Stayed at Wood Farm on a premium pitch. When we arrived it had been raining and it was extremely muddy but managed to drive over the grass and pitch up without causing too much damage to the grass. Site had only just opened for the season. Was impressed with the individual shower rooms. It was bitter outside and I think that the heating could have been switched on for longer periods of time as getting undressed in the shower room (at varying times of the day) was quite a chilling experience. However the water was hot and it soon warmed you up. Very clean and well kept site. Surprised that there appeared to be no security going on or coming off site.
Near to two local pubs and a really good bus service to take you into Lyme Regis, Bridport and surrounding area. We only used the car once during our stay. We also used the on site cafe and the food was good.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and if in the area again will certainly stay at Wood Farm

Good site, well pleased, after booking in at reception you are escorted to your pitch (better than having 4 chooses. Your mind is made up for you) varying pitch size for tent, campervan, motor home, caravan. Good clean washroom water hot all the time in shower.
Good food on site next to swimming pool (2. 50 per session). Bus service within 200m, No. 31 & X53 buses run from Weymouth to Axminster every hour.

Stayed for a week, when booking we asked for a pitch near the shower block.
We got what we wanted, staff very friendly, showers clean.
Showers are spread out over the site, so we found when the one nearest to us was being cleaned, we could use another.
Shop was well stocked, news papers, milk ect
Small cafe on site, takeaways or eat in, never tried the food.
One problem with the pitches, way to close, we had a full awning & we had problems putting it up, hedges on both sides of the pitch was in the way.
Next pitch had a motor home & put a stand alone awning up, which by the time it was up, there was about 5 foot space between us & them.
Later in the week a touring caravan turned up on the other side & parked very close to our awning, not their fault, just the pitches way too small.
You can hear the road noise, but get used to it after a while, sort of back ground noise.
Nice walk down to the lake, but mind the steep walk back.
Charmouth nice village on the coast, like a little fishing village.
Won't be going back to site because of the pitches, not worth the £36 a night.

An excellent site, very well maintained and very well run. We visited in August for 6 nights. All staff we encountered were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Very cheerful and helpful reception staff. Shop well stocked with basic essentials and more. Good size well spaced level pitch (Terraced pitches on sloping site) we stayed in area with individual electric, water and waste connections.
Toilets/showers and washing facilities were always clean. Laundry was well equipped. Restaurant very pleasant, reasonable prices and very helpful staff (adapting their steak night menu to suit dietary requirements of one of us).
Excellent well maintained fishing lake (although a bit of a steep walk back).
Childrens facilities looked to be very good, play area, games room, pool etc (no children in our party but we did consider it very suitable for our grandchildren)
Did not use the pool but it looked very pleasant and well appointed.
Chalmouth, a mile or so away was very pleasant, good selection of village shops and a popular beach.
Overall an exceptional site, we will certainly visit again.

Just returned from a visit to Wood Farm, Charmouth. Two adults and 2 children. The site was beautifully kept, we were very pleased to see this as this was our first visit with the grandchildren.
The electric hookups were close by and the hardstanding were level, the use of gravel for the awning is a good idea as it keeps dry (although you have to make sure that you put your shoes on before standing on the gravel!)
The toilet blocks were very nicely laid out/plentiful and cleaned regularly (although sadly not all the visitors using them were always as sanitary!) Do the mops and buckets for the use of the visitors have cleaning/disinfecting fluid in them? I was concerned that I was mopping the shower with just dirty water!
The play area was very nice for young children and the indoor pool was definitely a hit. The staff at the cafe and pool were most helpful and polite.
I thought the laundry a little expensive and I had to go back to the shop to buy the soap powder (could there be a dispenser in the laundry please).
The staff on site were very helpful with directions/bus times etc.
Overall we had a lovely time and would certainly come back again and have already recommended it to other members of the family.

