November 2004 Quite expensive at £26 for 2 nights for a camper and two people. Lots of noise from a group of students in the mobile homes. We didn't use showers as they were dirty. The owners were unhelpful when we pointed out that the electric hook up next to our pitch was faulty and our lead wouldn't stretch. Also we got stuck in the mud trying to get out.

November 2004 The site has lovely views, but we spent most of our time looking at the grass trying to avoid the dog and horse excrement! Showers were grubby and not attended to very often. There was a party of teenagers who partied all night and fired a rocket at my motorhome. When I complained to the owner he told me to get in my van and go! The site is old an tired with poor lighting in some areas. There is a new toilet block being built - lets hope they train the dogs to use it!

August 2003 Location of this site is the key...5 minutes into St Ives. Site is well set out, toilet block/showers are clean and well maintained although slightly ageing. I never had to queue for a shower..! Have a few reservations about the distance you have to walk however, if in the top field its a fair trek. Ideally they should locate some toilet blocks and showers in the far field (maybe only temporary for the high season). Staff were all very polite. My only reservations for this site especially with young children is that there is no family entertainment set up on the site or in St Ives, okay you can have a meal and take them to the arcade but further than that you'll be struggling. Think that a small pool would also be good investment for the site. Would return but only when the kid's are older...

JULY 2003 quite a nice site and has very good sea views, handy for getting down into st.Ives town. downside is tiolet block in need of refurbishment and the one block serves both the caravan and camping fields and if you are unfortunte enough to be pitched close to the toilet block you will get the campers coming past all hours day and night.also if you are a caravaner and have a awning they do cram you in quite tight and you are limeted for space!this was my first visit and i dont think i would rush back at £25 a night mid season for car caravan awning 2 adults and 1 dog(and by the way you cant take your dog on the beach)there are better places cheaper in just as nice settings

July 2003 An excellent campsite!
Not sure where the above writer got £7-£10 from - it cost us around £17 / night as there's a charge for the tent, a charge for the car, and a charge per person which can get a tad misleading.
That said, this campsite has so much going for it - fantastic location with wonderful views of St Ives, good clean (if slightly dated) facilities and friendly, helpful staff.
Definitely somewhere where I'd go again, which has got to be the ultimate test.

Sept 2002 Beautiful location, even in the rain, with good walks on the doorstep. Site is good value, well maintained by helpful staff. You need reliable legs to walk back up from town, but there is a bus service. I'll be back.

Ayr holiday park is situated 5 mintues away from St Ives town centre, and is the only campsite located within St. Ives. Although mainly focused on static caravans and holiday cottages, the site does have a terrific area just for backpackers, and another for tourers ( tents & cars).
Well priced at between £7-10 per night in mid/high season.
They are very helpful and will do as much as possible to help with your booking and your stay. They even let me leave my tent there last year!
They have good ameneties including family shower rooms, a club room with t.v. pool and vending machines and a great play area with a real fishing boat for the children to play on!
They also have the local bus stop in the front of the park for those of us without transport and tired kids! it only costs about 30p to the town centre, and with it being uphill on the way back, it is really useful.
I have been going to this campsite for about three years backpacking with a small child, and can't fault them at all.
