Our first visit to the Dorset area and we really enjoyed ourselves. Woodfarm was a great base for our visits along the Dorset coast. The site was hilly and we had to use our cycle helmets on site, although the children did cycle I'm afraid my bike didn't come off the bike rack. Great facilities for the children, a recreation centre, swimming pool (although £2 pp) I think you could buy a book of 20 tickets for about £1.50 each, which is a good idea if you are staying longer than we did. Toilet & shower block close by and were very nice and clean. The site for us felt safe and when we got back at then end of the day we didn't see the children until dinner time! Site staff very helpful and friendly, and we only booked the day before going which I though was good for July. I used the laundry facilities towards the end of our visit and the area was very clean with ironing boards and dryers. Shop was small but seemed to have everything we needed, Charmouth was only 3 miles away so if you need anything more you could go there. We visited Lyme Regis, nice sandy and pebble beach. Charmouth was great for fossil hunting with a stoney and some sand beach. Had some great fish and chips there near the small museum. Parking all day was £3.50.
Also visited Weymouth, Chesil Beach. Found a very nice pub called The Smugglers Rest Inn at Osmington Mills, good food, parking then down the cliffs to the stoney beach with lots of rocks, great for crabbing, and actually swam in the sea (first time for me in about 25 years!) met some nice people there giving us good advice for different places to go, and a very handy tip for getting the sand off childrens feet (and other areas!) just use talc. On the way home visited Swanage, very sandy beach. And Studland owned by the National Trust parking is about £6 for the day but if you are NT members it's free. I must say thanks to UK Camping website for all of your useful handy tips and reviews which made our stay in Dorset fantastic.

We stayed with our three young children (one of whom has special needs), this was the first camping trip for everyone bar myself and it was fabulous! Has fuelled an expensive addiction. Spotless, friendly, gorgeous area. The surrounding area is perfect for a young family- Charmouth has a beach that is ideal, and it isn't dominated by lots of tacky shops, there are just the few essentials. For more excitement, Way mouth is close enough, as are lime bay and sea ton. Definitely will return, especially when the alds are old enough to be able to utilise the playground and poll more independently. Only thing is- if you have mobility issues, the site is on a steep (level pitches though) hill.

The shower/toilet facilities were spotless and could not be faulted. There is an excellent heated indoor pool, games room and a tennis court. The staff were very helpful too. There is a well stocked shop with fresh bread every day and a mobile fish 'n' chip kitchen frying each night. All fresh fish cooked to order. The views across the Dorset countryside were nice to wake up to. Excellent family site. We'll be back!

We spent a week at this site, first week of the school hols. The weather was very poor. The site was really nice, the toilets / showers were kept immaculately clean at all times and there seemed to be plenty of them, as I never had to wait.
The site had plenty to do games room, indoor pool (£2.00 per person), tennis, outdoor play area and giant draughts.
The pitches were all flat despite the site being on a steep hill with the reception at the top, so we had no problems with the rain running into the tent or anything like that.
You can walk to Charmouth Beach and to the village of Charmouth for a pint. All downhill - but a bit of a struggle on the way back !
Lyme Regis is a lovely place to visit we spent hours there crabbing in the harbour. It was lifeboat week when we were there, so it was good fun.

March 2005 We were disappointed with this site. Firstly, the toilet and shower blocks were not adequately cleaned and two of the three blocks were very dated. Secondly, the ads fail to mention that the site is practically adjacent to the busy dual carriageway of the A35 with thundering juggernauts passing by and our second night pitch suffered from this traffic noise. Finally, as motorhome owners, we had specifically pre-booked hardstanding as we tend to sink in wet soggy grass. Our first night pitch was island hardstanding which was only accessed over 10 ft of soggy wet grass. Miraculously, we made it to the pitch without sinking but the mud we churned up en route made all pedestrian excursions from the pitch a very messy experience. We booked and paid for 5 nights and only stayed 2. The staff were on the whole friendly.

July 2004 We spent a lovely week here. The site is spotless and there are lots of toilet blocks. The fishing is good John saw a 19lb carp caught. The shop is smaller than I would expect for such a large site but Tesco is not far away. The childrens play room looked good and the dog walk was the best I've seen. The only downside is its very hilly; the walk from the fishing at the bottom to the shop at top was enough to finish me off!

June 2004 I agree with almost every comment submitted by other members. My wife and I were also given a very cordial welcome and shown to to our high level area pitch, adjacent to the superb new amenities building, (reported to cost £100K,) by a site warden. We also had stunning views across the valley eastwards. As motorhome members we decided to use 'Shanks pony' to see the nearby beach which involved crossing the nearby busy road and walking downhill into Charmouth. Numerous fossil fossickers abounded on the beach in both directions hoping to find something cheaper than the locally discovered, and we thought expensive, samples. The return uphill journey was less exhilarating than the outward trip. The site is immaculately clean and relaxing, although we had excellent weather during our visit.

June 2004 I have just returned from Wood Farm after an excellent weekend there.
The site was brilliant right from the start. The greeting at reception could not have been nicer. After booking in we were escorted to our pitch by one of the many friendly staff on the site.
Luck must have been on our side as we had one the best pitches on the site which offered a truly stunning view of the valley which the site over looked. After we had set up the caravan and awning we decided to have a look round the site.
The site boasts a lovely pool and games room so is excellent it you have children. There is also a lovely walk down to the fishing lake so if you need to walk off the evening meal then this is the place to do it. We did after getting fish & chips from there own onsite Fish & Chip van which was excellent.
The site shop is well stocked and with lovely fresh bread which was I guess baked at a nearby bakery. My only little gripe here would be that the prices in the shop were a little steep. The pool was £1.50 a swim which I thought was very reasonable and something my girlfriend did on 2 occasions and really loved it.
The toilets are of a very high standard and kept really clean and had cubicles which had sinks in so you could really have a good wash all by yourself. The showers are very well designed and gave plenty of space to get changed and shower. Showers were also lovely and hot.
The staff were excellent and when we had friends come to the site to camp on the Saturday night they let them camp behind our caravan which they came and asked us if we would like that, which I thought was a very friendly touch.
The downside is the area does not offer much so children might get bored with the lack of things to see and do although for my girlfriend and I it was the perfect place to relax away from our hectic jobs
We had a truly excellent time at the site and you will be hard pushed to find an as friendly site.

April 2003 There's no doubt this is a very well maintained, clean, and well organised site. The pros are - lovely toilet/shower blocks - all touring pitches appear to have hardstanding - lovely scenery - nice facilities - swimming pool, young kids indoor and outdoor play areas, shop, mobile take-away - situated in the lovely south Dorset countryside
Cons - site is on the side of the hill with terracing, this can make it dangerous for kids on bikes (I think they're banned but we saw plenty riding around) - some pitches slope so take your chocks and blocks (make sure your brakes work properly as well) - not enough showers at busy periods (we were there over Easter), I had to queue and witnessed many others doing the same - the site is located next to a busy and fast 'ring road' type dual carriageway. I couldn't see any underpass so you would have to cross this road if you wanted to walk anywhere, also as you're on the side of a large steep hill you have to go up or down and back again! - a long walk uphill to the shop if you're at the bottom of the site although you could drive and park in the large adjacent carpark - not really within easy walking distance of a beach(closest is Charmouth - less than a 5 minute drive)
I hope I haven't put you off. If modern clean facilities and somewhere safe for the kids to play (young kids off bikes)are important to you, and you don't mind taking the car everytime you need to go out, then you'll be very happy with this site. If on the other hand you like a nice beach within walking distance, and don't want to use the car, stay elsewhere.
Nick
