Booked this site for our 17ft Motorhome during October Half term. Very nice site although the pitches are level on tiered site. We booked a premium pitch which had fabulous views over the valley as well as electricity, our own water supply and waste drainage. The pitch was gravelled with grass around it but was open plan.
Toilet blocks were spotless although the showers did not have temperature controls. This was fine for adults, but my 10 year old son found them to be a little bit too hot.
The site has a fantastic swimming pool complex including a sauda, although they charge £2.00 per person (this includes children as well) per swim. The man on duty at the swimming pool was very pleasant as were the other members of staff at this site.
We purchased a couple of local maps from reception for walks into Lyme Regis and Charmouth which took us through forests and fields and we even saw a couple of deer on one of these walks. Lyme Regis has a wide selection of shops, cafe's and a very nice beach. Charmouth is a lot smaller but has a world famous beach where you can go fossel collecting either by yourself or with a guide. A lovely cafe on the seafront sells a selection of hot meals, cakes, snacks and drinks.
Reception also have explorer maps and the shop stocks basic groceries such as newspapers, milk, etc as well as providing further information on the surrounding area.
This site is extremely handy for exploring the area by car as it is literally next to the A35 which does produce some road noise during the evening and early morning, but nothing too much.
Overall this was a very nice site and we would recommend it and would consider visiting again.

Excellent site - in terms of facilities (top notch), staff helpfulness, views etc. Cannot recommend it too highly. There is some traffic noise at the top of the site on the cheaper stands but not enough to put you off. The on-site takeaway is not all that good - perhaps we went there on a bad night.
Charmouth itself (15 minute walk) is a lovely seaside town with wide beaches, lots of walks, good local shops and two pubs - both of which serve food (not sampled); they are not the sort that would feature in the Good Pub Guide, unfortunately.

After reading the reviews regarding the slopes and the unfriendly wardens, I was slightly concerned about having booked this site, especially as we are new to caravanning. On arrival we were offered a pitch which seemed very cramped indeed and would have meant us needing a very large step indeed to get into the caravan. However, we spoke to the warden and he said that we could move to the top of the site, which we did. This pitch was much nicer and closer to the newer toilet facilities and gave us much more space. Pool is lovely and shop great. Family rooms were superb! On leaving it was very wet and muddy, but the warden came along with his land rover and took our caravan off the pitch for us and parked ready for us to hook up on the road! More than friendly and helpful, I would say! Great area for Dorset and Devon. Used Caravan Club membership for many 2 for 1 offers on local attractions. Would recommend this site, but would suggest that you request a site at the top of the hill!

Enjoyed our visit to this site, plenty to do in the area for all sorts of interests. Good amenities and I can recommend the fish n chip trailer. We only had one problem. We go camping with friends and we like to be together. The site would not guarantee this and the site is terraced. In the end our friends were above us with a steep slope between us. As it happened it worked out all right, but it could have been very awkward.
We went to they nearby zoo which was good but very up and down and difficult with pushchairs.
Would use the site again but we found the distance a bit much.

Just returned from a weeks stay. We chose this site because of all the good recommendations in the Practical Caravan Magazine, however on arrival were very disappointed. The pitch was too small for our 5 berth tourer, you'd be ok with a small 2 berth van. The level pitches described were not level therefore we had to prop the legs and jockey wheel very high, which still left our caravan not level which didn't leave to a great night sleep for our 3 year old or my 6 1/2 month pregnant wife. We weren't the only ones either. After setting up we then tried to find a tv reception. There wasn't one, The Booster which were available to hire were also not available in our field, so with a 3 year old and the weather poor we had to watch DVD's. The toilet block was nearby but on our 1st visit to the shower we found the showers very hot, in fact they were far too hot for our toddler. We also found that the Toilet block was cleaned at different times of the day depending on how many new arrivals they had. The swimming pool was good and as you had to pay £2.00 per person this kept the numbers down. We feel slightly let down by all the good comments made about this site, as mentioned above we chose this site because of the good reviews and the mention of a terrace but level pitch!

Just done 2 weeks at Wood Farm. A very picturesque site, with lovely views from the terraces. Overall the site is on a heavy slope! Some of the tent pitches are heavily sloping, but we had a pitch that was in a reasonably flat area, although it was under a tree, which meant the rain sounded worse than it was! The traffic noise mentioned in other reviews didn't seem that bad compared with other sites we have stayed at.
Using the facilities on the site is expensive. £3 to use the washing machines, and 50p for half an hour of the tumble dryers. Be warned, if you are thinking of taking spare ice packs, you cannot freeze them. Instead you have to hire Wood Farm's own Ice Packs at £2 each (refunded when you leave), and then pay 20p per Ice Pack every time you want to get frozen ones. It is possible to get a family bathroom in one of the blocks. Again, you have to pay for this (about £4 for 24 hours), but you have the luxury of a full size bath, and a private toilet. We used this once as there were 3 toddlers in the party who all needed a good soak!
Facilities for the children are OK. There's a games room which has a soft indoor play area, 2 pool tables and table tennis. There are also a couple of outdoor play areas which kept our kids amused for hours!
An information & internet room is also available. Loads of info on surrounding area. Use of the Internet is £1 for 15 minutes. Needless to say, never saw anyone using it!
Access to Lyme Regis and Charmouth is easy, and you are never really more than 45 minutes from any of the decent attractions
Overall, a well maintained site. The communal areas were kept spotless, and cleaned daily. The showers are little more than a dribble of tepid water, though. On the plus side, you have an area to keep things dry in the showers!
I'd recommend this site to anyone, as long as you are prepared to pay for some things.

