Well kept site even though extremely large site and lovely new shower block. In beautiful location but.

Extremely unlevel pitches. Only the ehu pitches are flat also pitches not marked (hence inconsiderate family pitched guy rope to guy rope)

Picked this site because advertised 11pm curfew which is not enforced. Still extremely noisy after midnight every night. And first three nights were before most schools had broken up.

Shop no sliced bread? Lady watched me as I looked around felt very uneasy this was also mention by other campers.

Pub very clean. But found landlady very unwelcoming. Went in with son for drink and game of pool and was told for patrons only??? Couldn't get on pool table as one family hogged it perhaps a chalkboard needed for list for unconsiderates. Went back next night to same for patrons only comment. So left and used the pool table in kids game room for rest of stay and needless to say didn't use pub again. She seemed OK with families with young children but not single mums with pre teen son.

Lots of midges! so go prepared.

Do think we will use again.

I spent 15 lovely nights at this site.

Although a families and couples site they will not turn away a lone ranger on foot.

The facilities have to be seen to be believed.

All modern, spotlessly clean, 3 separate blocks.

Bar, lounge, families room.

Recently built adventure playground.

A secluded spot 1km from Porthmadog beneath

Moel-y-Gest, a miniature Snowdon, a not too difficult climb by a path from the site.

The town is the home of the Ffestiniog and the Welsh Highland Railways. The Welsh Coast Path passes through.

Buses run to the starts of the tracks up Snowdon.

Plenty of villages and beaches

My only criticism? I could not find any thing to criticise.

Had a lovely stay at this site. I am told the facilities are very good but didn't use them ourselves. We received a friendly welcome and were directed to our pitch. It is quite a large site but somehow didn't feel too big. The warden gave us a sketch map of the way into Borth y Gest and Porthmadog. Borth y Gest is lovely, quite a walk to get to the nicer beaches along a cliff path but worth it. The last little bit to get onto the beach is a bit steep and there is only a rope hand 'rail' to hold onto. Porthmadog is always busy. The walk on the Cob is beautiful, especially looking towards the mountains. Beware the price of icecream from the steam train station shop £1. 80 for a Magnum is rather steep! Check the price before you buy! Lots to do and look at in the area. We would use the site again if we were staying in this area although we do try and stay at new sites just to keep life interesting. We do recommend you give this one a try.

We stayed here in the October half term but as Wales didn't break up until the week later it was near enough empty, we used this site as a base for our holiday as we spent most of our time away, there is a park on site which my daughter loved as it had the monkeys bars on it, the toilets and showers were lovely and clean, the ladies in the reception/shop were very friendly. We would consider returning to this site again maybe in season to try there restaurant and see what the entertainment is like.

What a lovely site, clean with lovely views of the mountain.

We had a friendly welcome and was shown to our hard standing pitch, this had electric a water tap and waste water point, a small hedge surrounded our area.

The site has areas for statics, static tourers/tents set away from the touring pitches, we liked this idea.

The site has a shop and a Restaurant this is handy but we never used them as the town was only a short drive or a twenty minute walk, it is a bit up/down hill each way so not recommended if you have a job walking.

The toilet blocks were very good and always clean.

Porthmadoc is a nice town with a number of shops also the attraction of the three steam railways, so if the weather is wet you always have something to do. We had record rainfall over two days, but this didn't spoil our stay.

The only poor point for us was the waste and recycling bins, just one point and this was a distance from the touring area's, this didn't bother us to much as we dropped them off as we went out of the site.

We would visit this site again if we are in the area again.

What a beautiful site. Fabulous location at the foot of the mountain. On-site shop and pub - we didn't use either so can't comment.

Lots of water taps between pitches. Good flat pitches for caravans etc - but the tent area was on a bit of a slope.

Showers etc were good - but I object to paying 50p. However the awning was free - so its swings and roundabouts.

Porthmadog has some local shops and a decent Tesco with a petrol station.

Surrounding scenery is just sublime.

Stayed on this site August 2011 & 2012 well maintained, clean with lovely new toilet block, could however do with a refurbishment in the other older toilet block, disagree with having to pay 50p to use the showers, especially as they are timed, expensive if you have a few kids.

Pub on site selling food, although did not eat there, was not always busy.

Good location for the many beaches & the attractions that the area has to offer.

A really nice, clean site with friendly staff and excellent facilities. I was a bit miffed about the 50p shower charge but I suppose these modern facilities need to pay there way.

Location wise you cant ask for better, Porthmadog is a nice town with plenty of gift shops and stores to browse with a tesco for your shopping needs (turn right out the campsite gate for a spar and chippy with hassle free parking 5 mins away). In north Wales you are only ever 20-30mins away from something new. You have to spare 2 hours to go up the big hill that shadows the site, the view is amazing.

The kids playground was excellent and kept them out of mischief for hours. The bar has a friendly atmosphere with free games for the kids in the family room. The food menu however is overpriced and restricted. Reception staff couldn't have been more helpful with suggestions for days out.

My only gripe with this campsite was after 11pm it was like a library, silence is the order of the day! I fully understand that it is a family site and with two kids myself, appreciate the values they promote but it ruins the atmosphere when security are watching your every move and silencing any party spirit.

I would recommend this site to anyone but because of the over-bearing demand for silence I can only give them 7/10 overall

Pleasant staff. Site very hilly, poor dog walk, no dog poo bins.

First site we have been to where you paid to use the showers and the hairdryer, could do with a spruce up.

Please be aware, yes you can walk to Porthmadog but it is quite a steep climb on the way back.

Didn't use the bar as dogs weren't allowed in and it was too wet to sit outside.

We did take the dogs on the railway which was great.

This was quite a large site and a bit noisy for us being 2 adults who had no children with us. I believe a few people did get told off by the warden late at night for being loud which is good thing as it shows they are keeping an eye on everyone.

Did not use the facilities so cant comment. The clubhouse was a bonus to keep the children entertained

It was great to get to the town centre, about a 20 minute walk, but a bit hilly for those who have difficulty walking.
