We have been to waldegraves on more than one occasion and have used trailer tents and touring caravans on pitches and we have found staff to be polite and helpful on check in and around the park. Going back this Easter also. Showers / toilets are kept clean, pitches are a nice size hedged borders to most,
Price includes up to 4 people then additional charge for extra people up to 6 max
Sometimes can be difficult to locate pitches if a first timer as half of the pitch numbers have been broken off over the years, this could be easily fixed by staff replacing them, at times the water supplies have been a mere trickle but this is due to being on mersea island I have been told and not a fault, just where demand gets high at certain times and soon comes back. Shop is well supplied and reasonable prices too, lovely idea to supply hot chicken and some hot foods. Clubhouse is lovely, good entertainment, the kids have lots of fun and have their own fun time with sammie the seagul and pals, gets very busy with standing room only. The restaurant is lovely. Have not used the take away service. Beach kept clean. Pool is lovely can get very busy peak times and then lifeguards operate a band system where you get 45 mins and then have to leave, which we have found to be fair for everyone, also no food and drink to be consumed around the pool area.
Nice views from most pitches and we have been lucky enough to have made friends with lots of fellow campers.
All in all we have found waldegraves a relaxed campsite, it can be noisy at times but we have found if you cant beat em join em, that's why we keep returning, also plenty of room for the kids to stretch their legs and have fun.
Only gripe I have ( be it a small one ) is extra charge for awning, even though pitch size you have is same regardless. Seems a bit mingy to charge extra £4 a night for this but seems to be the norm with other sites nowadays.

Had a lovely weekend on this site. The pitches were very large, all fully serviced. The toilet block and shower block were both immaculately clean. The shower block also had plug sockets near the mirrors for your appliances. There was direct access onto the beach from the site and we enjoyed some fabulous walks with the dogs at sunset. At low season like this we felt like we were on a desert island. Shop was well stocked. Didn't use the bar or restaurant but the menu looked very reasonable. If you stay on Mersea Island you shouldn't miss trying out the Company Shed recommended by The Times food critic. Its a seafood lovers heaven and we shared a platter for £8.50 a head which was superb.

Just returned from our first ever family camping night, and chose this site mainly because of the previous reviews, and recommendation.
Couldn't have gone better (glorious September sunshine helped!) Friendly check-in (phoned day before to book) and camp very nice. We were on front field (nearest reception/clubhouse, etc.) and this field of 22 pitches was full. Water and Electric hook-up on each pitch was good (even though we haven't ventured into electrics yet!)
Toilets/showers/washing up areas all clean/tidy and wholesome. 'Heated' outdoor pool was a real treat. Couldn't get them out!
Shop was well stocked. Kids play area good, and bars/clubs looked good even though we didn't need to use them. Great first night to get us in the mood, and convince the rest of the family. Will come back. Noise from club house not too bad. Can imagine this park heaving in the summer. Short walk to the shingle beach a treat with sunset on cue.

Fantastic site clean and large pitches. Shop was well stocked and very reasonable priced. Right on the coast and had great views of the sunset. The showers and toilets were clean but did get busy in rush hour. Takeaway food was great and the restaurant looked good but we did not use it. Only thing missing on the site is an under 5 play area, but you cannot have everything can you?

Fantastic site lots for kids to do they loved the pool although they said it was freezing when you first got in. Was impressed that each tent had its own electric hook up and own water tap. Shop and clubs were very good. Only fault were showers, quite dirty with lots of wet grass in cubicles, and washing up area - the taps were very very slow took forever. Also of a night come 6ish we were bitten alive my mozzies so remember to take a spray. All in all we had a great stay and will be returning.

Very poor site toilets dirty, pitches not checked had to clear dog mess and rubbish of ours when we arrived. Noisy and the eleven at night noise rule is ignored. Restaurant very good, good food well priced, and a good pitch and putt pitch and fishing lakes

We've just returned from this site after a heaving bank holiday weekend there with friends, one family of which have stayed on a few extra days. We've been to a few sites now and know what we're looking for and couldn't fault the facilities here.
The push button showers are a bit awkward as they go off immediately you take you're finger off, but there were no queues whenever we went. Plug sockets for hairdryers/ straighteners are in the lower block of toilets. The pressure in the top block of facilities this weekend was a mere dribble. Kept clean and there was always a member of staff around if you needed anything. Plenty of washing up areas although the plugs you can get don't fit the plugholes!
Good takeaway, didn't try the restaurant as it was too busy, but friends had a nice meal there. Great pool with a fair system of coloured wristbands so it didn't get too busy. Didn't go in the club as it was heaving, but it all looked spic and span! Good little shop, although in keeping with every other campsite we've been to, no fresh fruit or veg. The 10 children of various ages we all had between us had a whale of a time in the parks, crabbing down at the beach, and in the games room. There were also regular games of cricket and rounders and plenty of room to play.
My only moan would be that it is the noisiest campsite we've been too. Everybody actually had to sign a slip saying they would be quiet after 11 pm or would be asked to leave - I'm surprised there was anybody left near us the following morning as the noise levels well into the early hours were well above what could be considered acceptable.
Having said that we would definitely return, possible to one of the pitches around the boating lake with no hook-up as they looked really nice. Our field, the top one, was in regimented rows with numbered pitches.
Summary: Great site not too far from home, great facilities, would recommend and return.

Just got home from this site. Was very happy with everything owners very friendly and run a lovely little shop and cafe that serves an excellent breakfast for £3.00 very good value. The shop and cafe are only open at certain times. Pitches nice and level and some good fishing to be had.Basic site very clean toilets and showers with very hot water. Will definitely visit again lovely place to totally unwind. We never really noticed the traffic noise we were pitched on no 44 so was quite close to the road and it was bank hol weekend. I suggest a few tipples before bed he he.

After reading other reviews we were very let down by the state of the toilets and showers mainly the ladies, which never seemed to be cleaned, and at times were almost unusable. When we arrived we were told where our pitch was but given no other information, when we got to our pitch we had to clean up the dog mess and other rubbish before we could set up. The site was very noisy and the quite time after 11 o'clock was totally ignored, some night the music kept you awake and till after 1.30. We were surrounded by commercial vehicle's which the brochure states are not allowed on site, in general the site was dirty and the upkeep is poor. On the good side the restaurant was very good as was the bar, but again the dirty toilets let them down. Pitch and put good value for money and fishing ok. Some areas are to crowded with units packed in. Maybe we were unlucky as it was August and the site very busy

Just arrived back from a 2 night stay with my wife and daughter.
We really enjoyed it, can't fault it, security barriers on arrival, £10.00 deposit, serviced pitch with water included also adjacent to pitch, 18 hole pitch and putt, driving range, clean shower and toilet blocks, 3 small lakes well stocked with carp, when we were there we saw lots being caught, 2 to double figures.
Entertainment in the clubhouse is the usual set up, Kids / Adults karaoke etc.,
Restaurant on site was good and fairly priced with friendly staff, kids amusements and play area looked clean.
Beach is right next to the camp site, with shingle mainly, but seemed clean.
Outdoor pool was by allocated time slots, but the water is COLD.
All in all, great for a short break and great value for money.
Only one disappointment.
I wish I had taken my fishing rods :-)
