We have had a fantastic time at this site. There was a lot of rain but due to the slate hardstanding, no wet inside the awning and the drainage was excellent.
The toilets and shower block were very clean and well looked after. The site was also cleaned and tidied during the day and no litter to be found here.
All staff were very friendly. Whilst we were there we had a problem with our water heater and Lez (the guy who looks after everybody) even tried to help us solve the problem.
I could see that most of the tent pitches were on a slope although there were a few flat with electric hook up. The caravan pitches were very well catered for, all flat and room to park next to your van.
If you want a relaxing holiday this is a great place to do it or you can ramble up the hills from the site where you will find breath taking views over the town, green landscapes and bay.
There is a small shop, hotel and pub with a family room on site. We didn't go in but other people said it was ok. The playground was more for older kids, more of a large frame with no swings, which was a shame. There is however, a nice little stream running through the centre of the site which seemed to keep all children amused for hours!
Just down the road is the local spar, about a 15min walk, or you can go into Porthmadog Town.
Tyddyn Llwyn is on the same road as the beach where you can drive on with your car for a fee of £3. The local steam trains are a joy to travel on and very nostalgic. Portmerion, the set to the tv programme 'Prisoner' isn't far away. Probably about 20mins in the car. Well worth a visit but very hilly!
If you wish to stay here, it is advisable to book early.
All in all, a fab site and we will be going back.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this caravan site. We received a lovely greeting on arrival and were allocated a good hardstanding pitch. The site is set in beautiful surroundings, just down the road from Porthmadog town and only a five minute drive from a decent beach. The shop is well stocked and the small hotel on site have a family room which is stocked with a pool table and some board games and they have little activities such as quiz's with small prizes and bingo. Just enough activity at then end of a hectic day before bed. There is also a small video game area for children. We really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it to others. I must say though our nearest toilets were OK but very basic, and you do have to pay 50p for showers, which I feel is a little unfair when the showers aren't that great. On our last day I did discover a much nicer shower block where the showers were nicer so its worth exploring. There's a small play area for children on site, but the children we took with us enjoyed playing in the woodland on site and exploring the area just as much. I would recommend it to anyone, its peaceful enough for couples and has enough to entertain children too.
We had a great time crabbing at Porthmadog and can recommend the high ropes adventure near Betsy Cowed for children and adults. Avoid Jennies Eating House. We ordered the lasagne and no one could eat it (it seemed to be tomatoes and onions with an unknown topping - relatives who were also staying nearby complained about the charcoaled breakfast too.

We have spent many a weekend or bank holiday here. We would bring the jet ski set up the tents and have a great time. The owners are very friendly and always made us very welcome. Facilities are good, Pub, Shop and a children's play area. Close to the beach (5 mins in car or a nice 20 minute walk) Toilets are very clean Shower block has plenty of hot water We will return but next time in a caravan

Our first real camping holiday and we couldn't have chosen a better place.
On arrival we were given a warm welcome and directed to a slightly sloped area to pitch. The pitch site was great, with shade from the sun available from the trees.
Staff are friendly and helpful and there was a nice atmosphere in the bar. Please be aware that at the time of our stay that they did not do meals although Porthmadog is only down the hill.
Although not the most modern toilet facilities, they were clean and well presented.
On the whole a pleasant site in a good location to travel to some of the wonders of North Wales.

Absolutely ideal site!
Visited this site last year in a tent, and had a great stay despite the terrain being incredibly hilly. Which ever place you decide to pitch, you are likely to be sleeping on a slope!
This year, took a tourer. Our pitch (B6) was enormous, and really easy to manoeuvre into with our large continental van.Lovely spacious areas per pitch, with either grass or hardstanding. The staff are really friendly and helpful- they are a constant presence around and about the park, which is both reassuring and helpful!
The site shop is well stocked with fresh milk, eggs, bread etc and there is a games room and launderette at reception. There is also the facility to wash/flush out a boat/ jetski which is brilliant as we normally camp with the latter.
Two shower/ toilet blocks all year round are available, plus one extra during peak season.(50p per 8 mins of shower a little mean)
The children's playpark could do with a revamp, or a rethink, as they are basically just a few log frames, however this is my only criticism for a site that has a real holiday feel to it.
Traffic is normally heavy during high season into Porthmadog, however it is an easy walk into the town, and there is plenty to do, such as a walk around the beautiful harbour or along the Cob, or a ride on the steam railway.
With only a 5 min drive to the best beach in Wales - Black Rock Sands -or in Welsh Morfa Bychan - and with almost guaranteed sunshine with its' proximity to the Welsh West Coast, assuming we don't experience a summer like 2008, Definitely a site to try!

We visited this site twice during August 2008, initially for a weekend and then for 5 nghts after the August B/Hol weekend.
We went on the recommendation of friends who have a touring caravan.
Wanting EHU we were put on pitch C2 for the first weekend trip. The pitch was reasonably flat but not very big for our tent and car. Up to C9 are the EHU tent pitches and these all run along the main road into the touring area. Although not a road as such this bit of the park does get quite busy and there are some big caravans and motorhomes coming and going along this part, not that great with young children. Additionally C1,2 and 3 are very close to the gate leading out of the pitching area and to the bar and shop and down to the road, not at all suitable with young children.
The site itself is beautiful, not too comercialised and well looked after. The toilet blocks are not particularly modern and on our arrival weren't that clean, but we found out the regular cleans are done in the afternoons.
On our second visit we asked if we could pitch on one of the grass pitches on the lower area where mostly caravans etc are, we were initally told 'no' but after an email sent explaining the reasons why especially given we had seen tents in this area on our first visit we were told if we came after the B/holiday then we could. So we did. We now undrstand that with the exception of C1-9 all serviced pitches are going to become hardstanding and the site is very much gearing for caravans rather than tents.
That said its a lovely site and has a lot going for it, would we go again? Yes we would but I would still be vary wary with young children on pitches C1-9.

