Really enjoyed our stay here, site little on the 'tight' side but staff are very willing to help when asked. Toilets are cleaned very well, but tend to deteriorate as the day goes on.

The hotel on site has nice beer 'real ale', good overall, food basic and slightly expensive.

Sunshine on site limited after early evening by the dominating mountain.

Surrounding area a reasonable but not easy walk away, several good hostelries, food in town not tried by us but seems a little expensive. Good Tesco in town, although tight for parking. Petrol station there all self-serve and not at all user friendly.

Nice town worth a visit nearby Cricceith.

We would visit again.

We stayed at this campsite over the bank holiday weekend, its quite big. All the caravan pitches were hard standing and in my opinion too close together and the grass was not as short as it could have been,

The toilet / shower blocks were all clean but you have to pay 50p to get a shower and 20p to dry your hair also the only rubbish bin was at the site entrance.

The hotel on site did hot food and had sky tv, we could not get normal tv as reception was poor. Its not too far from the beach but you do have to go in your car to get to it and there was a Spar nearby,

The site wardens and checking in staff were very helpful - not a bad site to visit.

Fabulous site we stayed here for a week in July and then for the august bank Holiday.

We have two small kids 3 and 5 and a small dog. And there were plenty for the kids to do on site and I felt they were safe, as this is a family only site.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, though they were concerned that they didn't have the same pitch for us on our second visit - so we had to make do with the pitch next door (which was obviously fine). Water on most pitches, or shared between 4 back to back pitches. The pitches are close but we never really felt that we were on top of each other, it was friendly and on both occasions the other holiday makers were friendly and helpful.

The new toilet block has opened and the facilities are fabulous, the 'older' toilet blocks are equally as well decorated and all blocks are spotlessly clean. There are baby changing facilities in the blocks, a 20p hairdryer and a 20p socket in the new block for straighteners, tongs whatever? The showers are 50p and last forever, I have long hair and manage to wash (twice) condition my hair, have a wash and still have time to wonder whether it was worthwhile shaving my legs - if you had to take a little one in with you you would have time to have a good shower each - probably a good 10 mins.

I haven't used the launderette but it looks perfectly functional to me.

The bar is very handy though we've only used it once, they now offer bar meals and the restaurant will be fully open next season, there are family board games, safe darts for the little ones, and a snooker/pool table (cant tell the difference)

There is an area for older kids with video games etc looks noisy and well used - I stay away, no noise travelled beyond the doors. The kids tend to use their bikes a lot and trundle round (at break neck speed down the hills). Drivers are aware of this and take care whilst driving around.

A walk into town is not out of the question we walked out of the site turned left down the the beach area and then along the boat yards into porthmadog (this IS the long way round), it was a nice day and everyone got what they wanted - the dog got a walk, the kids played on the beach and had ice cream in Borthy Gest, we got to look at very expensive boats and wander round the shops (a bit of wishful thinking and necessity shopping)

The local brew is fab - Purple moose brewery sells the most fab bitters and ales. The Royal sportsman in town welcomes dogs and kids and serves lovely meals, the local cinema is cheap (£3.00 - £4.00 for a balcony seat)and old fashioned, having only one screen and a balcony, and just opposite there is a tescos for essential but try some of the local fayre its brilliant. Local curry house the passage to india is fantastic and reasonably priced (I'm trying to convince my husband its worth the 200 mile round trip for a take out)

Railways a bit expensive but worth the trip, take a walk along the cobb - just coz you can.

Black rock sands is just up the road you can drive on the sands (but if you get stuck its a £20.00 tow-out fee) £4.00 to get on beach (with car) free after 5pm gates shut at 8pm (beware the tides). Dogs only allowed in certain areas.

Back to the site - go there its got everything (except a good tv reception - it became quite a spectator sport watching everyone tweaking their dishes and aerials) we just take a dvd player and a radio - rarely used.

I use orange and my mobile signal is fab - hubby on t mobile not so good

Kids play area is fab - but no swings. There is a stream that runs through the site - the kids love it.

I think that about covers it.

Oh the shop has the absolute basics, quite a few camping/caravan spares and if you have the need for a major repair there is a fab caravan and camping shop in town. Out of the site turn left down hill to the lights (Past the passage to india on your right), straight overand then left at allsops the chippy and its just there on the right.

I really can't think of anything else - lovely site, lovely people, lovely town - go there and enjoy!

