We stayed at Wood Farn for three nights in mid June, I have to say that on arrival the receptionist seemed very pre-occupied, thus not giving information booklets etc about the site. The site itself although very hilly was very pleasant and clean with great views from our fully serviced touring pitch. Toilet blocks seemed to be closed for cleaning at regular intervals (perhaps too often), meaning that they were spotlessly clean all the time. Our dog enjoyed the dog walk area which was very large, enabling him to have a great run.

With two teenage boys in tow I was very disappointed that there is a charge to use the swimming pool, it beacame very costly at £2 per person per swim, bearing in mind that the site is not the cheapest site around, The plus side of this is that the pool very rarely had more that 8 people in it.

I can't see us visiting this site again and would not recommend it to families with children aged 8+

We stayed two nights at this beautifully located site nestling on the hillside, with mainly terraced pitches.

Very clean, well laid out site, staff very friendly and efficient, grass well kept.

Very well equipped for a family holiday - indoor swimming pool, super games room, play area, tennis court, fishing lake etc etc

Well located between Charmouth and Lyme Regis - one day caught bus into Lyme from Charmouth side of the roundabout, then walked back along the beach to Charmouth. Very pleasant walk!

Negatives:

Terrace very squidgy after heavy rain in the night - slow to drain.

Toilet block in our field Oak Lea - very clean but only 2 showers; very cramped, no seat and no curtain between wet and dry areas. Didn't look forward to a shower at all! Other toilet blocks may have better showers.

A35 very noisy particularly noticable early in the morning.

This is a lovely site. The toilets/showers were very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The site is very well kept, with hedges trimmed and grass mowed regularly. The children's play area is good, and they also have an indoor play barn for when the weather is not so good. The swimming pool is also very good. Charmouth and Lyme Regis are just a short drive away. The pitches are spacious and well laid out on ledges down the hillside, so you have an uninterupted view of the coast. Altogether excellent.

Stayed here on the off chance and was very impressed. Site is very hilly but most pitches are on fairly flat areas.

Site is spotless with excellent bathrooms and dish washing areas. My biggest problem was that the water was too hot.

There is a shop with most things including chilled wine. Staff are very helpful.

Pool was very clean and had a shallow area for smaller kids.

Would I go again, most definitely.

Just stayed for 10 days on this site. As it was our third time I guess you could say we like it. Some things to note though if you intend to go which are pretty minor.

Site slopes a lot although serviced tent pitches are level. Don't go for space 10 as it is under a big tree. We are still cleaning off the sap.

Had a rain storm when we put up the tent which led to a vegetable soup feeling under the ground sheet the rest of the week. Very well managed site though and they came round with sand and cardboard for the worst effected.

Sloping site also means no scooters for kids. They allow bikes but it is not very practical and being on a main road there is nowhere for the kids to go outside the site anyhow. Nice games room for younger kids.

Facilities are generally very clean, just the usual stuff on the floor of shower blocks but they provide buckets and mops if you want to self clean before you go in. Nice touch are the family rooms in the central block and the family bathroom with bath (shower attachment), for which you need to pay extra for a key but with four kids it was a godsend.

Bins were a bit of an issue with it being Bank Holiday. They distribute recycling bins which are way too small for the amount of wine bottles and water containers but they do make efforts most days to clear this up. Problem was the main rubbish bins were full by Friday night and were not emptied by the time we left on the Tuesday. They did make an effort to re-distribute the ones they had but seemed largely to run out. However bin areas are sectioned off so it was still tidy and safe.

Swim pool great and tennis court in good shape but remember to get the ticket at the reception at the top of the site before you go to the bottom to use them. Considering the price of the pitches it was a bit disappointing that you had to pay extra as well.

Shop on site very limited. Would recommend going to Charmouth a mile down the road which has a superb store open to 9 every night that still had a choice of bread even at 8.30 on Bank Holiday Monday evening.

Will probably go again, but remember to leave the scooters behind this time and ask for a pitch not under the tree.

Still need to get that trailer.

We camped here for 5 nights (should have been 6 but we gave up due to the mud) in August 07.  The whole campsite is very steep and the caravans and tents appear to cling to the hillside!  We were on a spacious terraced pitch in Chestnut Grove and all seemed well until it rained.  The pitch was completely waterlogged and would not drain.  However, the site is in a good spot for exploring this piece of coast line.  Charmouth is lovely and unspoilt.  The A35 runs right past the campsite and is very noisy which you notice late at night and early in the morning.  The campsite facilities are good, pool, games room and tennis etc.  There is also a fishing lake but all of this is an extra charge.  Good for younger kids but not much for teenagers.  The facilities (toilets etc.) vary depending on which ones you choose to use.  Some are cleaner than others.
I don't think I'd go there again and camp but would consider one of the static mobile homes.

