If you want a quiet trip away this site is perfect. Very warm welcome and the site is immaculate. Great views and a great pub right next to the site where you can get very good food.
The pitches are flat and well groomed, we had a lot of rain on Easter day but pitch remained well drained. The reception/shop is well stocked with essentials and lots of information on local attractions, there also is a freezer to keep your ice packs well frozen. The toilets and showers are excellent and kept warm and clean. We would definitely go back to this site, its the best we have used in a while.

First visit to this lovely site but it will not be my last. Originally chosen simply because it is adult only I will return for the peace and the views! Welcomed by a friendly warden who apologised for the fact that my sat nav had misdirected me via unclassified roads at least twice (for reference site is just off B3190, entrance at the side of Lowtrow Cross Inn). This site is not huge but the pitches are generous, the views amazing and the toilets / showers / grounds are absolutely immaculate.
The site also offers laundrette facilities and there is a microwave and freezer available free of charge. Reception also have basic groceries available. Unless you are a dedicated walker you will need to drive to visit local attractions as the site is a little out of the way - but this just makes it more peaceful.
There is a pub next door that serves good simple home cooked food at incredibly reasonable prices, make sure you have an appetite as the portions are vast! The pub is obviously a favourite with locals (all very welcoming) and the noise is minimal.
I am already thinking of booking a longer stay next season.

This site is immaculate and well kept, the toilet block is spotless. The wardens are friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely pitch with electric hook-up with views over the countryside.
The only suggestion I would make is to have a sign before the corner with the pub on as we missed the turning in to the site and had to turn round to get back in the entrance, no mean feat with a campervan and teardrop caravan.
Would certainly return to this site on another holiday.

This was our 3rd stay at this site, we stayed for a few days last year and the year before. We love it. Beautiful location, great views, good pitches, helpful friendly staff and immaculately clean facilities. This year was the busiest we've seen it, but there was still plenty of room and no queues. The dog walk area is next to the tent field and is a good size - perfect for morning and evening duties.
The pub attached to the site is great, friendly, good food and dog friendly.
The only downside is that it is just off the main road (extremely quiet), noise is no problem, but it just means its not safe to walk from the site - and you are a little way from main places to visit, so would need the car to make the most of the area. We love this area and that is no problem, highly recommend Dunster and country park trails, and Porlock Weir is beautiful. Cream teas at Selworthy very worth the trip.

This is a super site and would recommend it for a quiet break. The staff were so helpful and interesting, they keep the grounds immaculate. They offered to help set up the caravan and awning, even though it was raining.
The facilities are very good and always clean, with a little shop that sells the basics, plus lots of local info.
The area is great for walking or touring, and the pub next door provides good pub grub.
Would we visit again? We are already planning a return.

We have stayed here previously and enjoyed it so much, we came back.
We have a tent and decided to use electric hook up this year. I have to say that we did have a better view previously when not on a hook-up pitch, but every pitch does offer some view, so it's not much to complain about!
Views are across fields of sheep and cows (and these are the only things making noise too!).
The owners/ wardens are very friendly and you get the feeling that they would do anything to help. There is a well stocked little shop, even ice creams for sale, and a little book library if you need something to read. There is also plenty of information on local attractions, and walks in the area.
The site is very dog friendly, with a dedicated dog walking area. This is great as there isn't really anywhere directly near to take the dog for a quick walk. However, for days out there are loads of lovely places nearby - Haddon Hill and Wimbleball Lake - we even saw ponies!
The toilet blocks are always clean and the showers have good temperature and pressure. There is also a spotless washing up area with hot water, as well as a freezer for your own cool packs, a tumbler and a microwave!
Tents are well spaced, with the wardens giving clear instruction on where to plot. We were surprised that cars were not permitted to park in the site, except for loading/ unloading, but they weren't parked too far away, and the site is very secure. It would have been nice if some people had respected this rule as it was a bit sporadic to have some cars parked by tents.
The only thing they don't seem to have is disabled toilet/ washing facilities. I managed with my mobility issues, but a wheelchair user would struggle.
I would recommend this site to anyone wanting a peaceful break, especially dog owners. There is a dog friendly pub at the entrance to the site, serving lovely meals.
The site also has touring caravans, some of which seem to be long stay.