Seriously overpriced!
This site is big and caters more for caravans than tents. Virtually no level pitches unless you choose a serviced one and the nearest thing to level we did find killed off most of my pegs with the rocks.
The hotel/bar was more like a 1970s working mens club and the nearest toilet block was woefully inadequate for for the number of people at that end of the site, particularly with one of the showers being out of order for the full week.
The staff were all helpful and friendly but at five star prices I could afford to be as well.

Stayed here for 7 nights through till the Tues after the bank hol and all in all its a good site. Weather not too good and grass land sodden but you can't blame them for that. Had a fully serviced pitch which was loose slate chippings so it was ok for pitching in the wet weather. There is a hotel with a bar on the site and that was great. Had a couple of good nights in there over the weekend. Toilets could be better and for all of our 7 night stay one shower was 'temporarily out of order'. Yes would stay again and if you visit you must go to Borth Y Gest beach which is beautiful.

Just returned from 4 nights on this site, not a bad place to stay, very quiet during the week but can get a bit noisy at weekends with children running around as there is not much for them to do but run riot. There is a small play area & a games room which requires supervision as well as in the family room of the bar area, which is closed on a Thursday.
Tent pitches C1-C9 have electric hook-up & own water supply these are nice & level otherwise you take pot luck as to were you pitch your tent as there are approx 3 areas you can choose from two of which are on slopes with very little level ground. There are three toilet blocks on site only two were operational so for some of us there was a lengthy walk to use the amenities once reached they were clean & tidy and the showers which were hot & cost 50p.
Roads within the campsite are extremely hilly so not recommended if you have trouble walking this also includes the road down to Porthmadog which is about 20 minutes away, 5 by car. This is where you will find Tesco, Aldi & Lidl as well as several local shops.
Turn left out of the campsite & approx 2 minutes away is a lovely village called Borth Y Gest with lovely views out to PortMeirion and coastal walks round to a small secluded beach and beyond. Turn right and this will take you to Black Rock Sands 5 minutes by car (too far to walk) £3 at weekends to take you car onto the beach doesn't appear to be a charge during the week.
If you have a caravan/campervan the pitches are hardstanding or grass again with facilities.
We enjoyed our short stay here and would definitely be going back.

We have just returned from a lovely 4 night camping trip at this site.
The site is largely made up of hard standing full service pitches, a fair number of caravans that appeared to be there for the whole season, mobile homes (appeared to be privately owned), a few levelled camping pitches with hookup, then a few different sloped fields for tents. We were told to pick our own spot and found a lovely flat area sheltered by trees. It's good you can pitch anywhere as it is generally very sloped and it was a challenge to find a flat spot the size of our tent!
The facilities on site included:
- a well stocked shop with toys, sweets, basic provisions and camping supplies, ice block freezing for 25p, tourist information leaflets and folders of useful information put together by the campsite. Very friendly and helpful staff. We paid an extra £3 for late checkout (to be able to stay till 5pm rather than noon)- definitely worth to get an extra afternoon on site!
- a games room (which appeared to have a pool table and arcade games but we didn't actually go in it)
- a reasonably priced bar including family room
- a childrens play area
- Two open toilet blocks (plus an older tattier looking portacabin which was closed)
- plenty of water taps dotted arund the site
The toilet blocks were very clean and well cared for. The block we used had 2 dishwashing sinks undercover outside, then in the ladies were 4 toilets, 3 sinks, 3 showers, a baby changing table and hairdryer (20p). The showers are 50p, hot and last a good while. However, it is just a shower cubical - there is no where to put your clothes apart from the 1 peg on the back of the door which gets splashed as there is no partion or curtain, bench etc, so be sure to bring a bag for your stuff - I tried all three and according my other half they're just the same for men and women. Also the showers are still push button despite paying 50p. You can't adjust the temperature and having to keep pushing the button is a bit annoying, I think.
The site is ideally located for access to Porthmadog- about 15 minute walk from the site. We were staying here for a wedding on the Ffestiniog Railway and easily and safely walked there and then back afterwards. I would highly recommend the Spooners pub on the railway platform, serving great local real ales. Black Rock Sands beach is a short drive away and as you can drive onto the beach, ideal for a sunny day.
Directly behind the site is Moel-y-gest hill which overlooks the area. Although steep and rocky in places it's a relatively quick walk with amazing views of Criccieth Castle, Black Rock beach, Porthmadog, over the Cob and estury and in the distance Harlech castle and even Snowdon. Just be warned that the paths are through bracken so if it's been wet you will get soaked and will need shoes with good grip!
A fanastic site well looked after and obviously the owners have attention to detail - highly recommended. From previous experience I would say it's worth being just this little further from the sea in order to get the high standard of faciliites and in my opinion more considerate guests than the beach side sites.
