Myself and some friends stayed on this site in August 2009, we had a great time and were really lucky with the weather.

When we arrived we received a warm welcome (despite us being a young party) this made a big difference as I was worried about the reception we would receive.

Despite our late booking, the site staff were able to find us two pitches side by side in a nice secluded part of the site. We wasn't shown to our pitches, but the map we were given was clear and the pitches were easy to find. Later on, one of the managers came to our pitches to ensure we were in the right place, he was very friendly and we didn't feel like we were being checked up on!

The part of the site we were on was terraced and there seemed to be ample space between the pitches. The site was very well maintained and had great views.

The facilities on the site were very good. The shower and toilet facilities were old but very clean.

One slight issue that some might not like is that the gate to the site didn't close in the evening. We wasn't disturbed by anyone returning to the site late as the way the site was arranged, sound didn't seem to travel far.

The location of the site was also very good, there was easy access to the site from a major road (not that we noticed it was there) and were plenty of popular tourist destinations not far away.

We would certainly return to this site again, and I have recommended it to other friends and family.

We thought Wood Farm as the name suggests would be a rural setting we were a bit disappointed that we backed on to the A35 which has constant traffic noise. The wardens were very friendly and helpful.
Swimming pool clean and as there were hardly any people in there felt like my own personal pool, limited times of opening 10-1.00 and 2-7.00 sauna was only open in the afternoon session. Offshore bar not open in the evenings which was a shame. Showers quite small in the pool area but very clean.
However the shower block was very dated and needs refurbishing. Pitches well laid out, we just had the standard one and there was plenty of room inbetween the next van. Beautiful views over the open countryside. Walk over the fields to Charmouth closed so had to go via the road but very pleasant. Well stocked shop even though it was late in the season.

This is a nice site with good views from some pitches, vans not crowded too close together. We were shown to our pitch which was on the top of a steep slope, and even with a 4 wheel drive we found it a struggle to reverse onto our pitch-it would have been impossible in wet conditions.
There is a fair amount of traffic noise, but being from London, we didn't notice it much after a while. The showers tend to be either cold, tepid or boiling hot depending on the time of day. The on site chippy is awful, frozen breadcrumbed fish, and only 5 minutes from the sea! Wouldn't recommend it at all. Charmouth we thought was great,
Lyme Regis is fine, but very narrow streets - wouldn't fancy it in high season. We only paid just over £100 for 7 nights which was fine, but some paid well over £20.00 a night which is, I think, a lot for September.

Spent 10 nights here in Sept 09. Easy to find site on the A35. Well sign posted. No nasty bends or narrow lanes for the double axel users. Light road noise at commutor times. On arrival, they led you to your pitch, which was a nice touch. We booked a 'super pitch', which had very good views across the valley. It also included TV hook up. TV cables were available at no cost, but a £15 refundable deposit. The site is sloping, and most, if not all, pitches looked level.

Pitches are generous, most are hard standing. Main paths are all tarmac. Large dog walk and nice lake for fishing. We did not try the pool, but it looked very good. I think there was a small charge £2 or so each. Perfect if the weather is poor. Reasonably stocked shop and an on site take away van in the evening.

This is a very well maintained site with lovely views across the Dorset countryside.

We did have a small problem with the power cutting out a number of times, as the site fuse box for our area kept tripping. This seemed to happen to a number of vans at breakfast and dinner times.

The toilet blocks are OK and clean, but looked dated and there were not really enough loos, with queues at busy times.

2 mins by car to the superb coast with some fab walking on the World Heritage Site coast. Plenty of things to see locally - Charmouth, Seatown (The Anchor Pub), Chideot (The George Pub), Lyme Regis, Dorchester, Cerne Abbas etc and countless thatched villages.

Overall, this is a fine, well maintained site with good facilities for families or couples. The staff are particularly helpful and always seem keen to please.

We stayed here last July, we managed to miss the shop/reception hours so ended up next to the fish and chip van for the night. Still there was an electric hookup etc :)

The site is very organised, toilets and showers clean - my only gripe with them is that they are the ones were you have to keep pressing the button in every 30 seconds.

The facilities are great, shop stocks all you basics and the dog walk is a great idea and was used a lot.

A short car drive away you'll get to the main town and beaches.

We are going back this year and taking our friends too!

Have been to Wood Farm several times now and will keep coming back. The facilities for camping are second to none. They have recently upgraded the camping pitches and put down large squares of soft barky / woody stuff which is soft on the feet under the groundsheet, 100% flat and large enough for the hugest of tents.

The toilets/shower block are always clean with hot water and only short stagger away.

The shop stocks all the basics and there is the added bonus of takeaway fish and chip van on site. Large swimming pool and games room on site too.

The area itself is very pretty. The site is set in the rolling hills. Walk around the fishing lake very nice.

The only problem, not that its anyones fault as such, is that there are some very noisy crows living in the trees at Wood Farm, and they start at about 4am! Not much you can do about that though and all in all a top class site.

Booked this campsite after reading the reviews. All I can say is definitely worth the visit. We booked a premium pitch with electric, water, tv hookup and grey waste drainage. Amazing views over the valley.

The staff are so friendly they close reception at 7pm on Friday night but stayed till 8pm for us as we had been stuck in traffic, nothing was too much trouble.

Only negatives. Weekend is too short and the hardstanding is brilliant for a caravan but not for the awning floor.

WE spent 4 nights at Wood farm over the May bank holiday and had a fantastic time. The wardens are very friendly and helpful. The shop though quite small has everything you need including fresh foods and caravan supplies. The toilet blocks are modern and very clean even though the site was full. The pitches are large and are built on terraces giving superb views of the surrounding area. I have stayed on many sites over the years and have to say this is the best I've been to. Give it a visit you wont be disappointed.

No mention made in site descriptions anywhere of the very steep terrain of this site, and/or its unsuitability for older people with parked-up motorhomes.

To traipse up the steep incline on foot is an ordeal from the lower level to the shop or site entrance at the top. Our cycles remained on the rack. Bus stops are fairly near to the site entrance.

Actual hardstandings are small, appear quite old and most don't look level. Ours was too small for our 6m. Motorhome and it proved impossible to get it level enough.

Sporting/leisure facilities though are excellent, as is the dog walk. Not always excellent was cleanliness in amenity blocks. The outside washing up facilities' taps appear old and don't work properly.

Half term week booked, last week of October, yes, the freezing week with hailstorms & winds!

Super site with decent, level size pitches, on the tiered site & rather fortunately located down the lower part of the site close to the indoor swimming pool & childrens indoor activity area, both really well used because of the weather that week.

The toilet/shower blocks were really clean & warm, although the non-regulated hot water was just too hot for younger children. All water / waste facilities were very good. The reception staff were polite & friendly & helped whenever asked, which was handy, this being our first venture with a caravan for 25 years!

The local area was great, Charmouth beach a must for fossil hunters, Lyme Regis for a flat promenade stroll from the harbour car park round to the town, & not that far from Dorchester & Weymouth for the 'big shops'. Local supermarkets were close by at Axminster & Bridport.

I can only imaging that with decent summer weather, this site / area is even nicer than experienced in our 'cold week'. Would definitely consider returning in the future
