Just returned from a visit with two children. Nice spacious pitch with ehu and water for each pitch. Well stocked shop and nice food at restaurant - shame it shut at 2pm. Clean clubhouse with good entertainment for the children. Easy access to the beach. Two small play areas for the children with climbing frames. The downside - children were really looking forward to using the pool - but it was freezing cold and could only stand 5 minutes before turning blue! Toilets and showers are looking tired and could do with a good scrub.

Just returned from our 1st camping trip with the family. We chose this site as it was just 40 minutes from home. The pitches are all well marked out and spacious. Each pitch had a tap with drinking water and an electric hook up point. The field we were on had a new shower and toilet block so were very clean and well apointed - the water in the showers was very hot. There was also an outside washing up area with plenty of sinks. The swimming pool was like getting into a bath which was fortunate as the weather was a bit chilly. Only negative point was that the laundry closed at 3.30pm and the pool at 5pm so drying your towels in the tumble has to wait - not a huge problem. We will definitely return.

This was our first camping trip ever so we decided to on this site as it was only an hour away. We have a four year old daughter and a dog, both are well catered for.
It was fantastic and we could not of wanted better from a site (apart from the weather!). The showers/toilets were clean and with hot water. The facilities around the site were great, including the dog area which was a massive field that he could run off the lead.
The site is big enough to wander around and explore but not overloaded with vans & tents.
Would definatly add this to a list to go back to and would even consider longer than a weekend.

Second visit to this site this year, the new camping shop seems to be filling up nicely and the grocery shop is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beer is still fairly dear but the new entertainer (funny and lively) is a welcome improvement.
Plenty of 'big' carp in the lakes, just wish I could catch a few of them! We will be going back I am sure.

Dpent a midweek break and thoroughly enjoyed it pitch we had was taken when we got there (reseption told us it was empty) we were pitched on the caravan club field with electric all the room u wanted and nearly empty field for the kids as no one set up in the middle.
Toilet next to us was a bit grotty but it was not the main one shower block and main toilet kept clean as was the site. Swimming pool was great with timed sessions so was nether to crowded. Fishing lakes were ok but too many kids running around for my liking. Shop well stocked and not too dear (fresh rolls and croissants lovely)
Used restaurant 1 night nice food and great portions reasonably priced

Camping + fishing shop well stocked but if going sea fishing dont expect any bait as they only sell maggots (only grumble really as they advertise shop as selling all your sea fishing needs). Beach is sandy/pebbles and muddy when tide goes out but safe to swim in when in
will definately go back next year

Really liked this site. Kids loved it. Showers clean, spacious and not crowded. Plenty of space. Lovely pool and reasonable prices all round. Nice area. Great Zoo in Colchester

Down points - pool shut a bit too early - 5pm i think! Entertainment in bar a bit dated. Pub singer did only 60's and 70's stuff and was proud of it! Even my mum has moved on since then!!!

First visit to Site after finding it through your website.
Found the Staff very helpfull and the facillities were great .Not too crowded where we were sited even though it was a Bank Holiday.
Pool was well used and the fishing in there 4 lakes was superb for myself and my 10 yr old grandson
Had a great time and on leaving booked the same pitch for another weekend later on GREAT

Thaought I had booked (late with no deposit) but on checking my big book I had to grovel. The reception remained patient throughout and although fully booked they fitted me in the 'Caravan and Camping' field with hook up. Overall a good site -pool, 18 yes 18 hole pitch and putt + driving range-reasonable club although drinks dear with entertainment FOC. Plenty of play space for kids and only yards from sandy pebbley beach. Sit in and take away food. Shower and toilet block good and well maintained. Industry at entrance could put you off but good well stock accessory shop for those little bits. Overall a very enjoyable stay, staff friendly and helpfull when ice broken. Down side not enough done to keep youths out of trouble and poor vigilance on dog fouling + litter control could be better & would benefit all.
