May 2005 This was our first stay at this site and on arrival the lady was very helpful and let us choose which pitch we would like. There were six of us altogether in two tents and although this is a very small site, there was plenty of room to put the tents next door to each other. One little niggle is all the pitches are sloping despite being told they were flat. Lowtrow Cross is an ideal base if you enjoy walking and the campsite supplies a map with a beautiful walk throughh forest, meadows and lake side where we saw some deers.
Niggle number two is although spotlessly clean the shower block is very dated with two showers in the gents and two in the ladies. These are the type which you have to continually push every 20 seconds to keep the water flowing (very annoying indeed!). You also have to stoop to get yourself under the fixed shower heads unless you are under 5 feet tall!
There is an excellent pub just inches away from the camping field that serves fantastic food. One word of warning though "Beware The Take Away!" We ordered a steak and onion baguette to take away, after a while the waitress came out and said they had run out of baguettes and would we like a sandwich instead, no problem we thought only when it arrived we had to pay the same prices as the baguette for some steak and onion in a regular sized sandwich for £6.95!!!
On the plus side, the camp, being adults only is wonderfully peaceful. no mobile phone signal, the TV reception was non existant and most of the plug in ariel sockets weren't operational, a nuisance to some but bliss to us who really did get away from it all.
Add to this the most species of bird frequent this site and the site was spot on.
Despite my few niggles, I would certainly go back again and I would mark the site 8 out of 10.

September 2004 Lovely place. Shower blocks are very clean and the shop is well stocked and self service!!! Rare this day and age.. There is an Inn on the site which sells take out food to campsite users. Handy because they are always busy and always full so no seats unless you book. Food is fab and so is the beer. Would stay there again.

August 2004 This really was a fabulous find, made even sweeter due to the relatively late booking! Four of us (two couples) wanted a nice quiet break during the bank holiday weekend in the country, and the details sounded perfect.
Firstly (and unusually) it's adults only. What a result, no screeching ankle-biters, and also a pub a stone's throw away to crawl back from.
This site is possibly the smallest I've ever been to, and also one of the smartest: the grass is well kept, the static caravan we stayed in was AAA (CD Player, microwave, full set of kitchen utensils etc.). And the pub is such a bonus, excellent meals/beer/staff - very friendly atmosphere.
In hindsight, I can't believe we managed to get a caravan for the 3 nights over the weekend (all other campsites wanted us to stay for a whole week - a blessing in disguise I guess). And the tariff is a cryptic one: £105 for three nights worked out at £8.75 each per night - which is as cheap as some tent pitches I've come across. Definitely one to remember for future visits to Somerset/ Exmoor.

August 2004 Well this site was our idea of heaven! Very small, and very well looked after. The facilities were not the most modern we've used, but they were spotlessly clean. The owners were very friendly and so were their horses! As there are no children allowed, the atmosphere was quite laid back with some very nice people to talk to. We also sampled the local pub which is about 7 steps away from the entrance to the site, and received an equally warm welcome and enjoyed some excellent food. We only stayed the one night as we were touring but we will definately be returning the first chance we get!
