Just got back from Deer park, good level pitches that didn't seem to get too boggy considering the amount of rain we had. Toilet block ok but looked a little tired inside and kept running out of loo roll, and the shower temperture was a bit hit and miss especially in the ladies. Good children play area, but note there is no shop on site and the garage just outside the camp shuts after six, so if you are needing gas after that time forget it!
Overall a good site with excellent views after reading a previous post from the owner with regards to a small shop/ reception being built and upgrading the toilets some time has made my day, and is the iceing on the cake and will make the campsite near to perfect.

Just returned from a Self Build Motor Caravanners Club meet at Deer Park. As usual, we had Brill time. This is definitely amongst the best sites that we have Meets at each year. It's relatively easy to get to. The site has both a good Pub and a Restaurant on site. The shower block is always clean even after the site management have cut the grass - LOL There is a very good Bus service that can take take you into either Dartmouth or along to Tor Cross or Blackpool Sands and it's right outside the Deer Park site gates. Slapton Ley is very good for anyone who has an interest in wildlife. All up, it's very hard to find anything against Deer Park: For me? I'd give it A1+

My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend at the Deer Park campsite and we have to say it is one of the best campsites we have visited. The site is on the outskirts of Stoke Fleming only a five minute drive from the lovely town of Dartmouth. We pitched on a relatively flat pitch at the top of the first field, most of the pitches in the first field are relatively flat, the second field has more of a slope but it''s not too bad. We pitched our tent with a nice sea view (It was 2 days before we saw it though due to the weather!) The showers and toilets are excellent and we never had to queue for either even first thing in the morning. The showers are piping hot, just what you need after a cold night in the rain (Typical British June weather!) The washing up facilities are good with plenty of sinks although the water was a little cold in the mornings. All in all the campsite is very well laid out and maintained - all of the tent pitches we saw had an electric hook-up and plenty of room to pitch a reasonable size tent. (Not sure about if monster tents would be ok in all of the pitches between a couple of the trees where we were). The Deer Park Inn is an excellent little pub which is easily accessible being located near to the toilet and shower block. The pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The beer and wine is very reasonably priced, we also had a meal one night which was excellent. The food is very reasonably priced for the huge portions you receive and was delicious. The Bangers and Mash arrived with a large "Mountain of Mash" just as described in the menu! We didn't try the swimming pool as it was raining nearly all of the time, or the children's play are (No kids!) but both facilities looked good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be going back as soon as we can! This really is one of the best campsites we have visited having good facilities but retaining a relaxed peaceful atmosphere.

Just a quick update on the season so far: We now have a warden and an assistant living on the site, one in each enclosure. Anne (our warden) has a mobile so if you arrive at the site you can phone her and she will appear a couple of minutes later (a bit like a Scottish Mr. Ben - but without the fancy dress costumes.) The boreholes working really well, swimming pool up and running from it - the water is crystal clear and much cleaner than mains water! The reception will be as last season, apparently we need planning permission to replace it , so we've decided to do that over the winter so as not to disrupt the site now it's open. Big (and I mean BIG) improvement with the toilets in the two camping fields - why didn't we do it sooner? Those blue things were just awful! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Well, Easter and Whitsun over, looking forward to a few quiet weeks until all hell breaks loose.yep, its the UKCS rally in July! We're having a great time this season, met some lovely folk on the site - its times like these that make all the late nights, early mornings and blocked drains worthwhile!

Just returned from camping at Deer Park Caravan & Camping with our children, and family members. Camped for 3 nights, 4 days had a fantastic time, camp site very clean and safe for kids. Restaurant and pub very friendly, excellent food and very reasonably priced. All the staff are very friendly, the facilities are very clean and well organised. It is ideally located for the beach (Blackpool Sands) and Dartmouth Town which has some very nice pubs! The owner Peter is very approachable if not slightly laid-back! Would fully recommend this campsite.

Review submitted by Deer Park
Thank you for all your feedback again this year, we really do appreciate it, it's important to us to know what people like and where we can make improvements! For next season (2007) we have already had a new water main laid and, to reinforce our 'green credentials', we are drawing water from our own spring ( for non-drinking use at this stage ) to avoid a repeat of last summers water supply problems - big thumbs down to South West Water for that ! There will be a bigger reception at the entrance which will include for the first time a small shop stocking necessities and hopefully also some local organic produce (hens willing.). For the main school holidays in July and August we will be doing away with the 'blue dalek' toilets - hurrah - and will be putting in larger blocks which will be miles better - plus improvements to the main toilet/shower block ( new toilets, hand dryers etc). We will also be trialing a new 'field warden' system during the holidays, where each enclosure (there are 4) has an identifiable member of staff living there for the holidays - important when there are problems or things that need to be dealt with quickly. One thing that won't change is the warm and friendly welcome all our guests enjoy - we look forward to greeting you again in 2007. Regards Pete & Sarah Keane

We found this site by accident, we were heading for Little Cotton but it had closed. Deer Park was also closing but the owner - Pete - let us stay anyway, they were re-doing the shower and toilet block so only basic facilities were available but we were happy with this. It was a struggle getting him to take any money for letting us stay! The site is in a good position, very close to Dartmouth and the beach, shame the weather was miserable as we would have liked to stay longer. After the welcome we had this time we will definitely return next year.

Spent 2 nights after the Bank Holiday the site was pretty full. I'm sure the views are lovely but all we could see were caravans and cars. The on site shop was selling coffee at £1.75 for 50g (you'll agree a little overpriced!) I didn't notice the price for any other items. The most expensive site we used this holiday (£21.25 per night for 2 adults and 3 children). There was a childrens room attached to the pub housing a pool table and some 20p tut machines (the kind of enviroment we try to avoid). The pool was ok although in my opinion it could so with a revamp but the area did look recently painted. I booked this site specifically to go to Woodlands and for that it served it's purpose but this site is not for us and we will not be going back.

Tidy and level pitch with plenty of room and the surroundings were well kept. The standard of the shower and toilet facilities were only just on the adequate side. They may need a upgrade pretty soon. Deer Park had a nice play area that was not in the best position on site as it seemed a distance from a lot of pitches (not a bad thing for everybody!). The pub on site was very poor from most perspectives; trying to be a gastro-pub, kids pub, family entertainment area, adults swilling pub and it failed miserably on all counts. The food was expensive and very poor, all in all the pub wasn't up to much at all. Very near to lots of great attractions. Woodlands was a great place to visit for people of all ages, they seemed to have it covered for everybody! Highly recommended! Green Dragon pub (3/4 mile walk) served excellent food and beer.

Stayed here for 4 nights during the school holidays.
Owners were at reception when we arrived and were really friendly. Told that there were 2 fields which we could use. Pitches were not marked so there was lots of space. (The marked pitches seemed to be quite cramped). Only problem was that there was only one shower / toilet block which was near the entrance to the site. The 2 fields were serviced by chemical toilets (2 in each field). This wasn't good but most people used to just use them first and last thing.
When we arrived we were told about a problem with the water pressure and that showering and washing should be done outside peak times. This created absolute havoc. Every time we went for a shower they were freezing and there was always a queue. Only 7 ladies showers and one of these was out of order. Although my OH said the men's were OK.
The pub served huge portions and was really reasonable.
Dartmouth was lovely and I would recommend a stay.