We have just come back after staying eight nights tenting at Wood Farm and think this is an amazing site. The site is very hilly but the landscapers have made an excellent job of it so all pitches are perfectly level. Our tent pitch was big enough for our large six-person tent plus car plus a lot of surrounding area and the tent was pitched on bark which meant good drainage and although we had two days of high winds by the sea, all was calm at the site so it is well sheltered.
Wood Farm is situated in a beautiful valley off the A35 Exeter to Dorchester road, about two miles from Lyme Regis and one mile from Charmouth. On arrival the staff at reception and around the site were very friendly and continued to be so throughout our stay.
There are shower/toilet blocks all over the site so you don't have to walk far and they are kept spotlessly clean. Hot water is always available and we were never waiting for a shower at any time of the day. Some of the blocks have large rooms with toilet, shower, sink, hairdryer and large mirror if you want more privacy.
The site is very quiet, possibly because we were not there during school holidays but everyone seemed to be asleep by 9pm and the only sound was from the nearby road but this is something that you get used to regarding distant traffic.
There is an indoor heated swimming pool which is open for a few hours in the morning and between 2pm and 7pm in the afternoon plus the sauna is open in the afternoon. The cost is a very reasonable £2. 50 per person. The offshore cafe is situated next to the pool and does drinks and snacks plus two themed nights, eg, curry night/steak night etc. We didn't eat in the cafe but it looked very nice and others on the site recommended it.
The site is full of nature – every morning we had rabbits hopping around all over the site and on one occasion there was a female deer munching outside our tent. There are two small fishing lakes next to the dog walk and these have an abundance of wildlife.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this site for many reasons and can't understand why some people above here have left some negative comments. One bit of practical advice – although it is only two miles from Lyme Regis, the walk back from the town is up a very long steep hill so I would recommend that you take the car and pay the £1. 70 all day parking charge on Charmouth Road (free after 6pm) as the walk home is quite difficult.
Also you can only reach lyme regis from Charmouth village via the rocky beach at low tide – the main cliff path has now disappeared.

I agree with all the positive comments about, friendly staff, excellent facilities etc. But be warned, if you have a small caravan, you will be put on a small pitch next to access road. You'll be watching cars go past you all day and the fumes are awful. I think as the pitches are same price, they should be same size.

On arrival a efficient welcoming team, who showed us to our site and the offered us a choice of pitches.
The one we had was fully serviced across the service road from the amenity block.
Toilets, showers were very clean, checked more than once a day.
We were lucky that there were only two caravans on the 4 pitch patch.
The hard standing was very hard, additional heavy duty pegs were required for the awning! But no real problem.
We ate Sunday lunch in the restaurant, very good home cooked food and watched the wildlife on the manicured lawns outside.
Dogs were allowed but had to be kept on a lead at all times.
All the time we were made to feel welcome and at £21. 50 per night we felt it was excellent value.
Would we return definitely, yes.

A pretty quiet site considering it's just off a main road. Good pitch for a van with hook up.
Good walks from the site over to Charmouth or Lyme Regis although the site itself has a lovely lake walk too. Very good dog walk area.
One of the toilet/shower blocks was in the middle of being updated while we were there. The block that we used was very clean, warm and excellent showers that were nice and private. Wahing up facilities were good.
There was an on site shop and a jacket potato person arrived on a Friday night for campers!
It's a shame it doesn't open all year.

We spent a week at Wood Farm in the August school holidays. Reception staff were very friendly and there was a nice feel to the campsite with great views. We were pitched quite close to the main road and traffic noise was fairly constant however further away nearer the lake the pitches seemed much quieter. The shower and toilet block were very clean and well kept, there was a tennis court and a small indoor heated pool which the kids loved. My only critism was that they had to be accompanyed upto the age of 15 which in my opinion puts a lots of families off from using it as much as they would like. There was a chip van that visited the site twice a week, we used it once and it was very nice. This site is useful for visiting Lyme Regis and South Devon.
