A big site with lots of caravans and 2 fields for tents with lots of space. The field we were in was rough agricultural grass with lots of thick, hard thistle stubs so children need shoes at all times. The main toilet block is about a five minute walk if you have small children and you will probably have to carry 2 year-olds after a busy day out when they are tired. To counter this the owners have provided 2 poraloos in each tent field - these were often very dirty and had run out of toilet paper. The main toilet/shower block was clean at most times but often had run out of toilet paper and hand towels. On one occasion there were large amounts of sick and diarrhoea in one cubicle. The showers were also sometimes scalding hot and had to be turned on and off repeatedly at the mains pull switch to prevent scalding my children, 4 and 2 years old. Although there was a notice warning of this because of unusually low local water pressure I would have liked to have been offered a reduction in the cost of stay (which at £17.50 a night I found excessive). Other than that a fairly good site.

We enjoyed our weekend staying at this site at the end of April, despite it being quite cold. The pool looked good but wasn't open due to the time of year. Our nephew loved the play area and I think it was his favourite part of the holiday. The site has ample hot showers, the washrooms are generally good. Our pitch was level and the site well kept. The site has a pub at it's entrance which serves reasonable inexpensive food. The area great, Blackpool being a fantastic beach, large shingle. Dartmouth is a good town to visit. Woodlands adventure worth a visit if the weather is poor. Only downside I could find is walking from the site anywhere, the road is quite busy and narrow in places with no path, I wouldn't want to take young children. Would return to this site.

What a pleasant surprise! We chose it just as somewhere to stay overnight when we attended a local social event. This is a very pleasant campsite indeed, with large grassy pitches (some divided by mature trees) and a view of the sea even from the the rear edge of the site. No complaints about hooks in the showers now, and the cubicles are unusually large so your clothes don't splashed.

July 2005 Lovely site with great views of the sea and friendly staff and owners. Pitches are spacious and well kept. The showers are free but could do with a few more hooks. There is no dog walking, but there is an area about five minutes walk from the site. The onsite pub serves excellent food which was served quickly and without fuss, they also have a burger van. The pool is enclosed in its own courtyard and was very quiet whilst we were there. Also on site is a Little Tykes play area. The site is not far from Blackpool Sands and Woodlands theme park, both well worth a visit. Will definatley be going back to this site.

July 2005 We have just got back from a week here and i am impressed. The shower/toilet blocks were large and clean, i liked the fact the showers were temperature controllable which made them ideal for children. The pub was friendly and the food was wonderful, very generous portions. The staff were very helpful, friendly and knew their jobs. The swimming pool was warm, clean and well maintained, any problems arising were overcome quickly. The takeaway van on site is a good idea, great for the kids, save them running round the pub. Pete is the ideal owner, nearly always around, friendly and could teach some other site owners some "people" skills. We are definitely coming back here.

July 2005 We enjoyed a weekend of brillant weather on this nice friendly site. Food is good and the toilet block excellant. We did find it a little cramped being put in the small field with our caravan and surrounded by large tents. No other adverse comments. For dog owners, beware that the local beaches especially Blackpool Beach are not dog friendly. They are not even allowed in the car park. If you want to excercise 'Rover' in the sea you will have to go to Slapton. With regards going into Dartmouth use the park and ride 2 miles from the camp. Its £4 per day. No parking is allowed in Dartmouth over 4 hours and finding a space is impossible when busy. Do take a boat ride up the river - brillant. We would go again - but the dog says No!

May 2005 Having just returned from a nice relaxing weekend, I can say good things about this site. The toilet block has had a lot of work done on it, new floor, new wash basins etc. It still remains a very welcoming and relaxing site. We have been here several times before. No real gripes, only one being the food is a bit on the pricy side, but it was very nice and well presented.
Site caters for youngsters in the form of a "Jungle Jim" type play area with swings etc, the slightly older ones might get a little fed up unless they like playing pool. Staff are very friendly and more than happy to help.
All in all a very nice site, as stated, we have been here before and will be going there again.

July 2004 This is a pleasant campsite within easy reach of Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands. The onsite pub is an asset although the food is a little expensive for the very average standard. The Pizzas in particular could be a lot better considering the cost. Two of the Pizzas on seperate occasions were not cooked properly. The "kids zone" was a bit dissapointing as it is full of "honey trap" items, i.e. sweet machines.
The heated swimming pool was relatively clean, safe and a great hit with the kids. The washing and shower facilities were pretty much as described although the staff at the site could spend a lot more time ensuring that this whole area is cleaner. I did not see any cleaning taking place during my entire stay although it may have been conducted very early in the morning. Notwithstanding this, they get a great deal of use and need to be cleaned more than once a day. This simple direction of effort could help improve the site.
Pitches were clearly marked and waste disposal and water facilities were within easy reach. It was also pleasing to note the fire precaution equipment dotted around the site.
There was a freezer available to freeze blocks and the launderette facilities were fine, but the washing machine was too expensive.
The playground was close and with enough equipment to keep my two young children occupied although older children would find it hard to occupy themselves in the evening.
The shop at the nearby petrol station was very useful and well stocked with food items and stuff for the beach.
Overall not a bad experience. I would visit again.

June '04 Stayed as part of a cl;ub meet over the weekend 4/5/6 June The site was much more full this time because of half-term. Still everyone was good natured and the facilities seemed to cope very well. If you are going into Dartmouth take a load of small change with you; you'll need it for parking. Also try and be there before 9.30am otherwise you'll find parking a nightmare.

May 2004 It's a pleasant site and has much to recommend it. The views are very good and the shower area is better than some other sites that I have had the misfortune to stay on. There is a handy pub on site and is used as much by local people as it is by campers: that in itself has got to be good indicater. My only moan is that I thought that the food was overpriced. I know enough about mass catering to know when I am being over-charged.
