This site is adults only, and if you like to lay in, in the mornings you won't be disturbed, the site is very quiet, to the point of feeling once it's dusk you have to tip toe round.
We found the owners/wardens very friendly and helpful.
This time of year only the hard standings are available, there are many more grass pitches that are open in the better weather, these are quite high up but looked level, beyond these are the tent pitches. Each pitch had electric and a water tap which was nice and handy but I think a good idea would have been to have t.V.Points there too as it was difficult to get any sort of picture.
The facilities which have won loo of the year awards several years running, are very clean and nice, the wet rooms are an excellent idea having under floor heating and the showers are on a sensor.
There are some walks from the site, one which takes you to Pidley where there is the Mad Cat pub and another which takes about half to three quarters of an hour and goes along side of the golf course to Somersham where there are four pubs, a Spar shop that opens all hours and one or two more small shops.
Just up the road at Lakeside Lodge there is Ten pin bowling I think It has about three lanes, there is a bar and restaurant. There is a restaurant on site where we were told served very good food, there was also a small shop which sold the essentials.
All in all the site is clean, quiet and pleasant but the price reflects this at £21 plus £1 per dog.

WOW. What a site! Ok, so we are not the most dedicated campers and will only go if the weather looks good. After a 2 hour drive and leaving perfect sunshine behind we arrived on site to hear that they have had nothing but rain for the last 5 days and the field for tents is totally water logged. The site management decided to put us behind some of the hard standing caravan pitches which turned out to be a blessing because it put us nearer to the shower block. Talking of showers I have never been on a campsite with such a nice shower/toilet block, you have to see them. Never stay on this site without having at least one meal in the restaurant, you would not expect a restaurant of such quality. Its not cheap but you get what you pay for. St Ives is close by and worth a visit and Cambridge is not that far and is a must. The site only have a very small shop on site. Somersham which is about 2 miles away has one of those shops that's open long hours and sells most food items, it also has a couple of restaurants.
All in all after 3 nights we can say we had a fantastic stay and the only thing that would stop me returning if we were put in the field usually for tents due to the steep climb and long walk to get to and from the shower and toilet block.

Our first visit to the site and stayed here for two nights in early May. As we wanted EHU we were on the upper level which is shared by caravans, rather than in the tent field. Excellent shower rooms, very clean, hot water always available and showers free. On first night and given previous reviews, I wrapped all my clothes in bags to prevent them from getting wet, however spray from shower doesn’t reach back of doors and, although I imagine if you placed your clothes on the basin they would get wet, they are unlikely to if hung on the back of the door. Loved the idea of the shower / toilet / basin together, in the ladies there were three shower / toilet / basin cubicles and four separate WCs. Free use of hairdryer also available in ladies. Walked to the local pub (The Mad Cat), about half hour walk. Although we didn’t have a meal there, the restaurant seemed popular and was very busy whilst we were there. Site has a small shop selling range of basic necessities and various camping/caravanning accessories too and there is a Tesco about four miles away. Tennis court available on site for which there is a charge (around £4 as I recall). The standard of this site is excellent, I would definitely recommend and we will be returning.

This was our second visit to the site, we visited last year too. The facilities are excellent here. The toilets and shower rooms are more like you would find at an upmarket hotel. The restaurant is very good - you really will be surprised to find a restaurant of this standard on a campsite. It is probably wise to pre-book at least one night before you arrive as it does get busy. There is a golf course adjacent to the site. There is a fishing lake on site too. There is a mixed bag of species with carp being the most common catch. It is well stocked. The nearby town of St Ives is a lovely small town. It has a couple of supermarkets including a Waitrose. I've taken a few friends to this site and all were very impressed. We will definitely be returning. To be honest I don't why I'm reviewing this site as I'd be better off keeping it as our 'little secret' ! Top marks to Stroud Hill.

Just returned to the site again, first trip of 2007. This site goes from strength to strength, Facilities are immaculate as usual and cleaned frequently. The facilities on site have just been awarded loo of the year for 2007. Fishing was great with most bagging quite a few, 18lb Carp biggest caught this year so I was told. Great site, very well maintained as usual and would recommend again for the 2007 season.

This was our first visit to this site and a great time was had by all. The site is a Camping and Caravanning site and is unusual in being open to only those above the age of 16, not even anyone under this age is allowed to visit the site. On arrival it is apparent that a great deal has been spent on this site. You are greeted by the magnificent Oak barn which houses the reception / shop, bar, restaurant and shower block. The shower block is unique in providing full wet rooms, (Note: take carrier bags, wrap cloths in carrier bag to stop getting wet). The bar is very cosy and the restaurant is just first class serving a great range of foods at a reasonable price, but don't forget to book early as it gets full. The main area for tents is up on a field overlooking the lake, very peaceful. The only downside is that you only have a tap in the field for water, you have a very long walk to the toilet and showers back at the main block. There are about ten pitches with Electric hook ups for tents on grass but these to are shared by caravans. The site is set in a beautiful part of Cambridgeshire with the historic market town of St Ives a few miles away, as well as the town of Huntingdon along with all its modern stores / supermarkets also close at hand. The city of Cambridge itself is only a half hours drive to. Would highly recommend this site to all but beware for a long walk for those tenting in the tent field.

This is the best site we have stayed at so far. We just loved it. Had a meal on the Saturday night on site, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Immaculate bathroom facilities, at first I thought it a little strange to have a toilet and handbasin in the shower cubicle, but I can see the logic. The downside would be at busier times when people are engaging the showers by using the toilet before showering. Not too far from Ely, had an enjoyable day there, we will definitely be going back.

This was the first visit we had made to this site and very enjoyable too. Having said that it is rather new and open, it will take a few years to settle in I should imagine. Obviously the biggest difference to other CC sites is the Adults only, which makes it very quiet, you can actually hear the birds singing and yourself think. Not being bombarded with Footballs is also nice.
The Restaurant and Bar are superb and relaxing, the Sunday lunch being excellent and a decent pint of Real Ale too.
The site is mostly hard standing, with a few grass pitches on the top level, these are adequate in size and well served with Electric and water points. The black shale makes the site look a little depressing though.
Our biggest complaint really was the washrooms, beautifully maintained but impractically designed. The individual rooms of which there are only 3 in the Gents are a sure way to get all your clothes wet and there is nowhere to store anything and there were huge queues at Easter.
Overall we enjoyed the site. We got around on the buses, the local Pub (The Mad Cat) was good, the walking is a little boring. Nice for a long weekend.

We often stay at this site. Spacious, lovely well cared for pitches. Adults only, which is a bonus. The club house is immaculate, first class bar and restaurant. Tennis court and fishing on site. Good walks and golf club with bowling alley 5 minute stroll away. Staff are extremely friendly. It is well worth £20 per night. Once you have been here it is difficult to find a campsite to match upto its excellence.

Cannot fault this site in any way at all. Very well run, friendly and helpful staff, the best toilet and shower block I have seen in this country, superb restaurant and first class live entertainment while we were there. Would I return? Yes defnitely and asap.