Just returned after 2 weeks at this site. Many good points and overall found it pleasant. Agree with earlier comments on the reception, not the friendliest welcome we have received.
The site itself is quite sloping but nothing too taxing. The views are lovely, typical England. The grounds are kept neat and tidy. The main facility block at the top part of the site is well equipt and always clean. One negative point - the showers were warm at best only. Showers in family rooms were lovely and hot ( probably too hot for young skins and could not be turned down ! )
For us the main issue with this site is the road noise from the A35, particularly at the top of the site. Not an issue at night but at certain times of the day this was quite a distraction. Quite a few units moved to the lower terraces because of this issue.
We elected not to move as the lower terraces tend to be closer and do not have privacy dividers.
Swimming pool is good but does cost £2.00 per person per session, which considering we were paying over £22 per night for a hardstanding at Caravan Club rates, makes this quite an expensive site.
Well stocked shop on site but as expected the prices are a bit on the expensive side.
Charmouth is an easy walk and well worth it, lovely pub, The George, does reasonable pub food. Car park near beach charges £2.00 for all day or £1.50 after 2pm. Car park on beach is dearer. Lyme Regis is more challenging, but the walk can be shortened by following the footpath, from Fern Hill Hotel, over the golf course and picking up the old footpath in the Spinney. Warning, this walk has steep climbs in both directions, so not recommended for the faint hearted.
Bus services are good with hourly services to Axminster and Bridport etc and 2 hourly coastal service from Poole to Exeter. Just have to fight your way through the bus passes!
Overall would visit again but would would want to be away from the traffic noise.

My wife and I spent five nights here in mixed June weather. We'd been in the area many years ago when we had our (then young) children with us, but enjoyed coming back. The Dorset coast here is beautiful though the opportunity to re-explore it on foot was limited because of extensive cliff subsidence in both directions from Charmouth, closing sections of the coastal walks. Still, for adults unaccompanied by youngsters there's much to see here: Lyme Regis; Weymouth and Chesil Beach; the Abbotsbury Swannery; Dorchester, with its County Museum; Maiden Castle, unbelievably huge; Exeter, if you're prepared to go a little further - the cathedral's worth a visit.
We had mixed feelings about the site itself. Many plus points, most mentioned in other reviews - friendly, welcoming staff; good, clean showering and toilet facilities; beautiful views; good visiting fish and chip service! Our reservation would be the variable size of pitches. Those on the terraces below and above us seemed fairly spacious. On our row, however, despite being also 'premium pitches', we were much closer together, certainly more so than on any other Caravan Club site we used on our three weeks away this summer. I assume this is because as an affiliated site there are more pressing commercial factors, but paying extra for having water, power and drainage on a pitch which felt a little cramped didn't seem best value for money.

We loved it.
The site is clean, tidy and very friendly. The pitches are individual and seculded. Despite the rain and wind over spring bank holiday half term break it was great. It was busy, but you wouldn't know. The facilities were good and well presented.
It is on a hill and by a main road. This didn't bother us, but it is quite steep, so be prepared to exercise those calves.
Walking to Charmouth beach 1 mile away will take your time on the way back as it is a 1in10 hill. Though it is worth it when you are there.
Lime Regis is lovely and a great day out for a good quality British seaside town.
There is plenty to do and see in the area and we ran out of time. I seriously recommend the swanery at Abbotsbury if you are going at the end of May. It was lovely to see so many swans and their chicks together.
We had a great time and would definitely go again.

Just spent a lovely week here, pitch was great with fantastic views and big enough for our vango diablo 600. Toilet and shower facilities superb, always clean and warm but when it got busier noticed a lack of loo paper.
Shop is great for emergencies both food and equipment, swimming pool good but begrudged the extra charge, kids loved both the indoor and outdoor play facilities.
Great base for the area, we visited Lyme (beach), Charmouth (fossils) and Sidmouth (donkey sanctuary) Loads more within an hours drive, check out the well stocked Tourist info room. (good bus links too I think although didn't use them)
Overall was great sunday - friday when there were only ever 3 or 4 tents on the tent field, come the weekend though it was packed and a rather noisy, large group spoilt our last night a bit with rowdiness till almost midnight.
A word of warning: don't leave food anywhere that could be accessed by a squirrel! We were amazed to find that a rather naughty little hooligan had raided our bread rolls, coco pops, raisins and rubbish bag which were in the porch of the tent!
Would definitely return during quiet periods, this site felt a bit cramped on a busy june weekend but thats just our preference.