The campsite was very good we spent 3 nights at this site.

We had a bit of rain but the rest was sunny and hot weather

Great facilities, The toilet/shower blocks are spotless, new shower blocks is great and other older blocks are very clean.

Childrens park and bar with family room are great.

The Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Our Touring Caravan area was very big and we had our own water tap and an electric pitch.

Will be recommending this site to friends

Will be booking again

Me,my hubby and 3 years old daughter spent 3 nights at this site. Great facilities, new shower blocks is great and other older blocks are very clean. Childrens park and bar with family room are great especially with a young child!

Most of the pitches are on a slope but are well sheltered by trees. Lovely views.

Only a 2 min drive from Porthmadog.

Having recently come back from a fantastic stay on the site, I would recommend Tyddyn Llwyn to anyone.

Our tenting area was very big and we had our own water tap and paid to have an electric pitch which was brilliant.

The staff are very helpful and really made an effort to interact with my 5 children.

The children's play area was fantastic.

The toilet/shower block is spotlessly clean, always having toilet paper and soap readily available.

On a whole we feel Tyddyn Llwyn is an amazing site and are looking forward to our next stay there in the next few weeks.

Tyddyn Llwyn is a very nice site, it is located in a great spot only a couple of miles from Black Rock Sands.

The Staff are very friendly and helpful and can always be found in the well stocked shop that is open from 9 > 5.

The Toilets and Showers were fine, they were always clean, there are two and they are currently building a new shower block. The showers cost 50p, which I suppose is a little steep, however they did seem to last a long time.

We had a premium pitch which was fine for space, it had water and waste. Although Most pitches seems to have water to them.

There are other facilities like Childs play area, Launderette, Bar etc.

The only negatives I have are that some of the pitches do seem to quite close together. The site is in a bit of a bowl and so everyone really seems to struggle to get TV signals. I also couldn’t get a phone signal and only got one when in Porthmadog (I’m on O2, however my wife’s on voda was fine).

Other than the beach, there is plenty to do in the area including, crabbing in Porthmadog, a really good pony trekking centre next to the site, the festiniog railway to name a few.

There is a lovely walk straight from the campsite up the hill (Moel Y Gest), with amazing views at the top.

I for one have booked to return.

A great site with good facilities, we love the place and will be visiting again (this was our second visit to this site).

The pitches are good with water and electricity at the back of every pitch so if you have an onboard water tank you can fill it with a hosepipe and no need for a long cable.

The toilet blocks can be a little far from some pitches but that's not a big problem. There is a nice bar/hotel on the site for an evening out without having to drive back and a small shop that saves having to go.

Went to this site with our two little ones. The site is close to but not in Porthmadog, it is well positioned for touring Gwynedd. The staff were friendly even directing us to the best pitch. It is a little hilly but our pitch was pretty flat.
All the EHU pitches seemed flat. The showers were 50p but were hot and lasted long enough. The bins were located right at the entrance to the site, but I thought that this was a good idea as you won't see any people complaining about overflowing site bins.
There is a climbing frame for the kids but no swings or slides that my lot would have liked. One slight criticism was that one of the toilet blocks was a portacabin and was a little antiquated but perfectly functional.
There was a shop, bar, games room and family room. To be honest though we didn't use them as we were out most days on the beach, steam railway, Port Merion local castle etc etc. A good site in a good location which we would consider going to again in the future.

My sister stayed at this campsite quite recently and I popped into visit now and again.

I have decided to split the review into category.

Terrain - 2/5

It was very hilly and seemed hard to find a decent spot to camp, some people complained about water running into their tent.

Toilets / Showers - 1/5

Although it was peak season and there being 4 different blocks out of one of them 1 was decent. If only they were cleaned more often then perhaps the rating would be slightly higher. I did not like the flooring especially as it was wet everywhere.

Family Friendliness 5 / 5

This is where I found this sight to be a big plus, it is a family only site. Unlike Black Rock which is down the road this place seems quiet and friendly.

On site facilities 4 / 5

Laundrette, but was a bit of a walk away from where we were as well as the best toilets out of the others. Hotel on site, 4 toilet blocks, dog walking area, loads of trees, games area, play ground are all on site.

Location - 3 / 5

Porthmadoc is not that far away and the beach is within a mile.

Overall I would give this campsite 6 out of ten.

If the toilets would have been better and it being less hilly in parts I think it would gain an extra two marks.
