On a first visit to Dartmouth ( Stunning), this site must rate as on of our Favourites.
Spotless site, everything clean tidy never saw a bit of mess anywhere. Showers and Wash up areas 5 * and plenty of cubicles. The site was full but you never had to wait for anything.
The Welcome was lovely and were asked for tomorrows order of stuff on arrival and requirements for water.
Caught Bus to Dartmouth and Taxi back (£6) on three days and Dartmouth was wonderful loads to do and see.
Sadly not warm enough for the beach but Blackpool sands was a treat even in the wind.
Will Return

Visited this site in June 2011 for 10 days, found the staff very helpful, all the utilities were always spotless. Site was very busy, got a pitch on the first field on entering the site, felt a little squeezed-in. Bring plenty of awning pegs with you as the site is very high up, and windy, could not put the awning up for the first five days. Bus stop at the site entrance to take you to most places if you wanted to use the bus. The Deer Park inn is now closed so you will have to find another Pub/Inn for your meals. A local garage just around the corner which also sells basic items.

In general I agree with the comments posted on this board about this site. Wifi range was about 10 metres for a decent connection.
Do not rely on the local bus if you want to be on time - e. G. The steam train. Sometimes they don't even turn up.
Blackpool Sands was lovely with a nice walk to it - steep on part of the way back but you can stop enroute for a break! You need to book a table at the restaurant at the beach.
Goodrington Sands was not that special and its waterpark is more for ages 10+ than small children.

Very friendly welcome from the wardens, who showed us to the last 2 pitches.
Facilities spotlessly clean and spacious, nice hot showers without the push buttons.
The Deer Park Inn at the entrance has now closed down, so the nearest pub is the Green Dragon in the village, which is dog friendly and served nice basic pub food.
We got a bus to Dartmouth & one to Torcross (can recommend Seabreeze cafe).
We drove up from Cornwall and the A379 was very narrow in places with very unforgiving high walls, especially through Stoke Fleming itself, so be warned. We drove back via Dartmouth, which was much easier.
Something lacking here for us, so not a returner!

14 night stay here. Easy to find but some of the approach roads from the A38 onwards are narrow in places.
Good points:
1. Lovely aspect with views out to sea, friendly welcome from the wardens, site shop sold all the basics and fresh bread could be ordered, together with pasties and fresh meat/sauages/bacon etc.
2. Beautifully kept spacious toilet/shower blocks - always clean and any problems attended to promptly (blocked drain while we were there which was sorted out quickly). There were even fresh flowers in the ladies and the gents.
3. Good laundry room with 2 washing machines and 2 driers - handwashing sinks and iron/board also provided.
3. Pot washing area indoors, always spotless with plenty of hot water (with a sea view when doing the washing up!)
4. Strong, reliable Wi Fi signal from our pitch
5. Helpful, friendly wardens
6. Nice pub not too far away (Sportsmans Arms) which did good food at a reasonable price but you need to book a table on Friday evenings or weekends as it is popular. Dogs are allowed into the bar area.
7. Park and Ride service for Dartmouth is excellent at £5 per day to include parking and bus fares.
8. The Round Robin trip was good value (£62 for a family ticket) and a great day out.
Bad points:
1. The pitches did seem a little 'squeezed in' and I think we had the worst pitch on the whole site which was on a bad slope (even with the jockey wheel at its lowest, it was not possible to get the van properly level).
2. The playground access and noise levels. The noise from the play area at times was deafening. The only advice is, don't pitch next to the bank which backs onto the play area unless you are happy for all the kids on site to use your pitch as their way in and out.
3. Price of everything in Dartmouth itself did seem expensive to us - it seems to be set up to cater to the millionaire yacht owners rather than ordinary folk like us!
4. All the local beaches are of the shingle variety, unless you take the ferry over to Paignton or Goodrington Sands.
5. TV signal is a bit hit and miss
6. The Deer Park pub at the entrance was closed (we were told they had gone out of business).
Despite the above, we did have an enjoyable stay here but if we were to return, it would have to be on a different pitch well away from the play area. Sorry to have rambled on a little. Overall 7/10.

