April 2004 After arriving late on this site, the warden (quite rightly as it turned out) asked us to park in the late arrivals area by the reception. No problems, all services available. Upon paying, and having a chat the next morning, we were just asked to go find a spot that we liked, and to come back, tell the warden the pitch number and get a gate key. so laidback on this site, it was a real pleasure. There are loads of walks in the area, not being too far from either the coast or the fells. The site itself is set among mature woodland, and the setting is superb. Formerly a gunpowder mill, there are still the remains of many buildings on site. The facilities were clean and checked regularly. Pitches were spacious and well set out. The choice of pitch was brilliant. There were clusters of 2 or 3, or more together, and there were bunded 'hideaways' for one 'van only. The choice is yours! I wouldn't hesitate to return, indeed, we are planning to in September/October.

April 2004 We loved the site, no set pitches all set randomly round the site. The toilets may not be the most modern (according to CC members) but are clean and enough per block). There are many disposal/water sites around the park. The staff are cheerful, helpful and the shop is good. Plenty of walks too.

Easter 2003 A truly perfect spot amongst National Trust Woodland. This is not the perfect regimental caravan site. Pitches (161) are scattered amongst 20 acres of mixed woodland and wild flowres. Nor are the pitches perfectly gravelled and kept, but more rustic in keeping with their surroudings. The toilet blocks although not the Clubs standard type layout and dated where clean and well kept.
