We have stayed at this site twice now. It is a large site but you are not on top of people. Pitches are not reserved so you are given a map upon arrival.
It is best to have a look at the map and then drive around. Not ideal when towing!
It is in woodland which is lovely and therefore shaded.
Numerous walks near by and a little nature trail from Sizergh barn which comes past the site.
All facilities well maintained and clean.
Only issue is the time in which people can check in overlaps with checking out. The lane is narrow and you are better leaving before 11 so you do not meet another van on the way.

Have just arrived back from a wonderful Easter at Low Park Wood. The site was full but it still seemed peaceful. You can choose to pitch your caravan in different small glades amongst the trees, I think this is what helped to keep the site from feeling to busy.
The only fault we could find is that another toilet block for peak times would be nice.
There are many nice walks from the site so there is no need to go far. It was just perfect for out 2 labradors with a lovely small river for them to swim in.
We will certainly be coming back here again.

Just returned from a lovely weekend away here.
The site is well laid out in small clearings so you feel on your own.
The toilet blocks were lovely and clean.
Cartmel worth a visit.
Entrance to the site narrow and one person did pass us in the car before 12pm wouldn't like to meet another caravan
Would return to this site again the only thing that let it down were some people taking up two pitches with their caravans making it harder to find a pitch and other dog owners not cleaning up their dog mess.

Absolutely brilliant - was looking for a quiet site to rejuvenate my batteries after a hard year at work and found it right here.
Beautiful scenery, great pitches, very clean facilities and wardens were great. They were around to help but didn't show a daily presence. Lots to see and do in the area with great shopping in Kendal nearby.
The only bad day trip we had was to as Motor Museum - it stated it was a great day out for all the family. However, unless you want to see a mismash display of cars and bikes with no continuity then this is not a great day out. Everything is crammed in preventing you from really seeing the displays.
On a brighter note we did go to the The Worl Of Beatrix Potter and loved every minute of it.

We have just returned from a lovely week's stay at Low Park Wood, as with Caravan Club sites the toilets were very clean and other areas of the site were very well maintained.
Please note don't as it says in the Caravan Club handbook arrive before 12 noon, due to the very narrow lane and other people leaving the site, we did (our mistake) and met a caravan leaving which resulted in us getting a very frosty reception at reception (deserved to some extent) and me having to reverse the caravan back up the narrow road (uphill) to let a caravan coming out past!
After that hickup we had a lovely stay, our pitch was about level and quite large, but other pitches looked quite small suitable for caravan only and no awning. If you are planning to put an awning up here ensure you have very tough rock pegs the screw in type probably the best, if using normal rock pegs take a lump hammer you will need it!
The shop sold a very limited supply of items and the nearest shops are about 5 miles away, it would be nice with the shops so far away for the on site shop to carry a few more lines.
The area around Kendal and the Lake District is stunning whatever the time of year but we were very lucky with the weather however I would probably avoid returning to the Lake District at this time of year as it was so busy parking was terrible if not impossible we never did get parked in Grasmere.
Overall a lovely week was enjoyed by all inc the dog, who loved the river running next to the site. I would recommend this site to anyone wanting to explore South Lakes and Kendal and wont hesitate to stay here again.

Just had a wonderful three days at Low Park Wood.
The pitches are all secluded and on hard standing, the toilet blocks are excellent and all the other facilities are of an equally high standard. I would definitely stay there again.
The only very minor point is the all the sap that has dripped off the trees onto the car - a very small price to pay for such a lovely setting.
The site access road is only single carriageway, but we never had a problem on any day we were there. There are lovely walks along the river and the Strickland Arms is a must if you like good food, good beer and a lovely atmosphere.
Highly recommended

Absolutely wonderful, what an amazing site very clean and not at all crowded, in fact our pitch was on its own but didn't see any that were cramped or close together and great wardens who were very friendly. Lovely walk into Kendal, quite a long way but great if you have a dog, our dog just loved this holiday. Quite a short walk to the local pub which serves great food and has a lovely beer garden so is dog friendly. Cant beat sitting outside the caravan watching the wildlife, squirrels, field mice and rabbits.
Will definitely be returning, one of my favourites.

If you want a large sunny pitch with great views this is not the site for you.
The pitches are all set amongst trees and some of them are small and not very well defined.
On the plus side the wardens were friendly, toilet block immaculate and some nice walks from site.
I feel that the caravan club have tried to squeeze too many pitches on this site.
Whilst I like to speak to fellow campers, I felt that on this site they were practically moving in.

This was our first trip in our caravan and we couldn't have stayed anywhere nicer. Very friendly wardens, spotlessly clean and warm toilet blocks and washing up area. A very well maintained site. Fish and Chip van 3 nights a week! No noise at night, very dark though so take a good torch. Some of the pitches are quite challenging for us newbies as parts of the site are steep!

Warm greeting from friendly wardens who spent some time with us giving the “low down” on the site.
The site is strung out into lots of little niches and the one way system connecting them demands concentration but you soon get used to it. Lots of shade, just a little too much for our taste.
The two toilet blocks are very clean, warm and dry however they were looking tired. VERY deep washing up sinks.
We chose to drive into Kendall from the site but I’m sure determined walkers will say it’s within walking distance.
Kendall is a pretty place with a good selection of places to eat, drink and shop.
