, as we usually camp at smaller, more intimate sites.
All in all, we enjoy staying here, simply for the beautiful views and the proximity to St Ives. In high season, this site is crowded and quite expensive, but in the shoulder season, it is quite good value, certainly not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive site we've stayed at.

We turned up at the site and found our pitch, and just thought 'Wow'. The view was fantastic over Porthmeor Beach and The Island.
The slope on the pitch was a challenge, but there were plenty of levelling blocks provided by the site so managed to pitch up without much difficulty. Then we walked into the shower block - more like 5 star health club changing rooms than anything I've ever seen on a campsite before.
Overall the site is beautifully kept and within easy reach of the South West Coast Path. I read a previous review saying they had difficulty in finding the Coast Path, but we didn't have any problems as it was clearly signposted and there was a well worn trail, even if the path down was a bit overgrown.
By road the walk into St Ives only took us about 10 minutes to get to the Harbour, although down quite a steep hill. Excellent location for visiting St Ives and you can always get the bus (95p) or a taxi if needed.
Obviously there are plenty of places to eat and drink in St Ives and we had a wonderful stay. We were even lucky enough to see from our caravan a pod of dolphins playing in the sea, and also a seal from the nearby Coast Path.

We were lucky to turn up at this site and they had one pitch left for us. Fantastic views.
As someone else has said the tents should be nearer the toilets, quite a trek up there.
This was the most expensive camp site we stayed at and wasn't worth it really. Yes the facilities were nice and clean but so were the facilities at other sites we stayed at for less than £10 per night.
We got very lost on the coastal path trying to walk from the camp site down to St Ives. Be careful if you attempt it! We had even more problems coming back!

I have mixed thoughts on this campsite. I chose this site because it was in the cool camping book recommended for it's views and loos and also because it was very close to where we needed to be.
The relative high cost (£49 for 2 nights in a tent) did make us think but decided to give it a go. We used our bell tent this trip but when we reached our allotted site there was no way we could fit it into the site let alone our car too. Luckily it was fairly empty and we were able to move to one of the few larger pitches. Most of the tent pitches are designed for smaller tents and are rather crammed together for a campsite.
Certainly the loos are immaculate and warm but to have radio blaring out in them day and night was very off putting when you wanted a peaceful holiday without hearing the news every time you needed to go. Also to get to them from the tenting field we had to walk across 2 fields and up hill through a caravan park. Surely those with a caravan have a loo and don't need to be near the loos?
Another thing to consider is that it is a very exposed site and a wind break is essential. Some people were constantly rearranging theirs to try to reduce the constant wind.
Overall the site wasn't bad but I'm certain it wasn't worth the money paid compared to the wonderful fiver a night site I was on last month

Don't hesitate with this one, you will not find better. You want views over St Ives Bay as you open your curtains or tent - they're here. You want 5 star bathroom facilities, and we mean 5 star - they are here.We have travelled the UK this week and these are undoubtedly the best - a woman needs to use her own hairdryer doesn't she - I'm allowed here!
A taxi to St Ives if you need it is less than £3. The whole site is first class, and so so near St Ives, a precious find.

The site is nothing short of fabulous. As previously mentioned the shower block puts a lot of hotels to shame (11 out of 10!) The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The views superb. Definite recommendation for this site.

Visited this site late January, early February.
This site offers fantastic views of St Ives Bay, although the site is on quite a slope, the owners do have extra levelling blocks on each pitch, which is helpful.
The Toilet/shower block can only be described as amazing, many good quality hotels would do well to match these facilities, always spotless, under floor heating so always warm, even in Feb.
It is only 10-15 mins walk into St Ives, which was busy for the time of year, loads of places to eat or have a drink or two, would recommend the Sloop, Which is opposite the Harbour.
The South West Coastal path passes very close to the site, access through a gate at the bottom of the site.
All in all this is a great site, the only down side is the price. £19.25 per night, saying this we booked for an extra 2 nights, so that must say something.
Would stay here again in a heart beat.

The campsite has great views of St Ives, we put our wind break up but took it back down soon after as it blocked our lovely view! The campsite is great. There's a local van that comes round the campsite selling groceries, newspapers etc. The bus back from St Ives is also handy as it is steep on the way back.
The shower blocks and toilets are great. Piped music! They are clean and spacious and plenty of cubicles etc.
The only down side is they don't allow disposable BBQs. It is busy so you'll need to book in advance and expensive by campsite standards (£27 per night), but well worth visiting. A great place to explore St Ives from.

Spent 2 nights here whilst walking the coast path.
I turned up and the site was full - this was on a Sunday and Monday and out of the high season. Luckily, as I was backpacking, there was space for me but I would book a place before turning up.
The site is fantastic. Very peaceful and a great location overlooking St. Ives. The new shower block is nothing short of amazing! I kids you not when I say that the individual shower rooms (I think there are 3 per sex) are superior to most showers in hotel rooms.
Both nights I was there, there was complete quiet after 10.00pm. The receptionist were very friendly and helpful and there is even a bus (@ 50p each way) that takes you into St. Ives town centre . It's only an 8 minute walk, but it's steep coming back!
Brilliant site and highly recommended.

We booked this site on the recommendation of friends and could not believe our luck when our allocated hardstanding pitch had superb uninterrupted views of St Ives. There is direct access to the coast path (although the section to Zennor was closed due to flooding) and it is a short downhill walk to the town. St Ives is a lovely holiday destination with wonderful beaches, galleries and pubs / restaurants. The camp site facilities were immaculate but the shower cubicles are quite small. There are many static caravans on the site which were unoccupied and I imagine the site could be very busy in school holidays. There are a couple of spacious fields for tents and backpackers are welcome. We paid £20 a night for our pitch which was well worth it for the location and we would definitely return.
