We just turned up at this site without booking and found the boys very friendly. Toilets fabulously clean. Lovely views.
Downside: I was glad we were in the second field as the first seemed jammed packed. Our pitch was full of holes - nearly broke my ankle putting the tent up. No fires even in a kettle BBQ - that is what camping is all about surely?
Came back to the site quite late and got told off must be tucked up in sleeping bags by 11pm! - had to drive through site with lights turned off feeling very naughty.
No ball games
Lovely site but too many rules

My wife and I are trying to emulate the BBC programme by driving our motorhome around the UK coastline. During this project we have visited many sites and would rate this one in our top five so far!
The staff are brilliant, friendly and extremely helpful. The site is peaceful and the facilities are excellent! The grounds are immaculate with hardstandings as level as a laser! A quiet location a few miles from the centre of Dartmouth and with a pub sharing the same entrance!
Just outside the entrance are two bus stops. We travelled into Dartmouth free with our bus passes and escaped a drive down extremely steep roads into the harbour area and hub of the town.
There are excellent boat trips along the river to Agatha Christie's house/Drake's boathouse and other sights. This is also the home of the Royal Naval College with its attending history.
Highly recommended!

A great site with views of the sea, but beware peg down your awning as they also get high winds.
The toilet/showers etc are top quality and are kept very clean. There are so many places to go near the site, we left the car and went by bus to Dartmouth and the took a boat to Dartmouth Castle, and to Greenway (Agatha Chrities house)
There are endless ways to travel without the car the boat, steam train and lots of buses. The journey by bus to Kingsbridge is an adventure in it's self.
If towing avoid the many narrow lanes and go via the upper ferry, with a caravan it's £9 and so simple, as an extra bonus they usually let caravans off first and all traffic has to follow you for several miles up the hill.
The only negative is the ungated site.

What a lovely site. Situated close to Dartmouth it's an ideal base for a North Devon holiday. Toilet and shower block is absolutely spotless and very well maintained. If you are camping there are two fields, one with hookup and one without - this one slopes too so when booking make sure you are aware of which field you'll be in. Fresh baked bread from the shop every morning is a must. The Deer Park Inn is situated at the gate to this site and the meals in here are really good and great value for money. I would have no problem recommending this site to a fellow camper.

We had a great week in July at this excellent site. It is very well run with good pitches. The staff were very helpful.
We had a good pitch for our large tent and gazebo.
The prices were reasonable, we have since paid far more for a site with inferior facilities.
There is a small playground area for children and excellent shower, washroom and toilet facilities which were always very clean.
The covered in washing up area has ample sinks and hot water and there is also a laundry room.
The small shop on site is well stocked and the pub next to the site caters for site trade and a few locals.
The beach at Blackpool Sands a mile away is a gem.
Dartmouth is about three miles away.
This area of Devon is lovely and well worth a visit. We would definitely return to this site.

Lovely facilities and really friendly owners. We booked for a week but the weather turned a bit nasty so we left a night early. The pitches are well sized and electric hook up easy to use, water nearby, hot showers and clean toilets. The shop stocks essentials and you can order fresh bread and newspapers which is great. The site was also really quiet in the mornings and at night, by 11pm it was almost silent, so easy to sleep! all the pitches in the main part were on flat ground with plenty of space around them, the access roads were good too. Unfortunately Our pitch was in the middle row of one of the fields which wasn't great when it got very windy as there was no shelter. Next time we will be looking for somewhere with more sheltered pitches, or somewhere that can guarantee sunshine!
The pub at the entrance has got some negative reviews but we found it quite good, the food is nice, order it before you are too hungry though as it can take a while. The beer was spot on and the bar staff very efficient. Go to Blackpool Sands if it's a hot day, it's just down the road and a beautiful clean beach.
The steam train to Paignton is good fun and there are lots of little shops to explore in Dartmouth. When in Dartmouth, look out for the SINGING KETTLE TEA SHOP on Smith Street in the town centre up a hill - they do the most amazing milkshakes, our 16 year old voted for vanilla as his fave, the filter coffee is lovely, served from silver coffee pots with hot milk, the best coffee I have tasted! They do food too. We loved it and went back there twice, both times receiving a warm welcome from the owner and his staff. Overall Very Happy!

Had a lovely 5 night stay at this site with our 10 year old. The toilet/shower facilities were more than adequate and immaculately clean. Large play area that gave the children enough room to blow off some steam. The shop was fairly well stocked with basic provisions and the guys in there were really nice. We visited Dartmouth town on a number of occasions and found that the best way to do it was using the park and ride from Sainsburys which was only a five minute drive away.
We used the pub on site the Deer Park most evenings, the food was fine you could choose from the main menu or the all you can eat menu (now available every evening) and it was well worth a visit the staff were lovely and welcoming, they also had a corner for the kids to play wii for free and the pool table which the kids could use without objection.
All in all a great site great facilities great staff great pub will be going again !

Visited this site on our first long camping trip as a family with two small kids (5 and 2 years). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough to help us inexperienced campers.
The facilities were absolutely spotless with plenty of lovely hot water showers and sinks, a laundry room and washing facilities with a view of the sea.
The little shop at reception stocked a few bits and pieces and the playground was good. The pub next door served cheap and cheerful meals.
Prickly Ball farm and hedgehog rescue centre nearby worth a visit as is the coastal zoo at Torquay where you can walk with penguins.

We have just returned from two weeks at Dartmouth and totally agree with the previous comments about the site. The team are excellent and the facilities are spotless.
The Pub located at the site entrance is excellent value and the staff there can't do enough for you. Probably the best service we received in Devon. It was always busy but the service was great. You can't please everyone and this is a 'local' pub, not a bistro. All you can eat offers on Friday and Saturday superb.

Stayed on this site for 4 nights at the start of the month.
The facilities are really first class. The shower blocks are modern, clean and bright with plenty of hot water for all. The site was full and we didn't have to queue at any time.
The play area is lovely although there isn't anything for smaller children and our 2 year old struggled to get onto the slide, not the type of play area where you could leave smaller children on their own.
My only real criticism for the site would be the lack of entry barriers - they say this is due to the shared entrance to the pub but I feel it would be possible with some thought and this would have made us feel a little more secure that people couldn't just drive onto the site at will.
Dartmouth is a lovely area and with the bus stop just outside the entrance access to the town and surrounding areas is easy although single bus fares are not cheap.
Overall, would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
