Arrived on site and the entrance was very narrow but negotiable and would not like to have too many caravans to pass by to get into the site. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful helping us to pitch our van so we could have the fantastic view of the loch out our window and again helping us turn the van at the end of our stay so we could hitch-up. The view is spectacular and there are things to do in the nearby area - Drumnadrochit has the loch ness exhibition which is very reasonably priced and also Urquhart Castle is well worth the visit. Fort Augustus is a nice town also. The toilets were clean as were the showers - we did not have a problem in waiting for them when we were there. The site has a mobile shop which is very limited but there is a choice of two stores in Fort Augustus. There is also a bar and restaurant on site but we did not use these, my husband had a look and it was fairly busy and seemed ok. This campsite has a lovely location and was well maintained - I have to make a comment relating to the condition of the grass - at time of year I have rarely been to a site which is not affected by the constant use of tents killing the grass below and any attempt by the owners to stop the ground from becoming a mud hole is to be commended. I would return again when we do another tour if the highlands but do not feel we would be able to amuse ourselves and our kids here for more than a few days.

Located amidst the beautiful scenery surrounding Loch Ness this campsite is truly beautiful. Our stay was during the last week of July and probably the busiest week of the year with the owners regularly turning people away. The weather was brilliant which made the whole time (4 nights) completely worth while. Fort Augustas Provides the large nearby facility's including a 'Spar' shop that don't sell newspaper's, while Invermorrison provides a pub, cafe and local shop. RAF Aircraft could prove to be a problem though I only heard them in the afternoon and also found it quite spectacular. The main dis-advantage for us was our tent was pitched on gravel THERE are grass pitches Available and we probably ended up here to to the fact the site was full! The showers were a bit hit and miss sometimes Hot sometimes cold and limited in number. There are dedicated sites along the main track for rubbish and drinking water the one closest to us was not working. There is a playground for children which is enclosed and has a bark floor covering. Though I did not use electric hook up they appeared to be limited in number and I suspect booking is advisable. I would recommend this site to anyone either visiting Loch Ness or the highlands.
Advantages:
1 Free Fishing 2 20 Min's from the loch ness exhibition center's 3 Beautiful Scenery 4 Helpful Owners 5 On site Bar/Restaurant
Dis-advantages
1 Hard ground in places could be unsuitable for tents 2 very narrow site 3 next to a busy main road 4 Although Pleasant, toilet blocks could be better 5 On site shop has limited stock.
I Hope my review Helps.

Although this was a very friendly site and no complaints there, we were disappointed in the 'tiredness' of the site. The picnic benches were rotten and certainly needed refurbishing. The toilets were very clean but with only one shower in the toilet block it could mean a long wait. We still use our caravan and have done for 15 years and this was a life time dream trip on our Goldwing so we were also disappointed in the size of the pitch, our tent had to be pegged down over the next pitch, it is only a 6 birth tent, we put our trailer inside one end and sleep in the other. It was one of the dearest sites, although we assume you are paying for the 'view'

We stayed here August 2006. Myself, husband and 3 children had a wonderful welcome from the owner. The views were wonderful, it was great waking up in the morning with a marvelous view of Loch Ness. We originally booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 3 nights. Will be returning to this site again this year.

We have just come back from 2 weeks on this site. Yes, the view is fantastic and the owners and staff very friendly. However, we were disappointed about the pitch. There is very little grass on any of the pitches, and in places bark chippings have been used to cover the mud. Also the size of the pitches are not very generous, and you are very close to your neighbour. Their website state there is a shop on site, this is no longer the case. A mobile shop apparently calls each morning, but not every morning while we were there. There is a shop 1 mile away for basic bread and milk, Fort Augustus has more options and is a 10 mile round trip. The bar area is pleasant, but we were never sure if it would be open, the meals in the restaurant are basic - with chips! We did eventually enjoy ourselves (when the weather improved!), but would only recommend this site for motor-homes and caravans. It was very much a one and two night stop over while we were there, so our teenagers weren't able to make friends with others. It is unusual for us to return to anywhere, this site is not the exception.

Gorgeous scenery, right on the loch front. Nearest toilet block was being refurbished whilst I was there so it resulted in a fair walk to the next one.
I can't fault the helpfulness of all staff there, they made me feel very welcome. The toilet blocks let the site down for me - three of them covering the mile long loch view, with only two stalls and one shower in each of the gents.
Beautiful location, really friendly owner and staff, average priced bar and good atmosphere

Arriving in the afternoon, the manager made an effort to welcome us very friendly. He gave us a nice, level and hard standing on the waterfront with a stunning view over the Loch. We decided to stay for two nights when we encountered such hospitabillity and good humour in the restaurant / pub. Fishing from shore in rather shallow water makes it neccesarry to choose your lure well; I lost a few in the lure graveyard right off from the fish-pitches. Half floating or floats would be recommended. Midges were there but ot to much as we also had the bbq lighted which gave of a little smoke. Nice handycraft (leather and antler) shop within few miles. We will defenitely return the this site on our next visit to Scotland.

After a journey of 450 miles,I was looking forward to a nice holiday, I was`nt dissapointed. On arrival I was greeted by the friendly owner, who guided me to my pitch, and then helped me to push my caravan forwards on to the pitch, which was on the edge of the loch. Therefore every morning when we opened the blinds, we were greetd by the sight of Loch Ness, what a brilliant way to start the day.
The clubhouse was well used and had entertainment on a regular basis, the showers were spotless with a plentiful supply of hot water. I would recommend to anyone that visits this part of Scotland to go armed with midgie repellant and USE IT. But I have to say that in 13 years of caravanning, this was my most enjoyable 2 weeks, and I shall certainly return to the Highlands on a regular basis. It might be a long drive but it is worth it, and for a good part of the journey one is travelling through scenery that is breath taking

August 2005 Had an overnight stay in August. Owners very helpful especially as we didn't arrive until 10.00pm. Only stopped for one night as the midges were terrible and it was a very narrow site, near the water and wasn't that suitable for young children. The site has hook ups and a basic toilet block.

August 2005 A wonderful location with views of Loch Ness that are second to none. Just a short drive from the beautiful town of Fort Augustus where there are lovely places to eat and drink. RAF planes fly over a few times a day and can be very loud, although I found them to be a spectacular sight also. Only downfalls are the midges that can become quite intolerable, and ticks are a problem if you bring your dog.
