Always find it difficult to give an honest review with just a one night stay, as we were on our way back to South Wales from Scotland.
On arrival, staff were very welcoming and explained the layout of the site which can be slightly confusing.
We were soon hooked up in a clearing along with I believe, four other units.
Water points, grey water and chemical disposal were all conveniently near.
The toilet and shower block we used were spotless.
Perhaps October is not the best month to visit this site, we had heavy rain all night and with the overhanging trees it sounded like we were being hit by lego blocks all night.
Having said that, I can imagine it being glorious in the right weather.
Hard to criticise the site on a one off nights stay with bad weather.
Would we return, probably in finer months.

This is our third visit to this site (strangely always in September).
It is a lovely site which is easily accessible via the M6 and is nicely situated for visits to Barrow in Furness, Morecambe and the Lakes. (We spent our time going to all 3 due to Family connections)
The site has nice pitches that are a little different to the usual caravan club style, it has areas where you find 4/5 caravans. It is based in an old gun powder works and you can still see some of the crumbing ruins and the water channels to assist the works. It has a lovely dog walk and you can go further afield easily - and there are walks along the river Kent.
Our 2 springer spaniels had a great time and everyone we met with dogs commented on what an excellent location it is for them.
When we were booking in the wardens were delightful and were telling us that they were fully booked over the weekend.
There are 2 toilet blocks both cleaned and maintained well.
We will continue to use this site (especially for visiting the family), we are already thinking about September next year :)

Stayed five nights early July midweek. No children around our area of the site. Very shaded pitches however we did encounter quite a few insect! Wildlife in abundance. Single track access road but did not meet any other vehicles when we arrived or departed. Walked into Kendal and walked to the Strickland Arms pub a few times for evening meal, which I can recommend. Needed levelling blocks for our motorhome.
Amenity block with lots of clean showers and hot water was fine and well maintained but a bit dated. Lovely friendly staff thanks for hints and advice.

Our first caravan trip after a 20 year break and we were a bit nervous! But after surviving the towing we arrived at this beautiful site. From the moment we arrived the wardens could not have been more helpful, taking time out to help us set up correctly and just helping us along the way all weekend.
The site is beautiful and the pitch we had was separated from others by mature trees. The facilities are immaculate and the surrounding area perfect for exploring.
It was a great return to caravanning and this is the site by which we will judge all others.

Enjoyed our short stay here in mid October 2015. Staff were pleasant & helpful. At the time of our visit the approach single track road had many potholes. Site facilities blocks clean, warm & plenty of hot water. This is a hillside woodland site with a good tarmac road through it with clusters of pitches of it. Did feel a bit dismal at this time of year. We visited Sizeburgh Castle (Nat Trust)& RSPB @ Leighton Moss. Did not look for playground so cannot comment. Shopped at Morrisons in Kendal before arriving at site as it is a good distance from Kendal & anywhere else really. Probably an ideal site for dog walkers/walkers in general. A good 30min walk to bus stop we were told. Did not use the 'local' pub as some negative comments in visitors book and it was, in parts, a potholed road to walk along in the dark to get to it.

Trying to find a pitch was no easy matter and we finished up having to park sideways under the tress, which was very dreary. I managed to get lost trying to find my way back to Reception and 3 separate people gave me the wrong directions, and that was with a map!
That aside the site was fine, up to the usual Caravan Club standards with extremely helpful staff. Lovely woods for dog walking with on site access. We walked to Sizergh Castle (NT) and had a good walk in the grounds there.
It took us a while to get used to all the cul de sacs, but would definitely go back there.

Well I have just arrived at this site. It has a beautiful location all wooded and gorgeous yes it is dark but it's a forest so will be. The toilet block is spotlessly clean the showers are nice and hot and not to bad in size but could have a slightly bigger shower cubicle for disabled use as my wife did struggle with her crutches due to lack of space. Rubbish bins, Fresh water, Waste water and chemical waste are all easily accessible and close together. Food shop on site bit pricey but then aren’t they all.

Very nice site.
We stayed on a fully serviced pitch up in the woods.
It rained the whole time of our stay on this site and that was very disappointing, not the sites fault in the slightest but as there are a lot of trees it does stay very wet and dismal for longer.
All facilities are very nice.
Kids liked the park and a ball can be used in that area.
On the last day my little boy got a tick on his arm, it must have fallen out of the foliage, be aware for dogs.

Just returned having spent six nights at this fantastic site and would definitely return. Usual caravan club standards, clean facilities, friendly wardens, brilliant location etc. Plenty of walks direct from the site which was great for our border terrier who spent most of the walks off the lead. The walk into Kendal is particularly pleasant, walking along the riverside, lots of wildlife etc.
The only negative things which spring to mind are the approach lane (not a problem if people stick to the departure/arrival times) and the difficulty in trying to find a suitable pitch as many were dark and shaded due to the tree cover.
Wish we could have stayed longer particularly as the following weekend there was a guided tour around the site which we would have found really interesting as the site is on the old gunpowder works and there are many ruins to be seen. Never mind, will have to check on google instead.
Overall I would be happy to recommend this site.

A warm welcome on arrival. It was a Bank Holiday Saturday!
Trying to find a suitable pitch was an experience. The site has a number of individual areas, each with 8 - 10 pitches. Some of these were occupied by groups of people sitting outside their units. This gave the impression of 'repel all boarders'. Other pitches were obstructed by families playing racquet sports. Providing a badminton net was not our idea of fun.
On the third circuit we found a pitch near the playground. Thankfully, there was no noise issue during the evening.
We noticed that several caravanners were having to 'hone their reversing skills' as they too were exploring cul-de-sacs. The warden did eventually get on his golf buggy to bring the mayhem under control.
Toilets / shower facilities were plentiful and what you would expect from a CC site.