Stopped at lowtrow for 6 nights. Chose on basis of adults only (given school holiday time) and location, as we'd always passed through Somerset on way to Devon and Cornwall, so thought we ought to stop and have a look around for a change.
As others have said, the site is immaculate, toilets / showers were always spotless and lawns and borders well maintained by the lovely wardens.
We had an electric pitch right in corner of tent field, which has great views. The mixture of weather (heavy rain on our first night) proved the drainage of the site was good, as no boggy areas. Pitch good size for our Oakland xl with side extension.
Wifi is intermittent at best at tent area (somedays we couldn't pick it up), but worked better in pub and toilet block area (I did wonder why my other half kept taking his iPad to the loo and spending ages there!). There's no phone signal, so if you're a social media addict prepare to go cold turkey!
Site is quite far from towns with supermarkets, Tiverton and Taunton are nearest (I think, there could be others) so you need to stock up when you're out for the day, but there's a good selection of food in the shop and a chest freezer to use. Pub next to the site does good food and beer so worth a visit or two.
Unless you're stopping for local walks, you'll need to drive quite far along small roads to get to places, but very scenic routes to be had on your way to places.
All in all a good site. We probably won't visit it again as feel we've exhausted what the area has to offer, but would thoroughly recommend it to others looking for a peaceful break.
Ps. If the wardens read this: hope you find the little kitten a good home.

I was initially attracted to this site as it is for Adults Only. Not that I have any allergies to children or anything - but by their nature they tend to make a lot of noise!
This then, was a great place to escape the busier, noisier campsites of the Exmoor national park, and just enjoy the gentle sound of the distant fields of sheep. This is probably the quietist campsite I've ever stayed at. The 'main' road that serves it seems to see virtually no traffic.
Plan your trip in carefully. Many of the local roads are little more than a standard cars width. We were on a motorbike so we were ok, but I wouldn't fancy trying to tow a caravan down some of them, if it's even possible. I recommend you stick to the A and B roads and avoid the unclassified roads, no matter what your GPS system says, even if it means a longer journey.
At £17 for 2 adults and a small tent, it's one of the most expensive sites I've stayed on but I took into account that by not allowing children, they probably lose a lot of would-be business.
Also, you are paying for the quietness, and the immaculate condition of the site. The toilet and shower block is stunningly clean. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer, a microwave and a freezer (the latter two being free to use).
The view from the tent pitching area is just stunning, but if that's not enough to keep your attention, there are electric hook-up pitches too so you can plug in your telly, laptop etc etc.
Additionally, the site shop sells most provisions you're likely to need (but no alcohol, so stock up before you arrive as the nearest shop is a drive away).
Best thing about this campsite? The pub that is literally next door (there is a gate from the campsite into the beer garden!). Don't worry - it's not a particularly loud establishment! Bottle of reasonable house red was £13. Perfect if you didn't manage to stop at a shop on the way in!
Would I stop at this site again? It's idyllic settings, coupled with a decent pub, and proximity to the sights of Exmoor (like the Tarr steps, and the lovely village of Dulverton etc), almost certainly!

We stayed for three nights, during the really hot weather, on one of the six EHU grass pitches (number 3 is right next to the water tap). There were lovely views across the rolling hills where the sun set each evening (and where we watched the farmer round up sheep with his dogs!)
We have a four person tent with a front extension which just fitted onto the pitch, and we placed a long windbreak around the seating area at the side of the tent to provide some privacy (because there is no planting to separate the pitches). Our car was parked separately.
Some previous reviews had mentioned a smell - we did notice a very slight smell at times, which didn't bother us, and we just put this down to the unusually hot weather.
The site is immaculate: neatly trimmed grass, flowers and spotless toilets & showers. There is an under-cover washing up area, a large freezer for campers' use, microwave, washing machine & ironing facilities. The small reception/shop stocks a good supply of basic foods (including meat products, icecreams, chocolate bars, bread rolls etc).
It was a really relaxing, peaceful site - the only noise came from the distant sheep and the very occasional passing vehicle.
It was nice to have a pub serving food right at the entrance to the campsite. During the week it was open at lunchtime and then re-opened at 1800.
We wanted a large supermarket on the first day so we drove to Tiverton, which has several. However, there are small grocery stores in surrounding villages closer to the campsite.
We would highly recommend this site if you are looking for somewhere peaceful. We will definitely return!

Really impressed with this site.
Easy to get to s long as you follow the directions given by the site. As a test on leaving the site we followed our satnav. Not a good idea, it took us down some extremely narrow lanes which as stated are 'unsuitable for motor vehicles'
On arriving at the site you drive past the village pub and you are greeted with immaculately manicured grassed areas and plenty of plants. The site is split into two, the top field for caravans and motor homes and the lower tent field. The top field has hard standings for the units, they are on a slope but there are plenty of blocks to level your unit out. Even though we had a campervan we were given a hard standing in the tent field, this suited us brilliantly as we only had to share the field with one tent. The electric point was a fair way from the pitch but the wardens had an extension which they let us borrow for the duration free of charge.
Great little shop/reception on site for all your needs, food and information on the local area. Can definitely recommend the bacon and free range eggs.
Toilet block is the cleanest we have seen since we started camping. There was a good washing up area and washing machine and dryer in the block as well. Recycling facilities are provided round the back.
Good Wifi coverage free of charge.
The local pub is very friendly and serves good pub food at very reasonable prices.
The local area has good walks and Dunster castle and village are well with a visit.
Best campsite we have been to so far, if you are after a quiet break away, this is the place for you.
