This is one of the best sites we have ever stayed on. This was a return visit for us (last time was back in 2006!). Nice, friendly welcome and quick book in on arrival. We had a hardstanding pitch, with its own water, waste and EHU with the most fantastic views over St Ives Bay! OK, it's not the cheapest of sites but you certainly get what you pay for. The toilet / shower block is excellent. Plenty of showers, toilets and sinks and Pirate FM (local radio) piped in 24-7 - and the place is spotless! There are also a couple of uni-sex shower rooms c/w shower, toilet, and sink. The indoor washing up area is also immaculate. There is direct access to the SW coastal path from the site which takes you down to St Ives off-road! The walk down is steep in places so beware on the way back up! St Ives itself is a very doggie friendly town. We ate in the famous / oldest pub there - The Sloop - and the food was great (and the cider!). We also drank in the Lifeboat Inn and again no problem taking the dog in (nice staff)! Plenty of wandering to be done in and around St Ives and its lovely beaches or just while away some time sat overlooking the harbour. Beware of the scavenging seagulls, they'll have food out of your hands if you're not careful! We love this place so much we are considering returning over Christmas! Can't wait! :o)

First time in St Ives. Campsite is huge and the toilet/shower blocks are lovely and clean.
A plus and a negative is its location. On top of a hill. Fantastic views, breathtaking but the wind broke our tent and we had to use our little 2 man for the entire trip and we nearly lost that a few times. Tried a wind break but that snapped too. Pretty much impossible to cook dinner as the wind did not stop so spent most of the time either drinking cider in the pub or curled up awake in the tent thinking it was going to blow down.
Left a day early due to weather.

Our first visit to St Ives and we weren't disappointed.
The site itself is well maintained and only a ten minute walk into St Ives. Although, as mentioned in previous reviews, the walk back is a bit steep. We stayed for two nights and got a taxi back on the second as I just couldn't face it (which was a whole £2.70 and worth every penny!).
Positives:- Absolutely spectacular views over St Ives bay.
- The toilet and shower facilities are fantastic. Very clean, free power showers, sockets for hair dryers / straighteners and shaver sockets in the gents (so my husband tells me). The piped music into the shower blocks is fab for when you're getting ready to go out on an evening.
- Three washing sinks for doing dishes which never really seemed to get busy and water is hot.
- Generally a good well maintained site.
Negatives:- No disposable BBQs . Which we weren't told about before we arrived on site, and the piped music is a bit much if you need a loo trip in the middle of the night.
Overall a really nice site to stay at, and will definitely consider staying there again if planning another visit to St Ives in the future.

Stayed here for the first time last year. Husband has been here before.
They have the best shower/toilet facilities I have ever been to! Love the music playing whilst you are in there. They also have an area with mirrors and plug sockets so you can not only take your own hair drier, but straightners also! Never had queue for a shower.
Only a short walk down hill into St Ives - Only downside it the walk back up the hill!
We stayed the week after the torrential rain so our pitch was slightly muddy (had to pitch a ground sheet outside to stop us walking mud in the tent!)
We think the price is great considering the facilities and its the closest place you can get to St Ives.
Needless to say we have booked to go again this year!

This site is very well placed to walk into the town of St. Ives (if you don't mind a steep walk down and back. We walked it everyday with our young children. It does have glorious views of the bay and because of this it is very blustery, so we didn't use our awning. The toilets and showers are to a high spec, however the shower cubicles are really small, so it is nigh on impossible to shower your child with you. The rest of the site is dated and not looking at it's best. The hardstanding pitches were very small. When we arrived the receptionist was quite miserable, no pleasantries, just presented us with a bill, told us where to pitch and that was it. The site did not reflect the pricey pitch fee, although some happy smiling faces at reception could have made the difference. If I were to return, I would look somewhere else first.

We stayed for a weekend in August in our VW Campervan. The site is lovely with fantastic facilities and views. It is an easy walk into the town which too is fantastic. However, we were put in the 'overflow' field with no electric (which I don't mind) but we take up the space of a parking space in a field and were charged £27 per night (Just 2 adults) I didn't let on we had our dog with us as I think that would of made it £30/night. All in all it was a lovely weekend but £54 for a quick weekend away in a field is a bit too pricey for me and because of this reason and this reason only I don't think I'll re-visit :-(

Fairly mixed feelings about this site.
As all the other reviews have said the toilet and shower block is to a very high standard with plenty of hot water that is partly solar heated so some green brownie point there.
A big site but quite busy and fairly crowded at this peak time of the year. Its high position is both its strong point and weak point as you get the views but you are also very exposed so when the wind is blowing you had better be sure your tent is a good strong one fixed with good pegs.
We felt that although there were good facilities that this was primarily a commercial operation taking every opportunity to extract money from guests. The one that has to take the biscuit is the bus service that takes you to St Ives being £2.50 per person for a return. It is no surprise then that hardly anyone used it. There were 3 of us and the bus would have cost £7.50, instead we paid £5.50 for an all day ticket at one of the St Ives car park and we could go back and forth as many times as we liked.

As cycle tourers, we were allocated to one of the 15 unmarked pitches in the 'backpackers' section. This was on quite a steep slope, but no worse than where some of the caravans and large tents seemed precariously balanced. It was also rather expensive at £14 per night, even for one backpacker. But: location, location, location - this is a few minutes walk from the centre of St Ives. Unfortunately we were there during torrential rain but the unique combination of beautiful beaches and mediterranean-style narrow streets with whitewashed cottages, galleries, cafes and fascinating little shops means its reputation is well-deserved. As well as the touristy part, follow Main Road up away from the harbour and there are more typical high street shops, banks etc, including a very old fashioned bakers with the most wonderful pasties - don't bother with the tourist trap ones near the harbour. The shower block IS something else and probably deserves to win a best campsite loo block award, and the views of St Ives and Godrevy Head probably deserve to win another award.

Like everyone else I was impressed with the facilities, but they do come at a price. What do you get for your money? - truly lovely views of St Ives and the Atlantic (and dolphins if you're lucky); the closest campsite to the town (easy 10mins walk, but bit of a hill on the way back up); Excellent showers/toilet facilities and if you are camping some of the pitches are very generous. If you want space and the best views and are in a tent you want pitches 83 to 86. In St Ives you get gorgeous beaches, art galleries every five seconds and some very nice cafes and pubs (try the Sloop Inn). For all the above it's a great site, but if you want a base to explore more of Cornwall you may wish to choose something a little less expensive.

Fantastic site, excellent facilities. Most modern toilet/shower block I've come across.
Nice view over St. Ives, and only ten minute walk into the town or to the beach.
St. Ives itself, is a lovely town. Loads of unique shops and art galleries. Good pubs and grub.
Watch out for the seagulls though, they will swoop for your ice cream or pasty. Quite vicious.
Will definitely be back.