An excellent, efficient and friendly site that we only camped at once but stay at many other times as my parents owned a static van there. The site slopes steeply but the camping pitches, some of which have power, are on level terraces. The toilets and showers are excellent and were spotlessly clean when we used them. We saw them being cleaned frequently.

I echo the other reviewer's comments about the rookery in the trees. It is no better when you are in a static van because although you are shielded from the noise, they land on your roof and stomp about at 5:00am!

The dog exercise field is a revelation - other sites don't even have main pitches as well manicured. It is fenced off, has bins and plastic bags - so there is no excuse for mess being left on the field - and is large enough for dogs to get a really good run.

We stayed at this site in a static caravan owned by a family member as we didn't want to take the tourer so far.

The site is very pretty and is set looking down onto the surrounding area. Although the site itself is sloping. The pitches are terraced so the majority are flat with some individual pitches screened by hedging and some fully serviced pitches.

There is a small shop/reception which sells some essentials and numerous washing facilities and toilets/showers around the site  which were all immaculate and of a high standard. What I liked about the showers was that they had a seating area in each cubicle away from the water so your clothes don't get wet.

There was also a play area for children and a small indoor recreation hall for children which had a climbing area, 2 pool tables, a table tennis set and benches for adults.

The swimming pool was very warm and spotless. We had the pool to ourselves for the afternoon and had a great time. There is no club or pub but this makes the camp very peaceful. There is also a mobile fish and ship shop on site  which was a bit pricey but sold very nice fish. The fishing lakes are also excellent and set at the bottom of the site in lovely surroundings.

We had a lovely time whilst there and my daughter had a great time chasing the hundreds of rabbits which are all over the site!

The only negatives I can see are that there isn't much to do for teenagers and didn't see 1 teenager whilst we were there. Also you have to drive to most of the area to access the facilities such as the beach (which was good for fossil hunting - we found 5!) and the pubs or supermarkets.

All in all, if you are looking for a peaceful setting with spotless facilities then this is for you but if you are looking for somewhere were the older children can go off and do their own thing, I think I would look for something with a bit more aimed at their age group.

Wood Farm is mainly for caravans with limited tent pitches so advisable to book for a tent. As requested we had a large pitch with EHU and were shown straight in from reception which was very efficient. Shop in reception has all the essentials. The site is on a slope but the pitches are level. Reception at top and a lovely indoor pool (£2 each but under 5's free), play areas, dog walk and lake at bottom.
Toilet, shower and washing up facilities were modern and clean and liberally doted around the site so never far to walk. Hot water seemed to disappear by mid morning so early shower advised. Could do with adjusting the push-buttons on the showers to longer than 5 seconds!
No club or bar on site but made for a quieter stay. Charmouth is just down the road and we took the girls fossil hunting on the beach (if you can't find any fossils there's a shop on the beach that sells them). Lyme Regis is a short drive though tricky to park at peak times. Plenty of good pubs in the area but worth finding the Anchor Inn at Seatown overlooking the beach. Charmouth is close to Devon so if you're not sure if you want Dorset or Devon it's a good position.
Only problem we found was with the rookery in the trees next to the site which could be a bit noisy at dawn but give me nature any day. Overall very impressed with Wood Farm and have added it to our list of returns.

This was a last minute idea for Easter and we were not to be disappointed.

A lovely site, well kept and with excellent facilities.
Toilets and showers etc. Kept really clean, even though the site was virtually full.

Take plenty of levelling blocks though as the site is on quite a slope in places.  Some of the pitches are quite small and not really suitable for modern big 'vans.  The first pitch we tried we had to give up on as it was too small and on too much of a slope for our long van and wide awning.

However, the wardens were superb and sorted us out with decent level pitch.  Although a bit narrow for our wide awning, it was fine and well sheltered between pitch hedges.

The views from the site are quite nice and the peacefulness welcome.

The kids loved exploring the site and fishing on the owners well stocked pond.

We had a great week and did the fosil hunt etc. Along the beach at Charmouth.

This was a great nostalga trip for me, returning to a site I stayed on regularly when I was a child growing up in Somerset.  (Some 35 odd years ago !)