Very nice, well-run site, which was full when we stayed for four nights in early June. The facilities were very clean and we had no complaints.
We thought that it was a good idea to have only one central location for rubbish and recycling as this kept mess around the site to a minimum and meant that the managers didn't have to go around emptying and tidying multiple waste points (less noise!).
Also, despite being full, with plenty of kids running around, the site was very quite at night as all campers seemed very respectful of each other. Talking of kids, the playground was nice, safe and enclosed.
The on-site shop has some basics but has limited opening times. Otherwise there is a garage and shop next to the site, which is open between 8am and 6pm.
The Deer park Inn at the entrance is okay but could do with some love. However, it's big, serves food and drink, and it's there if you want it!
Dartmouth is very close, but the park & ride is a better option than trying to park down in the town. You can also catch the bus from the site entrance, but be warned because it's damn expensive for a family, which seemed wrong to us. There is a Lidl and Sainsbury's on the outskirts (less than 5 mins from camp site) and we can recommend the heated outdoor swimming pool at the school, which is on the way!
In addition, there is a fabulous walk down to (and back up again) Blackpool Sands beach, which has brilliant facilities. On the way, Stoke Fleming has a pub, shop/Post Office and Fish & Chip shop.
I would not hesitate to return to Dartmouth CCC site or recommend it to others, particularly young families.

This is a spacious campsite with sea views from every pitch. It is on a slope, with a bit of leveling. The pricing structure is skewed towards large units needing electric hook-up, as you pay for large plots and electricity whether you use it or not. Small tents may find it significantly cheaper elsewhere.
Many people bring wind breaks, as the openness and sea views do mean you get a good range of wind directions affecting the site. Many plots are against a hedge all the same.
The toilet facilities and showers are modern and beautifully kept. Without timing or meters, the showers tend to be occupied for a long time, so you often need to wait your turn at peak times of day when the camp is full. There is a 6 figure door key code to get into the gents and ladies, which is a bit of a trial for young kids and new residents in a rush to the toilet at night. They are also on one side of the site, so some pitches have a bit of a walk.
The enclosed bright washing up area is lovely, as is the laundry, with all you would need.
The electric hook ups have lights on them so that you can find your way to the toilet easily at night without a torch, but can't see many stars as a result.
Since so much electricity and hot water is liberally used on this site it could really benefit from renewable energy fixtures such as solar thermal, PV and wind turbines, saving the site money into the bargain.
The playground is great for kids to meet up with each other and feels fine for them to go to alone. There's also a quite secure feel about the site that made my 8 year old daughter and younger kids happy to go about alone.
The reception is open 9am to 5pm, so if you're out most of the day you may miss it.
As with much of Devon, it helps to have a car to get around, however the bus stops just outside on route 93 between Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Plymouth. You can walk to Blackpool Sands beach, watersports hire and cafe in 20-30 mins, and Dartmouth in less than an hour, mainly off-road. There's nowhere close to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, and few facilities in easy walking distance, which is what gives it only a 6 for location despite The South Hams being a lovely area and the good sea views from the site.

This is a very nice and well-run site. It was full when we stayed for the Spring Bank holiday week. The facilities coped well and were very clean and we had no complaints.
The on-site shop has some basics but has limited opening times.
The Deer park Inn at the entrance is a bit tired but is big, serves food and drink, and it's there if you want to use it.
You can catch the bus from the site entrance.
There is a great walk down to Blackpool Sands beach, which has brilliant facilities.
We will definitely return.

Having spent the run up to, and the Easter period at the site, I am pleased to post a review.
The staff were very friendly, and welcoming, site toilets shower block, dish washing area etc were very clean and in excellent repair.
We requested an area with Wi-Fi which we were given and am happy to report no signal problems.
The only negative for me was the charge of £10 per person (little expensive I thought) for our son and g/f who stayed with us for one night in the trailer tent
Overall a smashing short break, great site, highly recommended, will definitely use it again

One of the best-run sites we have ever visited. The site managers and assistants were welcoming, wonderfully helpful and informative. The facilities were always immaculately clean and enhanced with cut flowers - a real attention to detail. A fantastic location in a delightful village with direct access to the SW coast path. Highly recommended.
As with many club sites, more hooks are needed for clothes in the wash areas.
