Nice site, spectacular views, worth a visit.
Reasonable facilities, however shower light was broken so couldn't see to wash.
Nothing much stocked in the shop either.
Clubhouse said open every day but Sunday, this was a Monday, we waited for 8pm opening, and nothing happened, disappointing.
Very close to next pitch, but not too much of a problem.

Just returned from Loch ness. The site has a wonderful setting we camped right on the shore with wonderful views.
We watched the sun rise in the morning and the rain coming in over the hills.
The drive through the highlands was lovely even through the rain.
Pros. Wonderful views
Sweet little beach
Bar on site (but no meals served as the chef had broken arm)
Cons .Showers need updating only one shower per block and only 3 blocks(and one out of order)
No dog walks and can not take the dogs on the small beach and can not walk on site .We had to walk our dogs on a very small foot path on a very busy main road
Traffic noise from the road
All in all we are glad we when to loch ness but this site is more of a one night stop over
Oh and we did think we spotted nessie untill we realised this was someone in a small boat ha ha

This used to be one of my favourite sites, lovely views. Bob the owner is brilliant very helpful, but the downside is all the grass has been covered with grey stones and tarmac. Still lovely views give it a go. The greyness might not affect others

We did a tour of the UK and only stayed one night on Loch Ness. The owners wouldn't take a reservation for one night but assured us they would squeeze us in. They were very nice and accomodating and we ended up with a beautiful pitch. There wasn't a lot for the children other than fishing, pitching stones into the water and fighting off the midgies but the views were spectacular! The bathrooms were very clean and the entire site was very well maintained. Will definitely come back!

I just wanted to do an up-to-date review of this campsite. This site has to be set in one of the most enviable locations in the UK. Right on the bank of Loch Ness with a view of the hillsides opposite that changes minute by minute with the weather and available light. The staff were friendly and pleasant, and the owner Bob was a friendly and charming host. They only do Caravans/Campers and statics. THere are no pitches for tents. There was one family next to us with a trailer tent but the gravel was starting to wear through the groundsheet in places. Please note that some of the pitches are on a slope. The bar/restaurant is a nice location which seems to be underused - the meals are fantastic and great value for money. The menu is varied and delicious. They put on occasional entertainment as well as karaoke and quiz nights. Take time to give them a visit as you will enjoy it.
The only thing that I can say against this site is the shower facilities. The cubicles are fairly narrow and there is no allowance for disabled or elderly guests. There is a little plastic stool at the shower, but this is not much use. When you step out of the shower you are on wet tiles, this and the narrowness of the cubicle means that getting dressed again is an unpleasant struggle. There is a mop outside the cubicle to allow you to freshen the floor for anyone following you and although the men seem to know how to use it, my wife complained that the ladies was always sodden and muddy because none of them mopped the floor. I would suggest that what might have seemed acceptable when they built the toilet blocks is not acceptable now and that they should put a little thought into this most necessary of site facilities. After all, they didn't pull punches when they built the Pub!
Having said all that, I would visit this site again and look forward to doing so. Waking up to that lovely view is what will keep me coming back for more.

Before I start my review the first thing I should say is: the owners are wonderful people, extremely friendly and would do anything for anyone.
The site? Awful.
The pictures on the website are very misleading, there is no longer a big play area for children but a little tiny park for small children. The whole site is gravel with a tarmac small road down the middle.
The site is just off the road, which runs above the site. The site is long with two rows of tourers / motorhomes / trailer tents. The pitches are big and separted by logs, which a nice idea. But not very private. Sorry can't quite explain but for some reason felt very open.
There are 3 toilet blocks ranging from 2 to 3 toilets and one shower in each block. One block didn't have hot water at the time. They were not very clean and in the afternoon always ran out of toilet paper, which was not replaced until cleaning time the following morning.
I found the laundry expensive, the tumble dryer was 70p for just less than 15 minutes. 20p for the iron that ran for less than the tumble dryer.
There were views over loch ness and free fishing. But to be honest we didn't venture too far from the caravan at night due to the midges, I have never seen so many midges ever.
The bar area was pleasant. We didn't have a meal as they only serve meals between 6.30pm til 8pm.
The site is fairly central to Fort Augusta, a lovely little town with a campsite there.
We were meant to stay at this site for 5 nights but only managed 3. It felt like being in a fishbowl and there was nothing for the kids to do. Shame as the pictures looked great.

Went to this site to see the New Year in and it was great! Our motorhome was literally on the edge of the Loch which was lucky because we booked late. They held a Hogmanay Party for a few pounds which was fab and we met some really nice people. Bob is a lovely host, and introduced us to the fantastic 'Still Game' and we have now acquired the whole series! Lots to do here with Fort Augusta a pretty village a 5 minute drive down the road and Inverness a 30 minute drive. Fort William is about 45 minutes away. The site itself has clean, hot showers and fabulous views right on the edge of the loch. Definately going back this year and we hope to go back for Hogmanay 2007!

We visited this site in summer last year,we enjoyed our stay - but beware the midges who just love the humid evenings by the lochside! The site is well kept and has plenty play areas, campers shelters etc for the kids. There is a well stocked bar and restaurant which serves great food. The bar also has pool tables which kept our kids amused. The only thing we didn't like was trying to pitch our tent -the ground is extremely hard and we lost a few pegs.It had been a long dry spell though. P.S. We were going to return this year but found out it no longer accepts tents - ah well!

Just returned from this site and so we thought we would drop in the review whilst it was fresh in our minds. We will try and cover items of interest to the undecided amongst you that may sway your decision to take on the long drive up there. Route : For us in Lincolnshire it was a daunting 480 miles, but the route is worthy of a mention. We took the A9 from Edinburgh on the way up as we were advised to do so by a driver. That took us 8 and a quarter hours with one stop for food. On the way back though we chose the A82 to see if it was any better, let us tell you it was a nightmare. As a caravan owner it did wrankle that drivers ignored large queues building up behind their units on this very twisty road. Then with Glasgow being gridlocked it turned into a 9 and a half hour grind. So if you need a hassle free route up then go A9 from Edinburgh and the A82 from Inverness to the site. The Site : Warm welcome on arrival by the owners and all staff we met. Escorted down to our reserved pitch promptly and all facilities pointed out. The site has three toilet blocks accessed by a key ( £5 deposit ). Each block has three loos , one shower , three sinks with mirrors and a free hairdryer. Soap for handwashing was in all the blocks I visited during the week. Toilet blocks were always clean thanks to the hardworking staff, seen as late as 11pm tidying up. Hot water lasted up to 8:30ish but soon warmed up again for the patient. The site was full at the time of this review.
At one end of each block is the dishwashing area with two sinks and drainers, this facility is under cover. At the other end of each block are the camping shelters. These are open rooms with no doors or glazing to the windows. Invaluable spaces with picnic benches and stone slabs for stoves , all the shelters have great views over the loch. In bad weather these rooms are holiday savers for campers. The tent pitches were were right next to the loch side and were slightly sloping. Most pitches were sparsely grassed and some had bark chippings down as ground coverage. The ground was very hard and stout metal pegs are advisable. The caravan pitches I saw were more sloping so bring your ramps and chocks with you. The close proximity of the Loch is a boon to the fishermen amongst you, fishing on site is free or £10 a day if you hire the rod from Bob the owner.
There is a small laundry on site, with two sinks, one washer and two dryers. The wash was £2.50 and dry was 20p for a spin dry or 60p for the large tumble dryer. Whirligigs were the free option for outdoor drying. The large one took our sleeping bags and quilts during the week.
The site has a freezer for food or ice packs and is located in the dishwashing area next to reception. Every morning at 9:10am a mobile shop calls with produce from the local shop, the prices were not different at all from the shop. Focal point of the site at night is the Clubhouse. It is in two parts with a restaurant and bar. The small restaurant has about a dozen tables and serves reasonable food from about £5.50 for adults and from about £3 for children's meals. The bar was underused and because of that is quiet, two adult pool tables and one for under 14's. A jukebox delivers the vibes if the people are paying or a sound system operates from behind the bar. The infrequent entertainment went down well and we were surprised that it was only once a week during our stay.
Local Area: If you are short of things to do at this site then you may want to give up and do something else. The nearest town is Invermoriston and is one and a quarter miles away by road. It can also by reached by the Great Glen Way which can be accessed by a path directly opposite the site entrance. Fort Augustus is 6 miles away in one direction and Drumnadrochit is 12 miles away in the other. For big shopping and more tourism Inverness is 24 miles away. The options are varied in the local area and include walking, climbing, sailing, cycling, boat trips and of course fishing. Summary: There may well be other sites around the Loch but none of them will be on the very edge of it. With no problems worthy of a mention the only minor hurdle a potential camper will face is the distance from the south of the country to this site. Midges are present but not a worry and after application of a quality repellent they will not bother you. There is the odd flypast by the military but just like the nearby traffic noise from the nearby A82 it did not bother us. Either you think you will like this site or whether you think you won't like this site you are right.
